  1. I'd never heard of that 10 speed tranny before and after looking it up and seeing all the issues including class action lawsuits I'd never buy a truck with it regardless of how good that 5.0 l is. Hopefully the Op won't have those problems. https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/ford-10-speed-transmission-problems-to-be-aware-of
  2. Forked tail indicates Fallfish https://foodjustify.com/creek-chub-vs-fallfish/
  3. Agreed, if in doubt change it out.
  4. I worked in the aviation industry as an avionics technician for over 35 years. Many of the instruments we did had a requirement to be tested for insulation resistance on a "Megger" tester which tests the insulation properties of wiring will under higher DC or AC voltages to see if the insulation breaks down. Some Instruments often had breakout boxes that would plug into the connector and every single circuit would be tested against every other one. This was also done to test the integrity of the wiring in rotors, stators, commutators and windings in transformers, motors and generators. There were also some tests that could be done using older analog ohm meters like a Simpson on the higher RX1000 scale that had higher voltage outputs that could detect insulation breakdown. I've even had motor stators test within tolerance but on the low end that barely passed speed tests, so I always replaced them. We also had a tester called a growler that you would place a rotor on and slowly rotate it to find shorted coils in the windings. So what I'm getting at here is that even though the windings on that rheostat could test out ok with a digital multimeter once power is applied there could be insulation breakdown that is causing your issues. Insulation can also break down at elevated temps as coils heat up. Here's a couple of articles on insulation resistance. Also keep in mind that any continuity test testing grounds should have less than 1 ohm readings, anything higher indicates poor ground. https://www.instrumart.com/assets/Megger-Guide-to-Insulation-Testing.pdf https://handtoolsforfun.com/how-to-check-insulation-resistance-with-a-multimeter/
  5. I follow the Fish Ecology and Conservation Ecology Lab from Carleton University on FB and they just posted a link to this research article that they agree with. Some nutbar countries including Britain have passed legislation recognizing fish and even invertebrates as sentient beings that require protection under animal welfare regulations if you can believe that nonsense. Here's a link to the complete article. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/23308249.2023.2257802 Here's a link to the Cooke Lab. http://www.fecpl.ca/
  6. Specially where you work up north. Polar bears can scent humans from amazingly long distances and they are definitely on the menu.
  7. The worse the black flies the better the trout bite they say. Enjoy your trip, should be a blast.
  8. Right now any of the local locks like Edmunds or Kilmarnock will be busy with folks looking for Crappies.
  9. Totally agree, on some sites that photo would get you booted. If you want a pic with a musky fish for them in season, simple as that. Or else get a pic taken as you land the fish.
  10. Hmm, it lasts 2 years as a stabilizer and also prevents phase separation for all those E fuels.
  11. It goes on sale regularly for under $10 at places like Napa And Home Hardware, I always stock up.
  12. Yea I got my first pick of fidleheads in yesterday, just under a pound for now. Back out to check my other spots on Thursday. The ones right up against my foundation are up, that's my signal. Leeks are well up but not swelling yet. This pic is from April 13.
  13. I use Sea Foam for everything, it's clear.
  14. Very cool for sure, does anyone know how that happens?
  15. Don't start regretting now. Get that engine fixed soon and you'll never have to worry about it blowing up on you. The boat looks real nice.
  16. Heya Rick. Your old cooking thread is still hanging around.
  17. Interesting. Downloading right now.
  18. That's quite the chartreuse water there.
  19. I'm still curious as to what actually failed on your old winch, if it was a stripped gear it should still have turned.
  20. A half hour west of Ottawa and even in the bush hardly any snow left. Even saw some chipmunks last week, first time ever in Febuary.
  21. It's getting so you can't even call it fishing anymore, more like shooting fish in a barrel.
  22. I agree with Kipawa, there's a very special magic about that lake. I've been there a good 20 times and if I could I'd go back every year. Not near as many lodges anymore though, Alwaki for example is still open but is now severed and different lots are for sale. That's a 14 mile boat ride from the government dock in Kipawa and another 8 miles or so gets you to Hunters lake and Kipawa Lodge, it's always been considered the best of them all. Or else you can go in from the top end at Laniel and access more lodges.
  23. Boca may be the more expensive but they are also the best and will pay for themselves in the long run over cheaper ones. With the cost of reels these days it's worth it. I worked on a lot of aircraft fan assemblies and there was one in particular that needed to be overhauled after 100 hours. Well someone in purchasing decided to buy a cheap version of the same bearing and those motors started coming in to the shop with failures after 50-60 hours. So I went to my boss and he made sure that purchasing went back to the much more expensive bearings and there were no more issues with failed bearings. You'll never regret buying a quality product in the long run.
  24. All it will take is one big volcano eruption and the world will cool right down.
  25. For almost two weeks now my Avast has been triggered, mostly when I come on a post with a photo.
