  1. Thanks Jose. I think he used up a bunch of your Senkos catching all his bass.
  2. Hey all. I just wanted to share with you a proud moment as a dad. Yesterday my son (fishman2202) placed third in his first competitive fishing tournament. He brought in a total of 9 lbs with his biggest a smallie weighing in at almost 3 lbs. It's such a great feeling to see him fishing on his own and doing so well. Seems like yesterday that he caught his first "big" fish. My hat goes off to Gerry Heels and John Whyte of the Barrie Bass Masters (as well as all the other volunteers) for organizing the event on Bass Lake. The unselfishly dedicate their time for the benefit of the juniors. I also want to thank my son's boater Grant Wild who had to put up with my son for eight hours!!! LOL.
  3. I'll take time fishing with him over money anyday. You cant buy that kind of love.
  4. I thought it might work but I am trying to sell it. I would like the reight size motor if possible. As a last resort I may start with it on the boat until I can sell it. Thanks for your input.
  5. Hi guys. Just looking for some advise on using a long shaft 4Hp on a Jon boat. I have purchased a new 12ft Jon boat. I have this great (almost new) 4 Hp two stroke motor that I thought was perfect for the boat. The problem is that it is a 20" shaft and the Jon boat really should have a 15" shaft. The main purpose of the boat is for my son (and friends) to use in the canals of Lagoon City. I have read that it can be used but it will "drag" and slow you down. I am trying to sell the motor but I hate to get rid of it as it is a great little motor and would prefer to use it. Have any of you had experience with using a longer shaft motor? Do you think it will be ok to kick the 12 ft boat around? He cant go very fast in the canals anyhow. Your advise would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  6. I couldn't think of a better way for him to show me how much I really mean to him. He really makes me proud. What a nice surprise for father's day. Makes me wish my dad was still around. He meant a great deal to me and I think back and wonder if he knew that...................
  7. Sandercocks has never been the same since Bod passed away a few years ago. I have a lot of memories fishing there with my kids. Now they are growing up and sharing with my love of the sport. That's what being a dad is all about, enjoying what you love with your kids. I hope they will share with me that passion for years to come. Cheers. fishman2202's dad (Tony)
  8. That wont work. The 10 amp fuse will instantly pop. I'm sure you will be fine with the 50 Amp breaker. The breaker is meant to protect the motor if it goes into "locked rotor" like when you jam the propeller, that would create your maximum amp draw. For 10.00 id give it a go.
  9. I cant begin to tell you guys how much I enjoy spending time with my kids. I thank God every day for giving me three healthy beautiful children. They are my reason for living. My youngest is my best fishing buddy. I cant begin to imagine the feeling those of you have felt in loosing a child.
  10. I have had my co-pilot on my 18 ft Alumacraft for a couple of years. I love the unit. I have the remote mounted on my rod with the controls at my finger tips. You can do everything with the remote that your foot pedal does. I think its well worth the investment. Great little device. Cheers.
  11. OMG. 62 replies on this in just a few hours. Seems you're touch a nerve......I say everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just be aware that if you take one side or the other, be prepare for the rebuttal. Just my $0.02 Cheers
  12. Mike, more torque definitely means more speed. You might be OK with the 30 lb kota on calm days and on smaller lakes. It may not get you around on windy days. If you are on a tight budget, stick with what you have. If you feel you need more torque, you will have a better idea (and maybe a few more bucks in your pocket ) of what you need to upgrade to. Cheers.
  13. We had the same problem last year with the tub leaking after it was opened. Made a mess in my boat. I met a rep from Gulp at BPS and he suggested rather than peeling the lid open, to slice and "X" in the middle thus retaining the seal for the screw on cap. I'm going to try that this year. We used the 3" leaches and found they we good for smallies.
  14. Thanks for sharing your day with us Jacques. Sounds exactly like what I did last week. Took the day off and my son had the day off school. We had non-stop action on Simcoe bringing over 75 Perch!! Nice to see Melissa enjoys coming out with you fishing. Nothing but great bonding time for Dad and daughter. I'm sure there is no better feeling than watching your kids get excited when they catch their first big fish. Nice to see you have captured it in that picture to share with all of us. I only wish I had done the same with my son's first big bass. Oh well, I guess I'll have to remember it in my mind......... Cheers, Tony
  15. I hear you can get an MRI for your dog quick..................if your willing to pay for it. I dint understand why there are not more MRI facilities available to us Canadians in Canada. Just my $0.02.
  16. Lowrance would be my choice. Just picked up a new LMS-522C from Radio World. I think its a good unit for under $600.00 if you are looking for a Sonar/GPS combo. http://radioworld.ca/product_info.php?cPat...roducts_id=3051
  17. Try LeBarons for the rods. They have no tax and also you can use your 10% club discount if you have one.
  18. I agree. Nothing special really. Picked up some Senkos at JBs. Buy 4 get one free @7.99 per pack............not bad. Picked up a couple of rods at LeBarons no tax, plus an extra 10% with my LeBarons card. Other than your usual clear outs, not much to be had. Not much traffic after 4:00PM in the isles.
  19. Hey Dave, I understand that you are doing a seminar at Bass Pro on Sunday that includes the Jr. Barrie Bassmasters. My son Alexander (fishman2202) cant wait to see you. I'll be there as well to say hello. See you then. Tony
  20. Congrats to both you and your daughter. It's amazing how quick they pick up the whole "fishing" thing. You know I enjoy fishing with my son. It just does get any better than that! I also have two older girls that will dip a line in with us when ever they get the chance. Those are memories that last a life time!
  21. Be careful!! Like SImcobob said, you might get out in the morning but you may not get back in the afternoon off the lake. We nearly sunk our ATV today in some slushy water. Good luck fishing. The ice on the lake is still great and the fishing is too. Enjoy.
  22. Congrats, he's a definitely a keeper in my books. He is definitely an instant fishing buddy. Many happy years of fishing together!!!!!!!!
  23. Thanks Dan. BTW, the auger works great. My son poked around 20 holes with it on Saturday and had it mastered after a couple. Looking forward to using it one last time Friday.
  24. Neither one of us. We are strickly catch and release. We hope to see the fish again............when they grow up!!
  25. Thanks for all your kind words in welcoming my son to the board. He is truly a student of the sport and I know this board has a wealth of knowledge available to him. Thank-you all for sharing that with us. I enjoyed fishing growing up, but he truly has a passion for the sport. I am also fortunate to know where he is on the week ends. Too many kids his age are looking to cause trouble, joining gangs etc. His only concern is which one of his buddies is coming fishing with us. I only wish more kids shared his passion. ....and yes I am taking the day off on Friday to take him fishing. What better excuse to take a day off work!!!!
