Sounds first of all like a weak battery. Get yourself a brand new battery, a marine battery, not a car battery, there IS a big difference in the way they are built. Next, put some new spark plugs in the motor. Empty your gas tank if the gas is over 6 months old and refill it with fresh gas and mix with the correct amount of oil if applicable. Now you can try to start it again and see how it runs. If it still doesn't run right, take it to a marine mechanic to be looked at. Good Luck!!

Nice reel, silky smooth, light, looks cool..... That's about all I know about it. I know a few people that have the President's and love them so this must be at least as good but probably waaaay better. At that price point, you are looking at a Shimano Stradic, another great reel.

Sit on top of the home inspector and ask tons of questions. Because he is there as 'a gift' from your agent, there is a fair chance that he will overlook things so the deal can happen. Things like Knob and tube wiring, asbestos, formaldehyde, mould and the like ARE BIG NO NO'S. Make sure you look closely at the windows, roof, plumbing, electrical, any spot where you can check for whatever insulation there is (not too much in those old houses, I lived at Pape and Mortimer as a kid). Make sure that whatever electrical work that can be seen would pass code. Take a good look at the garage too. Most of the points have been covered as to weekly payments (takes up to 4 years off amortization), RRSP Homebuyers Plan (you aren't using it and some of the info mentioned isn't completely accurate - you borrow up to $25k from your existing RRSP, not from the bank and it has to be paid back over 15 years with no tax break on the repayment that has to be on top of your regular contributions, that said, not always the best way to go), TFSA's (loving them for most people who have good work pensions) and RESPs for your future kids. Keep on on small reno jobs in the house, $2k a year is a pretty good number to work with, remember it's an average number, some years may be higher (bathroom reno's, kitchen, roof, windows, etc...). You have to keep up on it otherwise it will become a big number one day and the list will be very long and you will have difficulty selling the house when that time comes. If things have been kept up and the house looks decent, it's easier to get your money out. Good Luck!!!

One of my local stores had 50, 30 and 20lb test line in the Suffix. I picked up some 50 for one of my baitcasters, a frog, a fillet knife (can't have too many of those), some hooks, jigs and odds and ends.

Braid isn't supposed to have memory so we'll see how this stuff is. $3 for Canadian Wigglers????? That's a great price for a great lure to either slow crank or troll. I've caught plenty of fish using them.

It's either the motor or the dreaded multi function switch. Get a circuit tester and see if there is any current to the wiper motor itself, try different positions on the switch. If you are real handy, you can replace the motor, the switch is a different matter, the steering wheel needs to come off along with the airbag so that's better left for a qualified shop to handle. Try rockauto.com for the parts, they ship to Canada and are much cheaper than anywhere here. I have a shipment of parts coming in today and including shipping and taxes, I'm saving 30-40% over what the shop price is nevermind what Canadian Tire or Partsource or any of the other parts stores would charge for them. The only issue is that it takes about a week to get the parts.

I'm going to try frogging this year and I've heard good things about the Koppers frog. That's a decent price on braid too so I'll see what they have at my local CTs.

Wayne, make that a green trailer and that looks just like my Larson. Same bow mount trolling motor (MinnKota AT 55lb). NewAngler, I'd go with at least a 55lb trolling motor. On a 17ft'r with a 3L, you don't want to weigh it down too much, you'll be beating your OMC pretty hard to get around with a really heavy load.

Is your insurance broker with allstate or state farm?? If so, that's all he has to offer. Keeping it separate is smart because if you have a claim on your boat insurance, only your boat insurance goes up, not everything else (house, car, etc...) Call around, spend a bit of time doing it.

Good plan, you are better off going with a standalone policy. Call your local insurance brokers and see what they have to offer. You have to compare policies to see what is and what is not covered and the limits.

I was chatting with the Quantum rep at JB's over at the show yesterday and was looking at the new Smoke and the Smoke rod (really nice looking). I didn't notice any problems with fit and finish. In fact, if I were looking for a new combo, it would be the way I'd go. If I were your friend, I'd send the pics to Quantum and I think they would make it right.

Canadian Tire sells the 3M rubbing compound and it sells the 3M wax in the boating section. Every store I've been to has it in stock. It'll cost you around $40 for the compound and the wax. It's there, take a look, otherwise ask an associate for help.

Dealer cost is one thing BUT, there are dealer incentives that have to be considered, this will only give you a very rough idea of what dealers pay, it's usually much less. Things like buy 10 get one free are very common for dealers so 'dealer cost' is a relative term.

An inflatable is tough to beat. I have a manual model. I was kicking around the idea of getting an automatic until I went through the locks with the OPP boat behind me and I struck up a conversation with the officers, they have had problems with the automatic PFDs blowing up unintentionally when stored wet on the boat. There is a pill that dissolves quickly in them that triggers the arming mechanism, the pill tends to dissolve when it's stored damp and after a while will pop the vest. There are also fairly comfortable foam options available from Lebaron's and BPS that are cheaper. I'd say try a few on and then make your decision.

As a backup, an electric trolling motor is a lousy option. You can walk faster than it will propel your boat, they are for positioning and VERY slow trolling speeds. Your 9.9 is the way to go. BTW, how the heck did you mount that on an I/O??? A bracket on the transom??
