  1. I am so glad you two made it through this process relatively unscathed. It is no fun to say the least especially when you cut it so close and require those funds to buy another place. Flipping a house is much less stressful when you don't have to move. First Cliff never use that lawyer again, he gets the big bucks to find simple things like conditional financing, that's Real Estate law 101. I even know that, what if they couldn't get the cash? you might end up being the lender and then dealing with that issue every month. Buyers know exactly what their financing is, especially if credit ratings are such that conditions apply for them. That's bull poop. That Lawyer is fired. I can't say no one cleans like that when they move out, most don't though. We do I know it's just the way we were raised way back when. Usually they will leave a truck load or more of "stuff" in the yard because you have more time and money than they do. I always make sure that it is in the contract they will be charged to take their garbage and unwanted furniture at $50.00 per hour per man plus the price of any rental required and a deposit specifically for that is held in trust. You should see what people leave for you. Women? They will work themselves to the bone regardless of their health God bless them. But we worry ourselves sick when they do that. They all share that female gene. You can ask them to take a break there are people to help but that means exactly nothing. If they don't do whatever it will never get done, the proper way. Micro manage to the max. Just on Labour Day when our friends held the Golf tourney fundraiser, Fay is going around unloading garbage cans and hauling it to the back 40 and she has a dozen young women to do exactly that. She's 77 and had back surgery in the spring after she fell off the kitchen counter top cleaning the tops of the cabinets. I didn't even know there was such a thing. I told her the girls were getting pissed off, she stopped for 10 minutes and then started cleaning off tables. Again we are happy you got through this now go and enjoy your new home.
  2. Bo Svenson, the only red blooded American from Philly with a Swedish accent. He was the original Bufford Pusser in the "Walking Tall" movies in the 70's. The only good ol' southern boy with a Swedish accent. Too funny. The last time I checked we didn't have enough band width to get a good system out here in the boonies. We have Xplornet, A friend down the lakeshore has a "Blackbox" but they need to download a movie an hour or something before they watch it. Nothing live. I would love to get rid of our $140.00 Bell satellite bill asap. Can I get anything better than that "Blackbox" rurally now if anyone might know? There has to be something out there now or is it primarily an urban system? Live sports is a must. Basically everything else is pre taped anyway except the news.
  3. We would up the 10 cents for the bus ride there, that's not cheap. Then use the transfer for the ride back thinking we were pulling a fast one on the bus driver. In 71 I had my own car. Sometimes a different one every day. One day Dominic pulled up in a nice shiny Impala, Lenny 2 time says "you better bring my fathers car back stupid you better bring it back". Lenny said everything twice he said it twice.
  4. Black mini vans have replaced the traditional limos guys. Those eats sound good. It's always nice to put a name to a face. Salumetti is anything in a casing and cured. From sausages to Salami of any type. Pancetta (no letter H in the Italian language close though) isn't a salumetti. It's rolled uncured pork belly.
  5. Very professional looking and it's not done. Reel is on backwards? Looks good to me. Left hand retrieve.
  6. Hummingbird for your price range, Garmin when you are getting into above 800 bucks a unit for the same screen size. Just be prepared to shell out for a new one after 4 years. I know someone is going to say they have had a 600 buck HB for 6 years etc. My 4 year old HB GPS HD combo is not as sensitive as it was when new but for the fishing I do I will use it until it dies. My colour Garmin lasted 15 years but they are not made to last today and sellers admit that. I have to laugh when my Mom called a few years ago to say their new Microwave went for a crap. " It was only 15 years old Son!!!" And I get pissed when some kid at Leons tells me that my 5 year old(to me that's new) big screen TV doesn't owe me a thing it's so old.
  7. I'm glad Dan D chimed in. I was thinking the exact thing "it's only brakes, big deal" just because John doesn't work on cars much brakes can't be a big deal , guys do them all the time. I leave important stuff like brakes to guys called mechanics. Years ago in Italy if your brakes were not done by a certified mechanic every X number of KM's, no insurance coverage.
