Fang, Lococo's meat is good but for pork you need to go to the Pork Store on Stonechurch and Nebo on the mountain, just off the Link. Only a few minutes from Lococo's using the Red Hill expressway. I challenge anyone to find better pork anywhere. The smoked kielbasa never get all the way home so I have to put some in the trunk.

I can't ever pass the Princess Auto store in Hamilton, the truck automatically puts the signal on and turns into the lot. There is a Lowes across the street and my wife goes in there while I buy things I not only don't need sometimes I don't know what they are for but I know it's a great deal.

Score? Ya think? The air to fill it costs 70 bucks. Happy treading.

Asking for donations (fishing related)
Old Ironmaker replied to manitoubass2's topic in General Discussion
Brian Wormdunker, I can ask my independently wealthy brand new Brother-in-law to fly us up there. He flew his twin engine to Buttonville to see a performance of our niece in a musical at St. Jacobs Playhouse last summer. All the way from St. Louis Missouri, for the day! Flew to Myrtle Beach the next morning to his beachfront condo for a round of golf then flew home to St. Louis. And you know what he probably would if I asked him, he is a good guy and wants to start fishing. I hope he lasts longer than the last Brother-in-law. -

500 KM away is the closest Wall Mart isn't it Rick? Mmmmm, a OFC G2G,( get together) at Lake on the Woods? Interesting. I would pass on the ice fishing derby and head up there in the spring or fall. That would be July and August looking at the latitude on the map. Must be cold in February. I can't believe there wasn't ice last year. On the river no ice, right? I'll gather up the stuff after the games today Rick and will send it ASAP. No picking through it for yourself. -
Nipissing to remain open for ice fishing
Old Ironmaker replied to farsider's topic in General Discussion
Sterling, I have to go back and re read the report, I read .25 to .50% kill rate from C@R through the ice, not 25% to 50%, point 25%. Between a quarter to half off all Walleye released die? I don't think so, I hope not. Now I can't find the PFD in my file. -

Lets go up there Wormdunker. You drive my Silverado might not make it all the way, I'll do the talking to keep you awake! -
I was going to ask for a link, you read my mind. Thanks. Lucas where did you get your Continentals? I'm close to Hamilton. I don't think you got them in the UK, that site spells tires, tyres and the prices are in Pounds! Thanks for the recommendation.

NF -Noma Xmas lights from CT complete garbage?
Old Ironmaker replied to livinisfishin's topic in General Discussion
Sorry to hear that, kids all love Christmas lights, Dads not so much. Noma hasn't been good for years, no one makes dependable lights, a pain for sure. Remember the strings where if 1 was out they all went out. Drove me nuts, thus the donation. My lady still has boxes of indoor lights. I donated 3 huge boxes of indoor and outdoor lights to the Sally Ann last year, now they are someone else's problems. We used to light up our 3500 sqft triplex so they can see it from the International Space Station. No one out here in the winters now but us and the Bush Wolves to see them anyway. I was thinking about buying those things that light up the whole house with stars, no strings, one spot light, anyone have them? On sale at Wall Mart. Want to see people go nuts for Christmas lights? Go to Florida around the holidays, ridiculous. One neighbor lit up his mini van with mini lights, Cops made him take all the red lights out. -
Thanks for reminding me about the winters. I scraped the tires for the Nissan last spring when I put on the summers. Now I have to go out and shop for tires, and then buy them just wonderful. Here comes another OFC tire thread. I think I will bite the bullet and go for Blizzaks.

Nipissing to remain open for ice fishing

Another study coming as well. This study was to study the previous studies using RAMJAM analysis methodology and the next study is to review this study. The only ones getting ram jammed are the sport anglers who pay for these studies. -
At 35K USD a Tesla certainly isn't in my budget. Plus the closest place for milk and bread is a 30K return trip here. If I could tap into 1 of the wind turbines without them knowing, maybe. $44,000.00 for a compact car to me is ridiculous.

Sad but true. Good post Brian, both sad and exiting at the same time. What a difference a day makes. Had to be high teens yesterday afternoon sitting on buddies deck having a cold one overlooking the lake watching him string Xmas lights. I don't know if they can see the lights from NY. Happy wife, happy Louis. Flurries blowing off the lake this morning at 8 AM with 2 plus meter waves hitting the breakwall. This was the worse season for fishing here on Erie I have seen in the 30 years fishing it. I as well as others caught not a single solitary Jumbo Perch this year, not even a dink. The lake was like soup and the fish were deep and hard to find. 3 Pickerel and that's about it. Terrible hot.

