  1. Oh Man!!! You need to stop; that looks so good!!!! All I know is that I'm not showing this portion of the thread to my wife! She'd be in the truck now heading for your place. She loves her seafood and those cakes would send her over the top. Keep up with the recipes; I've already stolen some and looked like a chef making a great meal. Thank you!!! Dan. PS: Could you PM me the actual recipe for these cakes? I'm retired now and have time to collect and hopefully make something like this for our supper. My wife still works(Someone needs to bring cashola into the house) and I'm now the chief cook and bottle washer. LOL Dan....
  2. Here's a day where I was proud of my son, his new wife and the old Chevy; as their choice of transportation for their day. Didn't know they had this wall photo done; but oh man I had to take a pic of it to post here! See the light switch (bottom right); that's to give their wall photo some scale of size. FAMILY!!!!!! Dan
  3. Maybe not so far from the truth; if you want the whole motor to be white? Maybe not so much sunscreen; but has anyone on your boat ever used some form of (Strong deet) bug repellent? Repellent that may have inadvertently got sprayed on or dumped on top of the plate? Deet is an amazing bug repellent; it is also good for starting camp fires (better then gasoline), discoloring painted surfaces and Oh yea causing cancer. A buddy of mine worked for Bell Canada (from the70s till retirement). Back in his early days; the general worker's supply warehouses, had cases of deet, in 4-5 ounce squeeze bottles of all but strait 100% deet. Long story short. if you got that stuff on anything; it would turn it chalk white with-in minutes. Worked great keeping the flies away; but I made the mistake of wiping my hands (this crap burned) on the tan seat of my boat. After the sun hit it; it looked like it was tie-dyed; it pulled the colour right out of the seat. Dan.
  4. Is the prop a painted one; if so is there any of the same discolouration? Just thinking that it might be exhaust or combustion chamber acids that etched the finish of the paint? Dan.
  5. Been helping a buddy (Cam) with a 67 Galaxy; nice car that has a ton of potential. Having trouble getting a decent brake pedal. I then looked at the badge on the car. I yelled to my buddy and said I see the problem and the manufacturer circled it for us. Sorry Cam; if you see this. LOL Dan.
  6. Yea you're right; but I have had pike sitting on the ice while ice fishing for a number of hours. They sure seemed frozen and looked dead. Get home from the day's fishing and put the 3 or 4 fish in a tub of water allowing them to thaw before cleaning. My son (then 8 or 10) stayed in the garage where the fish were; no doubt mucking around with the fish. About 20 or so minutes go by and he comes running into the house as if his ass was on fire. Dad Dad the fish are alive!!!! Sure enough there was one that was swimming upright and circling the 50 gallon water trough. True story. All the guys that were there got pretty hammered having a few cocktails watching this pike swimming and splashing in the tub. Dan.
  7. Can't wait to get my 50 Chevy back from the body shop. Word of warning to anyone taking their vehicle into have body work done to it. NEVER tell the body man to take his time. Those suckers will take you literally. LOL Dan. Wayne hopefully I can join you on one of your cruises? That's if you don't mind a Chevy taking some of the attention away from your Mopars? LOL Dan.
  8. They breath through their gills, not their mouths; so lack of oxygen likely wouldn't be an issue. Maybe they are like some people; born rubber neckers trying see all they can? My wife says that, she's not nosy just very interested on what's going on. LOL Dan.
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong; but doesn't any form of line (plastics/polymers) degrade with time? Buying up old stock or keeping it for extended periods of time; doesn't it make it weak? Dan.
  10. Buy used or buy new? Buy on the word of an individual or buy from a manufacturer that must give some form of warrantee. Any machine can break; but for a purpose built machine why not go new? Just questions not a rebuttal.
  11. Don't shoot me for this; but your stuff should have never been left in the truck! I can say this so abruptly; because I just did the same thing last weekend. I closed our trailer for the season last Sunday. Got home late in the afternoon and didn't feel like bringing my antifreeze pump and tool box into the house. Got up the next morning, went out to get my stuff and they were gone. I even have a tonneau cover on my truck; but the unwed mother's son (site wouldn't let me type the word I wanted) opened it and scooped the stuff; talk about ballsy. Sorry we both lost our stuff; but school costs money and this lesson was expensive. Dan.
  12. If you have the 5 inputs (right & left turn, brake, tail lights and ground) going into the converter/module from the vehicle and not having the proper output signals. Then it has to be the module. Your next question should be why did the module take a dump? An intermittent connection on the trailer will take these boxes out every time. Even though you know the trailer lights all seem to work normally while you check them sitting still. Doesn't mean you don’t have an intermittent connection bouncing down the road. To try and check this you could try what Ford motor company still considers a viable test. They call it a wiggle test. LOL Turn your tail and brake lights on and literally wiggle and jiggle the wiring harness, connectors, where the harness goes into the light assembles and the actual bulbs. All the while watching if either of the bulbs flicker. Not saying that is what has happened to your rig; but it wouldn’t hurt to be sure it isn’t. Dan.
