Doesn't matter Brian. I want full cork, if it's too expensive for the manufacturers, I'll get them made. It certainly doesn't take anything away from Lew's combo. It's a great one!
Mice can get through amazingly small openings. You will need to find and plug them. To get rid of the ones already in there do not use poison. Just a mouse trap with a dab of peanut butter. Shouldn't take more than a couple of days.
Juli, Juli, Juli, don't let Frankie hoodwink you with the walleye gold rhetoric. It's an old ruse, tell him you'll start with the gold ring then you'll negotiate whether he can go fishing or not. Have a happy birthday!
Happy Birthday Joey. We should have celebrated that a few weeks ago. Hope Paul got you something nice but if he didn't, that's still good cause you'll have something of shame to hang on him for the rest of his miserable life. You can start with the little things like calling your outboard a "motor".
I love ya Babe. Have a great evening and a cozy Mother's Day.
Fantastic!! They look like Quebec trout. You'd better take that spot to your grave. I'd be curious to know how many "I wanna be your friend" messages you get. Thanks for sharing those. Very nice indeed.
Take the boat, there's nothing wrong with what I see. I have a 2000 Princecraft Pro Series 167BT. Mine has the same symptoms as that one and mine has never seen saltwater. That's the problem with carpeting. Looks good when new but holds water and eventually makes the paint bubble. I might be concerned about the bubbling on the transom though. PM me if you have questions on that boat.
I'd be using the 8'5" for both applications. The extra fast tip isn't ideal but it'll do the job. Your back will thank you if casting heavy baits for more than an hour or two. The disadvantage to long rods for casting muskie baits is that they make doing figure eights more tedious especially if you're vertically challenged such as myself and even worse when your on a low boat. Another thing to consider is two guys on a short boat swinging 8'6" rods armed with lethal weapons on the end is a recipe for disaster....be careful. For trolling I prefer a longer, slow action rod. Even more so if you're using it as a down rod.
While the current trend is towards longer rods, I prefer a shorter rod for vertical presentations. A medium rod with a fast tip in the 6'- 6'6" size. As for the reel, as Stoty says, you really don't need a high end reel at all. Almost anything reliable will do. River fishing makes a difference too and that's also one of the reasons I prefer the shorter rod.
This thread can go viral. Jokes are fine but there can, and will be, a goldmine of truly useful information in this one. Thanks to everyone who contributes.
Proper clothing is important and that includes good footwear. Waterproof matches are useful too. Don't get the fireproof kind, they're no good at all. A good compass with knowledge on how to use it is always useful. A plastic bag or two to cart your garbage back out with you is a good thing. It's always nice to tell a person or two your itinerary.....where you'll be and when you'll return. You can PM Jedi and ask him if worms are important. There are lots of important details to consider when you take the time to sit down and think it through.
Edited to add: Once you've made your list, keep it handy and add or subtract from it as the years pass.