  8. Go back to sleep Wormdunker, we'll wake you for lunch don't worry.
  9. Yes a great win for sure, 1st in the East and less than .500 I still haven't got to see a game in the new Stadium. We were jumping the fence at the old Brian Timmins to get into Civic Stadium since the early 60's and the Barneys were pretending not to see us.. Front row for Alice Cooper in 71' at Brian Timmins which was the baseball stadium south of Civic Stadium, or was it Bernie Arbor stadium? I always got my B's mixed up.
  10. Did I say he has had some off field problems lately, this guy has had big problems since High School. His Wikipedia page is full of reported problems with this kid. One of his College QB's tweeted if any NFL team drafted him he would be a Cancer for that team, nice. No less than 4 Colleges in his career. Academically ineligible twice that means he was failing or a fancy term for doesn't attend classes. Went from "The" Ohio State University to a small community College in the sticks for his second year, then Alabama where he flunked out again, then to Florida Southern for year 4. Never graduated. Signed by the Colts last year for 1.5 million over 3 years but only $25,000.00 guaranteed after 1 year in Montreal. On the practice squad all season then cut at the end of the 15' NFL season. I'd say he has some problems. Amazing play eh Rick?
  11. And I have seen a few. Tonight Montreal played in Hamilton. Duron Carter who has had some off field issues as of late was told he would play on Special Teams. Something he has never done in his Pro career. Some might call it a slap on the wrist to ask a "star" to suddenly play special teams. He is rushing Hamilton's Punter, blocks the punt, snags it right out of the air and fights off a few Hamilton defenders on the sideline and goes around 50 yards for the TD. I will post it once it gets on the Net. Amazing show of athleticism, a once in a lifetime play in my opinion, very special to see live. He is the son of NFL Hall of Fame member Cris Carter. The video is on Yahoo Sports, I can no longer copy and paste on this site any longer. Google Chrome browser is supposed to help here on OFC but then that gives me problems on other sites.
  12. I still love the smell of Shepherd peppers roasting on the charcoal grill. As a kid we helped do a dozen or more bushels over 2 days. Now I cheat using gas and freezing them rather than jar them in oil and Basil. Less and less every year now. Down to 1/2 a bushel. Most were given away but only after I did them all. The smell of roasting red peppers is my favorite smell cooking bar none. My least favorite cooking thing is cleaning roasted red peppers I'm sorry I was intending on PM'ing you that. My blood sugar has been low all day and can't keep the numbrs up.
  13. That would be a blast fishing from a Toon. I have never seen one close up or far away for that matter. I can see a good size King pulling you around Brian. What does the whole set up weigh Brian? A Go Pro stick is a great idea then we can see you too.
  14. HH that's really funny. Smilin' Lew is what he should be called, the look when he poses with his beauty fish is the "Musky Stare Down".
  15. That nice fish was worth the work I bet. Happy birthday Tall Polock. I have problems typing that word. I was taught it was not a nice thing to call a Polish person. I'll call you tall Pole.
  16. You need someone other than yourself filming. That I would like to see.
  17. Welcome aboard my non vertically challenged former behind the Iron Curtain fishing friend. No one here cares what you fish for as long as you have a nice boat for us to fish from with you. OK I'm kidding, not really but..................... You will enjoy it here especially if you voted for Wynne.
  18. Like I said Art you have a bevy of great information. Surrounding owns self with good people with expertise makes us all look good. One of my sayings is " experience is a lifetime of mistakes, wisdom is knowing how not to make them again". My on the job training in the Mills since 11th grade on weekends and summers gave me a leg up on all the Engineers graduating into supervisory positions after I transferred to operations, where the $$ was. I finally got my Metallurgical Degree after 10 years of night and some day classes at our local University. By then I had a few engineers working for me. It didn't give me an advantage then but did after I took a ridiculously very early pension at 45 and went on and worked as a Ministry of Labour inspector for the province of Ontario for 8 years. A job that I would have done or free actually. As far as batteries sitting on concrete what would the big deal be to sit it on a piece of plywood. That concrete is always going to be colder than the rooms air, so set it on plywood and keep it warmer. Batteries like to be nice and warm.
