Does it hurt too, NO Do I recommend it, YES Intake valves and guides on a wet 4 stroke engine's manifold (fuel passing through) does not have any form of protection from condensation, while sitting over the winter; its only seen fuel. Same as direct injected engines, which are famous for accumulating deposits on the back of intake valves, where condensation can be absorbed and turn into something like cement. Giving the intake assembly any form of oily film will also help prevent the formation of oxidation on the shiny bits. When I stored customer's vehicles for the winter, I always fogged them. In a separate fuel container run some 2 stroke oil & fuel mixture through the engine; till she starts to put out smoke. I've been using a Schrade "Old Timer" for the last 20 + years. Yeah it's a long knife but it's so sensitive that you can feel even the smallest of bones as you draw the knife across a ribcage or down the Y-bones of a pike. I've cleaned everything from bluegills, perch, pike to the hard bones of salmon with this knife. It holds its edge every well; with maybe a couple of swipes of a steel between sharpening's. When doing finesse cleaning, like on the Y-bones of pike, I'll hold the knife kind of back-assed but it adds to the sensitivity of the handle. Only had it professionally sharpened once; that was to thin the blade edge back to its original thickness. It wasn't a cheep knife back then it cost approx $75.00; now I see them advertised for better than a buck 50+. I have other knives but always end up going back to my Old Timer. One last thing that has likely helped this knife last so long, it was from the recommendation from Lew here on the board. I asked if anyone here knew of a good sharpening system. LOL Doing what you asked is very simple. Get yourself a couple of group 24 or 27 deep cycle batteries. Maybe one that is classed as a start/deep cycle (Battery Bull? I don't know). Hook both batteries to a combination switch. This will allow you to separate the batteries from each other or connect them together, if you run the starting motor low with your electronics (fish/depth or whatever finder) low. you'll have the trolling motor battery in reserve or vice a versa?

Yeah I didn't like my propane smoker either at first. Its a dual burner Dyna-Glo. Liked everything about (roomy, good racking) it; but it was just to hot for my style of smoking. Even with only one burner turned on, to its lowest setting and all the vents open; I could not get the temp below 225-250 degrees. I was roasting the meats, not smoking them low and slow. I was about ready to give up on the thing; but I paid to much for it to just sit there. Then I looked at my camp cooker and its temp control was was on the regulator. So I took that adjustable regulator and put it on the smoker. I set both of the smoker's burner control knobs to high and then adjust the amount of heat I wanted with the regulator. It also now works great for prepping the smoker; as in getting the chips smoking by cranking up the heat until it gets a good roll of smoke going. Turn the reg down and by the time I get the smoker loaded with whatever I'm smoking; its at about the right temp. Make a few adjustment with either the reg or the smoker's control knobs and I now can control the heat to wherever temp I want. Dan...

Looking at the pic it looks like you already have a 5 stud hub? Why do you want to change the axle? An axle doesn't change the carrying capacity of the tire. If it is because you want more room for a larger tire. You could relocate the axle or add blocks between the axle and springs. As in if the axle is sitting on top of the spring flip it to the underside of the spring. If after flipping the axle and you still want more room add blocks between the axle and spring. With your estimated weights you gave us a D rated (2150lbs @ 65psi @ 65mph)) should be enough but it's getting to the top of it's range. Then add in your gear, supplies, and then mix in a bit of road speed could have add up to the blow outs? An E rated (3520lbs @ 80psi @ 65mph) should do the job with no problems. What's wrong with the axle? If the axle and springs are carrying the weight ok; why not move the fenders, allowing to put whatever size wheel and tire on? If the hubs on the trailer are four bolt, you may need to replace them with 5 bolt by 4.5" pattern hubs, opening you up to most any 14, 15 or even 16 inch wheels. Just an experiment. When done for the day, disconnect the fuel line at the motor and let the motor/carb run out of gas. The next day plug fuel line back, pump the bulb until it has fill the carb's bowl, then try your normal stating routine. If it starts and runs better; it's likely that the small amount of fuel in the carb has gone stale (yes even over night) and lost its volatility. The fuel in the carb is exposed to the atmosphere; alcohol fuel loves to give up its essentials to burn and absorbs moisture. The fuel in the tank and hoses at not exposed to the air or shouldn't be with a good self venting cap and or you closing the vent at the end of the day. Just for worst and giggles give it a try? I agree 100% with the thermacell underlay, keeps you warm and dry while laying down. I'd still like a cot, I'll be off the ground (incase of a tent rain flood) or accidentally picking the ONLY lump/rock or whatever under the sleeping bag, that jabs you not matter how you move. A thermacell will still work on top of a cot; it'll keep the dew off the underside of your sleeping bag. What we've been using at the trailer is an oil burning lantern filled with a citronella based oil. It gives off a decent amount of light and it does help with the bugs. What I've been doing is to light the lantern (outside) about a half-hour before we go to sit out on the deck. Leaving the wick set a little high to produce some extra smoke. You might want to check with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) before you transport the firewood form your area to another. emerald ash borer CFIA suggests that you buy your firewood local to where you're camping and get a recite. A recite showing the seller's name, address, and contact info. I used to repair the CFIA's vehicles here in London and Brian Hamilton (Enforcement officer) said the fines depending on severity of the offence can reach into the ten's of thousands of dollars and or possible jail time. I understand the wood would only be for a couple of camp fires, but the CFIA is worried about what may crawl out of the wood waiting to be burned.
