Thanks guys. It'll be Thanksgiving weekend when they're holding the reception; so I'll have time to get organized and figure out what to do. I'll try and remember to take some pictures along the way. Dan.

The garlic sounds like a great idea; should I use a whole clove lightly crushed per stab hole or just a 1/4 - 1/2 pieces of a clove? I also agree on the low temps and longer cook time; the last pork I did; I kept the closed spit temp around the 200 - 225 mark; until I have a good layer of crackling formed. The last couple of hours, I could raise the temp to 350 and force the heat to the bone. It usually takes anywhere around 16 to 17 hours to get the internal temp to 150 - 155 and juices to run clear. I then let the pig rest on the carving table for an hour or more; literally a pig in a blanket. The internal temp will easily raise another 10-15 degrees; once this temp increase stops, it's time to start carving. I'm still concerned about how I'm going to balance out the doneness (word?) of the beef. My wife won't eat beef unless it looks like shoe leather; myself I like mine rare and then there's everyone else in between? A friend suggested cooking it all rare to medium; have a couple of BBQ ready to finish off the cut to where an individual wants it? Anyone think that would work and not ruin the smokey spit flavor of the meat? Dan.

I was looking for a cooking forum to get some advice and then I remembered this thread. So here I am looking for ideas for rubs and baste recipes. I've been asked to cook a whole rear 1/4 of beef or it'll be a number of large roasts adding up to approx 200lbs of meat. I have my own wood fired spit and I've cooked a number of whole pork; largest being 180lbs dressed weight, but I've never done beef on my spit before. I was told by the organizers that "Not everyone likes the standard red sticky BBQ sauce"; so I'm looking for a mop that'll add flavor but no sweet or heat (spice); I guess some form of au jus? It would also be great if someone had any hints on roasting that large amount of beef all at once It's for a wedding reception and I don't need a pissed off bride after me.LOL Dan

Oh Rosco can drown out the window shaker AC in our bedroom with his snoring or whatever other battles he dreaming of. The one night he's flat on is back, sound asleep and barking as loud as if he was after the mailman. The noises he makes I can deal with; it's when I get up in the middle of the night for a pee and he takes my spot on the bed with his head on my pillow. Try moving a 100 pound Basset Hound/Rottweiler mix when he has the attitude of you move you loose. LOL Dan.

What make of vehicle is this? In all my years in the trade, I've never seen a power inverter factory installed; unless it was a hybrid? That is a bonus for sure; bring your TV and a mini fridge. LOL Dan.

If the 120V (Likely AC voltage?) isn't a typing mistake; it's not going to work on 12 VDC which is what your vehicle is. Dan.

Just leave the quick connect hose on and flush the core out through the engine. If there's an air compressor handy, fill the system with water and then give the core a shot of 150 pounds of air pressure. One of two things will happen, it'll blow the core out clean or it'll blow the core up. Either way you'll have heat for this winter. Dan.

Most of those fans draw less then a 1/4 amp; that would be equivalent to lets say a single glove box light bulb. If your battery cannot handle 5 or 6 hours of that; then it's time for a new one. If you're still concerned, you could pick up a booster pack and use it as your power source for the fan and any lighting you may want? Dan.

Get yourself a couple of computer cooling fans. They're cheap, run on 12VDC and can be wired to be plugged into a power accessory outlet or cig lighter. They draw very little amperage and can be left on for hours without draining the vehicles battery. Those little fans kick out a decent breeze and help keep you cool during the night. Between the screens that Bill suggested and a fan or two; it'll be like sleeping at the plaza hotel. Dan.

Wouldn't a Canadian dealer honor the warranty? I know in automotive a new car's warranty is honored cross board. International companies, GM for example will honor their vehicles anywhere in the world that that model is sold. Dan.

That reminds me of the CO that was (he's retired now) in the Matachewan area. He was a real ball buster, that got himself tied to a tree, out in the bush and left there by a group of American hunters. The story goes that he was there for 2 days before he was found by the cops. I know a story is a story; but I had a run in with this CO and like I said a real ball buster, on a power trip and I can believe how it could have happened. Dan.

I spent last week on the Montreal River just East of the town of Elk Lake. Fished from the camp, down stream all the way to Mountain cutes and it was great fishing. I don't think there are any real trophies to be had; with most pike being in the 20" + range, the largest for the week was 36". The numbers were great though; it was nothing to catch 30 or 40 fish during the course of the day. The walleye were a little tougher; you had to be on your spot before day break; an hour after sun up and you're wasting your time. Same for the the evening fish, be there an hour before dark, any earlier was a waste of time. The bite was so soft that I usually fished with an open bail and let the fish start taking line before setting the hook. It wasn't hard to limit out with 14-16" eaters, with a bunch released that were in the slot. I think the largest caught was 22", took a couple pictures and back it went. If there's anything wrong with eating fish from that section of the Montreal; you sure couldn't tell from the taste. http://www.elklakewilderness.com/home I'm the third guy from the right in the group shot. I'll be going up to the Elk Lake area and a section of the Montreal River, looks to be the boundary line between zone 8 & 11. What zone regs do you fallow, for catch and possession limits; if they are different? Dan.
