I know tables and that Sir is top notch. I always had a table, when I was single. It appears smacking balls around in the middle of the night keeps people awake. The best table I had was a 3X6 and took loonies to play. Buddies had to buck up to play.

I wouldn't over think it Mr. Pike. Don't forget the speed of your downrigger ball is different than the actual and GPS speeds, that's why they have Fish Hawks. If you downrig and it's in your budget that's what you are looking for like porkpie mentioned. Then there is the actual speed of your lure. My GPS and Hummingbird speed are almost identical. Good enough for most everyone. Actually I don't like trolling at the exact same speed, fish and bait don't have cruise control. Always changing speed. You will loose your mind stressing about this stuff. Go out and enjoy fishing. You don't happen to be an engineer.

The difference here is a very small business having to invest in helmets is a cost that they may not be able to afford. It is seen in business both small and large. A good example is school, public and private buses not requiring seat belts. It would be millions of $$ cost to an already struggling industry. Why does a company in Ontario not required to have a Health and Safety committee if there are less than 8 employees? Is having 7 employees safer than having 8? It's all about the mighty buck.

Thanks Lew. Yes, he definitely served on the Haida that may have been part of the Merchant Marine escort at some point. Many of the photos displayed on the Haida were taken by Mr. Henderson and donated by the family. I've been meaning to visit, I understand it is something to see.

Thanks for that Big Lew. Not only Canada didn't have a draft I've read that many as young as 15 lied about their age to sign up. I never realized the sacrifices and dangers that faced the Merchant Marines during WW2. My good friend Kevin Henderson's (RIP Hendo) Dad was with them during the war. He served on the ship that is parked in Hamilton Harbour (help, sometimers disease). Kevin had some amazing stories his Father passed on to him at the end of his life. They were sitting Ducks. I remember playing in the neighbour just a dozen or so years removed from the end of WW2. There were many Fathers of the kids around that we were told were suffering from Shell Shock. Their bodies were there but their minds were gone. They didn't get their names on any wall as casualties of war but they basically left their lives on the battlefield. Tragic to say the least. We are so lucky. Something I was just thinking about. Many of our middle and Sr. management when I started at Stelco in 73' were former officers during WW2. They ran the place with military precision and regimentation. We could use a bit of that in todays workforce.

Pics not all the women left the plant after WW2. I worked in Payroll during the mid 70's and there were still some women in the Sheet Mill. Norma Berti was one and she was treasurer of Local 1005 at the time. That would be my cousin Adam DiFilippo on the Cenotaph's list. Thanks for the photos. I had the honour of attending the Remembrance day ceremonies a few times on Wilcox St. in front of the main office. I was surprised to see a few Viet Nam Vets and 1005 members participating that fought for the US were still working in the plant in the 90's.

Explain how Law Enforcement works here? That's a tough one. I might have an idea why operators don't have to supply helmet to everyone on one of those tow behind multi passenger sleds. It's too expensive.

Excellent, thanks Sir. I don't think there is a family that hasn't lost a relative in times of war in the last century. Mom lost 2 Uncles in Europe and Dad's 1st cousins RAF bomber was shot down somewhere over Europe, Germany I think. He was a Stelco guy. Any Hamilton guys would know Roma Bakery. Adam DiFilippo was the brother and founder of Roma Pizza. My Grand Father took shrapnel to the head in battle in WW1 as a British gunner and survived. He was never the same due to severe brain injury and he lost his family when he returned to Canada. He spent most of his life in the Vets Hospital in London On. I remember a bit visiting in the late 50's. I had to be 4 or 5. I do remember that place was a horrible nightmare of a place. Nowhere a child should ever be. Guys share your stories. Our fallen Hero's should never be forgotten and their stories always told. One minute of silence once a year does not do them justice. We do a better job of remembrance today than when I was a kid. Maybe it was too close to what was a recent World War.