  19. I look forward to your tall Pole stories. Welcome to OFC.
  20. I would never spend $200.00 for a battery myself, but they are out there. To me $150.00 is what I might pay, max for a good deep cell. I have been buying 90% of mine at Acme Battery off of Parkdale Ave. North in the east end of Hamilton for 30 years. About 70% of retail. If you want a Die Hard for example he will put that decal on it. They are all Johnson Control batteries. 30 years in business says something.
  21. Art I need to come up with a question for you that you don't know anything about, not likely. Ironmaking maybe? I know you would be interested in that. You are one of the most well read men that I have never met. A virtual cornucopia of information. I could spend a good week asking you about stuff and learning from you. You remind me of my dear " Nono " (Grandfather) that I miss badly to this day. I would sit next to him for hours as he taught me to speak Italian and going through every page of a Colliers Atlas that was pre WW2. I have his Atlas and is my most treasured thing I have. He passed in 67'. I will have been the 4th generation of Steelworkers in the family. I wish he could have seen how I turned out, maybe he does. floater, I wouldn't spend a 100 on a basket case battery when I can buy a very good new one with warranty for 150 to 200. If I had a fleet of vehicles on the road maybe. Why would this be a smart thing to do?
  22. I have concerns of our future fisheries when it comes to Asian Carp which unfortunately isn't "if" but "when" they will infiltrate the Great Lakes then spread throughout the entire country within a few years if what I read has any validity.
  23. I have learned 2 things about batteries, 1) 80% are all made by Johnson Controls and the sellers slap their names on them. 2) A battery has a maximum number of charges to full from dead which is really 20%. The more you spend the more charges from dead you have. Never let them die and they will last 10 years, I had one that went 10 years. I leave them on a maintenance trickle charge all winter, switching from each one every few weeks. Looks like you are in the market for a new battery and the new one should last you twice as long. Check the manufacture date on the thing before you buy one. Some are 2 years old when they sell you a new battery.
  24. Just 8 Freshtrax? What about the new riggers, gunnel system, balls, Scottie holders, Leadcore line, a dozen Dipsy's at 15 bucks a piece, $1000.00 of new Salmon specific plugs and spoons, a 100 bucks for the Tackle Mate box to keep them from welding themselves together, bigger screen GPS combo so you don't have to squint to see where you are going, VHF for big water. All that plus many $$'s of little things like rigger clips, teasers, real swivels not CTC Chinese specials that will straighten out like a Bobbie pin with a King on. Forgot the new 36" net, or bigger for over a 100 Samolians. Ooops forgot the trolling kicker for a few grand. And I almost forgot, what was I thinking? Once all that is bought and rigged you realize your 19 foot deep V and 115HP is just not big enough. Time to go shopping for a bigger glass boat of 23' minimum. Now you are all set for longlining on Ontario for big giant Salmies and might as well head to Erie for big giant Walleye. Now we will have to talk about what you will need to spend on Walleye tackle. A few hundred will get you started. Great on you Freshtrax for the wonderful offer to share your stuff and knowledge. The tall Polish gentlemen better watch what he wishes for. Welcome to OFC by the way my tall Pole friend. Start a new thread here and introduce yourself to all the folks here. Just a bit about yourself and what you fish for, stuff like that.
  25. Dan that's hard to believe but hard or not I believe you. You aren't one to make something like that up. Sad. There might not be a single Muslim family in our county, what a difference from the city and here rurally. If there is I don't know where. We must not paint all with the same brush like Dan said. When I was a kid growing up in a Wasp neighbourhood and one of only 2 Catholics going to a Wasp school I was painted by the same brush and it hurts badly. When the survey I grew up in was built a few years before we moved within it there was an application to buy a home, no Jews, Negroes or Catholics, I have seen it. I should have kept it. Shortly after 911 I was called by an engineering consulting firm to work with manufacturing companies that were vulnerable to terrorism (sabotage). It was unbelievable how easy it would have been to cause several millions of dollars damage as well as put many lives in jeopardy if someone knew what button to push or valve to turn and could walk right into these plants right off the street. I hope things haven't gone back to the lax ways we were in pre 911.