  13. How about some fresh brewed beef barely soup. Most people would enjoy a hot bowl. Dan.
  14. All interested bring CASH or go away! You likely don’t need to sell the coach; you want to sell. From what I feel/know about you; this is not in your nature; but be a prick towards these tire kickers. Dan.
  15. Not to disagree but I have to on this one. Sorry Shawn. Rockwell Princess Sells Rockwell American. Like I said In my previous post; yes PA does sell a bunch of cheap crap; but there's nothing wrong with Rockwell. Yes maybe they are using Chinese made parts; but parts that meet Rockwell's specs. Who cares where the parts come from; as long as they meet the qualifications that the manufacturer needs. I can't believe I'm defending PA; but this time I feel I have too. Dan.
  16. Sorry for the double post. If you're replacing the axle, I would suggest going one step further and replace the leaf springs as well. For 50 bucks each, it would be a good thing having all the suspension new and working together. Yeah I know it's not my money I'm spending; but fixed right the first time; will or could save some grief later?. At the very least make sure the spring's eyelet bushings, shackles and the spring's center locating pins are in good shape. The last thing you want is for the trailer to be dog tracking behind the tow vehicle. Dan. Springs
  17. Looking at a few charts I found on line and not knowing what you have added to the boat; I'd say the boat itself is anywhere between 900-1100 pounds. A 40 Merc (2 stroke) is under Approx 200 pounds. If that is the approx. weight then a 3500 pound axle should work fine. Yes Princess Auto does have some questionable quality items; but there's nothing wrong with a Rockwell axle assembly. Dan.
  18. 3 or 4 inches are all you need for a fusible link, like what you're thinking. Just have a jumper wire with alligator clips; so that if whatever short that burnt the link is remedied; you'll have a way to reconnect the circuit and get your ass going again. Dan.
  19. You're right people are repairing their older vehicles; but many families (at least many of my clients) are down to one vehicle. There are also a ton of people working from home and their vehicle now is their grocery getter; only leaving the laneway once or twice a week. They don't break or wear; if they're not driven. Your friend is 100% right! It's amazing how deep people's pockets are when it comes to paying for things that they WANT. Like I said in an earlier post; vehicle repairs are a grudge purchase; always has been and will always be. Even body shops have an easier time selling a job; because the customer knows or will see that their dented/rusted car will be strait and shiny again. Automotive mechanical repair is a different song and dance. For example; we bring in a car for a basic oil change; the owner has no complains, just wants it serviced. During the servicing we find that there are issues with worn steering components. Go to the customer that's thinking he's only going to be spending a little money and tell them they need to spend big $$$. Once the repairs are done and the customer drives away. He doesn't feel or see anything different, the car drives the same; as far as they are concerned. Dan.
  20. The retirement part I'm good with. It's having to sell/loose my equipment; that I've had for years and took for granted that it would always be there for me to use. The fish hut, quad, the tracked Suzuki Tracker and the enclosed bobsled are staying with me. Even if I have to plant them in my front yard at home and call it fishing art! LOL That's my problem, I don't have room for all my crap and will have to let a lot of it go. Dan.
  21. I know the 2.5 automotive and the 2.5 marine are internally different. Not sure what these differences are; but you cannot switch them from automotive to marine; not without modifications made. I could ask my nephew (Marine mechanic) why; I just don't remember. Dan.
  22. Maybe get a 40-50 amp breaker with a reset button? If something accidentally shorts out and after the accident/short is found, push the breaker switch and you're back going again. There are also auto resets that once the short is removed the circuit will be back on line. I would suggest marine type applications. A bit more money but well worth it. You'll not have to worry about spare fuses. Dan.
  23. I have my 50 Chevy 2 door sedan to work on, as soon as I get it back from the body shop. I have 45 years of tinkering, building, repairing and fabricating; all of that is in my blood. Going to miss all the equipment; but when I started, I didn't have that stuff and still built cars. Once things get settled; I've been thinking of building an air boat. Be good for water, sketchy Ice and pissing everyone around me off with the noise. LOL Dan.
  24. Thanks Guys! I'm a person that does not like change and man am I scared of what my future is going to be like? One step at a time and I have a wonderful wife that is there 100% behind and in front of me. So I should be OK; having her support. Dan.
  25. What we found on Mountain lake (Elk Lake area) was trolling the weed beds and pencil sticks, in the 6- 8 FOW, We were always getting good numbers of small pipe. We then went out to the 20-25 FOW: drifting and casting into the weed beds and started hitting bigger fish. A lot more work then trolling but well worth the time. Can't get up there again this year; but fingers crossed for next. Dan.