Thanks for the link David. When I got my very 1st " Eagle Ultra Fish Finder" that actually beeped and showed a graphic of a fish everyone in the boat was crowded around the little thing. No one watching where in H we were going of course until we bumped a rock. I actually still have it and it works. We have come a very long way when it comes to electronics and fishing in a short 25 years when the screens came out. Before that we had to contend with paper graphs and flashers and way back then they were the Cat's meow.

My brother caught a Salmon on his pals small lake east of 69 on the edge of the rez at Point au Baril. It was the 1st Salmon they have seen or heard caught on that little lake in the 5 yrs he's had the property. Too small of a lake to name.

I picked up 2 big Shimano saltwater spinning reels at a tackle swap in Pt, Charlotte Fla years ago. I don't fish for Musky but I use them trolling on Erie for Pics and Salmon. The only drawback is no line counters but no problem whatsoever dragging in 10 pound farm animals. If they can handle big old Grouper and Rays a Musky wouldn't be a problem with a good quality Offshore Saltwater spinning reel.

Monday was the 3rd 50 year wind storm we have had in accompanied with rain here in the last 2 years on the Haldimand (north)shoreline of Lake Erie as well as the two 100 year wind storms in 2 years. Those 2 wiped out my armour rock break wall. The 2 tornados we had one afternoon this summer don't count. I don't regret spending the extra money for the best hurricane rated windows I could buy installed here. Both the BBQ and patio table are secured to the decks 2X6's with 5" lag screws. The wind flipped over my 12" mitre saw complete with legs and outriggers as well as the large table saw. Zebra mussels and bloom algae hanging high from the branches of a huge Spruce 70' feet from the waters edge isn't something you see everyday. I would think a few fishing trips were cancelled this week, I hope.

I like the War wounds on my rods and reels. My Golf clubs I want in like new condition and have refinished several metal woods. Not to the point the wounds may compromise the rod or reels though.

Thanks Ohio. I can't find a matching grate on the Bosch site. Looks like a comparable is around 300 bucks USD, not cheap but what is these days? Someone on another site made a good point. Boiling water overflowing onto the black grate shouldn't have made it discolour and start flaking off. No longer under warranty. I'm going to call Bosch and hopefully talk to a human being that can speak English or understand my poor French or Italian. Hey that's an idea to pay back for all those customer service calls I had with someone I could hardly understand and they I. Select French and start speaking in my deplorable French language skills.

I won't get into the finite details nor regress I promise. The short of it is that a very large pot of water overboiled onto the grate on our NG stove. The grate is no longer shiny, it is so bad the cast steel and or ceramic coating is spalling. Coming off in large and small pieces of scale. A NG flame on a stove burns at around 2000F. Is there anyway to plate this without spending big coin. It is a very good 6 burner residential stove. To replace it is close to 3 grand. I can tell you I paid far less than 1/2 that. There is no heat paint I know of that will withstand 2000F. I am thinking it must me coated with some type of refractory ceramic as it hasn't turned red. Steel or Iron is red at 900F. I can't find a replacement grate for that model not even from Bosch. This stove should last me many more years. I can live with it, my wife is bothered because it looks dirty, it isn't. Any suggestions besides replacing my wife instead of the grate?

Mike once you find the formula let us know before you write a book. Unlike their Smallmouth cousins Largemouth are not the easiest of fish to hook, anytime of year. I swear I've bounced a lure off their heads and they still don't bite some days. Have fun man.

Sorry to get off topic, again. Look at the bright thick 1st growth under under the leaves you missed racking in the fall. Nice fish by the way. 2 species, same depths basically and only 1 presentation, can't beat it.

My Brother in Law has a fairly large landscaping business in Halifax. The 1st time he came for a visit he wanted to know what those people are doing raking leaves up. He said the best thing for our lawns to start a strong spring groth of grass is leave the leaves right where they are. I haven't racked a leaf in 18 years. I haven't had to fertilize since.

Passion isn't the word, fanatic fits best. Did a bit of research today, the US has some numbers for the last 10 years, no much here. The second largest shift is towards Ice Hockey as they call it. The strange number is Rugby that has risen by 45% in those 10 years. I will leave now, thanks.
