Came across this video: Not sure how this effects other species... but makes you wonder what happens to fish that get over handled, hit the boat floor or worse...

Bluetooth speaker for me and a small am/fm radio for ballgames. I stream sirius radio or other services, it does eat up battery and data. I was considering rigging up a stereo but whimped out. Marley gets solid airtime in my boat too and the "positive vibrations" do help catch more fish.

Hey guys, I'm taking a stab at ice fishing inland rainbows for my first time this weekend. I'll be up at a small Haliburton lake . I've never targeted inland rainbows through the ice.... any tips? I've read to target shallow flats, edges, but also deeper suspended fish (that's pretty much everywhere lol). Does it make most sense to run and gun looking for them or sit put on a good looking point or drop off and lay down some set lines and jig? What setups and baits should I be concentrating on?

Nice work out there. Looks tasty! -
I got the calcutta D when it first came out a few years ago. Overall I like fishing with it, it can do pretty much everything. However I did need to have gears swapped and other parts replaced after 2 years hard use. They aren't built like the old calcutta's.

Kinda strange that Sting is headlining for the basketball crowd. Better than Rush tho, lol. I like the curveball though, show them something new... Drake would of made the most sense but it wouldn't be as interesting!

For me I prefer a late spring, keeps the big pike shallow for a bit after opener. Then I like it to speed up so the musky get into full swing. On the other hand, early spring means good open water fishing in march. The more snow and ice the better though in my opinion for our lakes and rivers, and river spawners. One of the best years I had though was a few years ago after a very late weird spring.

I'm gonna give the area a shot in March. I will be on little esson across the street. I'd be curious to know how you make out...

Those are some big memories... what a fish!

I think you want the navionics plus chip. You can download the areas you need.

Nice work on the cucumbers! That clear ice looks like fun.

Wow! Glad you are ok. Sobering story. Don't let the gear get to you... you're alive. Stay Safe.

Go with the dealer cover. You'll appreciate the snaps and that's a good price. I got a cover made from boatcovers.com... I got the highest grade fabric and it came to around $450cdn shipped. It's solid and holding up well after a few years use but now looking back... wish I spent a few bucks more to get a snap on cover. The straps (i also use bungee cords) can be a bit annoying and its not as snug/taught as snap on. Also snap on is much better if you need it as a mooring cover.

Thanks Brian and others, appreciate the advice. Brian good to know you are not getting "out-holed" by gassers lol. If I'm going to already own the drill, might as well use it on the ice too. Or maybe just go with that killer rig drifter posted!

Do you want to go with hammer drill, reg drill/driver, or impact? I'm thinking the hammer drill is not good for this application... unless you can turn off that setting.
-
I hear you sinker. I move around quite a bit and getting tired of drilling 25 holes in deep ice by hand. I need a new drill anyway so thinking why not use it on the ice as well.
-
Thanks, good insight. I bought the drill boxing day, haven't used it. Still returnable! I'm looking around online for the dewalt drill you're talking about... Is XRP the new lithium ion? I have some research to do...

Live streaming sports does suck quality-wise but like Raf said, just subscribe to a sports streaming service if you need it. That's the biggest thing I missed when cutting cable. I do stream my sports now and the quality is far from HD (I didn't feel the leafs warranted subscribing to NHL gamecentre this year lol) Other than that, cable tv seems like a thing of the past, at least the way it is currently provided. I guess there are a few positives to cable...plug and play solution, easy to setup, supported, some people might like scheduled programming and flipping channels with options, etc. But cutting the cord and a little education you can set yourself up to avoid the monthly cable fee's and watch whatever you want, when you want. Much better that way. I haven't been seduced into the android box, kodi etc yet. But between netflix, online streaming sites + chromecast and a crappy HD antenna with 11 channels, I don't miss cable other than the sports.

Maybe just try calling service Ontario? 1-800-267-8847 Not sure if they'll be able to help you but I've had trouble calling gov numbers in the past and service ON call centre helped.

Thanks Brian. I've got an 8" finbor. Did you test the same drill I have? Those Milwaukee's are sweet looking.....

I'm thinking about putting my drill on the "Clam auger conversion plate" this winter. But I'm not sure my drill will cut it. This is my drill: http://www.boschtools.com/Products/Tools/Pages/BoschProductDetail.aspx?pid=ddb181-02 350lb torque, 2 x 1.5ah lit ion battery's, not brushless. Does anyone have any experience with a drill similar to mine? Also feedback is welcome on the clam auger tool. So many mixed reviews. Thanks ya'll

Didn't the MNR confirm one caught on a trail cam on manitoulin island last year? http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/07/30/gotcha-trailcam-footage-of-cougar-ends-years-of-mystery

I've got the cabelas dry plus suit and it's been holding up for a few years. Keeps me nice and dry. As mentioned check Cabela's sales... mine was half off when I bought it. Edit to add: just checked the US site... it's half off now. Also on sale is the better guidewear. There is the exchange to consider but if you need it this fall, this stuff would be a good option if you can pick it up over the border.

Neat stuff! You gotta keep that streak going! What a great catch and release story to tell people.

I had my boat stored in an outdoor parking yard for a month earlier this summer in scarborough and someone broke in and stole 50+ batteries from trucks and school buses. I was lucky they missed my boat. The property owner was convinced the thieves are using the battery acid to make drugs... not sure if that is the case or not.