A tip for the zippers on your pop ups, boat windows, tents actually anything with a zipper. Rub birthday candles across the zippers, they will be smooth as silk no matter the temperature or lack of use. Metal, plastic or nylon.

Did anyone catch the PK Subban documentary on HBO tonight? I watched it twice, very well done. On again Nov. 20 at 8PM and at 10PM tomorrow night HBO Canada. He is in a Nashville uniform at training camp by the end of the program. He was devastated by the trade, he didn't see it coming. He tried not to show his disappointment but the kid wears his heart on his sleeve. I can see how he can rub traditionalists of the game the wrong way. He seems to try a bit too hard to be popular. Like 10 million dollars worth of a charitable donation. -
Dan, we haven't had any ice here on Erie for 2 years. The 2 bad years before that were the first ice we had for years. The water was so cold the Perch were in 30 feet of water. Couldn't get to them that far out. The pressure cracks looked like mountain ranges and the pack ice on the shoreline was over 15 feet high in most places for a mile out. Most outfitters in Long Point Bay have packed the business in. Nipissing for me this January. First time on the ice in 12 years. I can't wait, I can't believe I said that. edit: only FishFarmer went that far out.

Nipissing to remain open for ice fishing

I don't doubt those numbers that can be caught "square hooking?" angling Rick? LOTW's isn't your run of the mill fishery. Rated #1 in the world for freshwater by many. Where else would be better than where you are? I can't think of one. -
Beats sitting around wishing you were fishing. A bad day fishing is better than the best day working Mr. Beans. You go man!!! I had to scrap a good garage fridge I forgot had a box of worms in it. Lucky it wasn't the one in the house. She would have divorced me a few years sooner.

A fish report, believe it or not
Old Ironmaker replied to SirCranksalot's topic in General Discussion
I'm jealous. Catching was a bonus eh? Look at that sky, not a cloud. Nice, nice. Why did I put the boat away Nov 1st, duh. The best November weather I can ever remember, ever. When I was working I always went south for 2 weeks at least. Cold, wet, damp, windy, flurries, freezing rain, snow. Yuck. This is central California weather without the rain. -

I can guarantee 2 things, there is a kill rate of released Walleye caught through the ice they say is around .25% to .50% but not all, the kill rate of Walleye in a net is 100%. I actually spent the last hour glancing through the 22 page report. I would love to look at it in detail and may this winter when I'm snowed in. I was getting a "I'm back at work" flashback. I didn't enjoy reading reports from scientists and engineers. The thing that stuck out blaringly was their observation on incomplete data. What they basically said in English was this. None of these numbers means sweet F all because not all commercial catches are reported. Wonderful. We aren't talking about loosing a weeks worth of recreational creel studies. These are big numbers that could skew an entire study. I shall read on when I can. -

I would go for the Helix 7 combo for sure. Easy set up and accurate with a nice screen. That system was over 800 bucks when it came out if I remember, maybe more. -
Nipissing to remain open for ice fishing
Old Ironmaker replied to farsider's topic in General Discussion
The days of going out and getting a limit a day are long gone and I've been there done that, the words catch and release had not yet been invented, nor were fishing licences. We will be bringing fish with us if we want a fish fry this coming year for our 35 year Nip ice fishing reunion. To have a great time with old friends, have a Euchre and Poker tourney, eat and drink what we shouldn't and reminisce we will go ice fishing on Nipissing. Maybe challenge a C.O. to a race on the sleds or arm wrestling. Just because we might not eat a fish caught won't stop us from going. Want to eat fish? go buy one, I guarantee it's much cheaper. -

Rick I have a box of ice fishing stuff I will never use again, rods, thrumbing rod, tip up, jigs, etc. Email me your address. I will keep a rod and a few lures for our trip to Nipp this January. Ticha will thank you for the extra room in her sewing and craft room. -

I'm in. I'll just send a cheque. Easier than me learning how to electronically. I should learn. What is Pay Pal? I'm not kidding, I've heard the word. Art I have a contact that does hats and T shirts for me for our annual Golf tourney. Email me a jpeg of the text for hats and T's and I will get a price. I would buy one each for sure. The major cost is based on the numbers of units then the quality of the T shirts and hats, then the size and number of colours of the text. All I can do is get some prices if you wish.
