  4. I think I know Bob
  5. Buddy just called and he bought his today at Home Hardware in Caledonia $28.00 Say's it looks good for the price. I may have a look myself
  6. Caught 1 small smallie Mon. down river from Cayuga 7 hours of fishing. Hope it's better this weekend with the Derby
  7. Just saying, Why go though all that mess, carting wood, cleaning ash, frying the guy close to the stove, taking up space. Get yourself a Mr Heater or a Colman 2 burner cook stove. Most rental huts have propane cook stoves now. Just saying.
  8. Now that sounds good, do you put it in the gas BBQ or Charcoal?
  9. Got the boat hooked up and heading to pre fish the derby on the river, going to be sunny when I put the first Walter in the net Sheephead in the net, cloudy Happy Thanks Giving boys.
  10. Breast down if you do care about the presentation, white meat nice and moist. Best part is the neck if someone doesn't, beat you to it But the best turkey I have ever had was a deep fried, the down side is no gravy and dressing.
  11. I'll be pre fishing the Walleye derby today in Cayuga drifting jigs hoping to find Mr.big Walter
  12. This has been happening in Hamilton harbor for some time now with the estrogen and ammonia coming from the treated sewage water and ending up in the harbor fish. RGB has netted Pike with both male and female organs.
  13. Nice Bob, sure hope he gets the same when he falls
  14. They are a nice looking fish, congrats, almost looks like L.Erie background, thats were I got my Tiger, fishing for Perch.
  15. Nice fish Lew, I'll catch the bait for you if you like Be nice if we had a couple those girls in the river. The only thing my tackle is a little on the light side
  16. Now your talkin, now thats good vitals
  17. Thanks guys, we split the cash 3 ways. Got home, wife and I and had Chinese. Can't wait for the next derby in a couple weeks. Caledonia bait and tackle is having a Walleye derby on the river Oct 12,13,14. I may have to buy someone else Chinese
  18. Looking at your blind Jacques reminds me of my dads deer blind. He lived in New Brunswick. His was a little lower and had VW seats inside and was insulated with a old carpet. I think he slept more in there than he hunted. He told me one time he woke up and couldn't see out the shooting window because the Deer was so close, it blocked the light, he thought it was night He had some funny stories
  19. Thanks Roy. Being Glenn's first year running a derby he did alright, but he's going to make a few changes. One thing he made some money for the kids derby next year Thanks Jacque, that river is just a catch and release fishery for me. The water there Jacque is not like water in your area, the river water is pretty dirty. But I know a few people that do eat the fish from the Grand River.
  20. What a great first year Walleye derby for the Caledonia Hunters & Anglers Association. They had 38 entrants that fished the derby. Weather was great, river was perfect. Anyone that has never tried fishing the river should give it a try. I had 2 newbies with me that had never fished the river before, now they have a different thought about the river, wanting to do it again. Special thanks to all that helped out. OH and the burgers and dogs were great. First place went to Dave Steeves with a 2.11 Lb. Walleye. Second Place went to Craig Marsh with a 2.07 Lb. Walleye. Third Place went to Dan Farrar with a 1.11 Lb. Walleye. Dave left accepting his prize from derby organizer Glenn Moncrieffe Left to right, Dave, Craig, Dan. This was Dave's fishing partners AL & Harvey left&right Nothing like blowing your own horn, but winning doesn't come that often.
  21. Used to fish almost every day, not anymore. Would fish more if gas and ramp fees weren't so much. When your retired, you got to have your priorities. Age has a little bit to do with it. Doing a lot of volunteering fishing related stuff is just enjoyable and it keeps me busy.
  22. If your main line is braid and your leader is flouro 15LB. or bigger, tie a UNI around the flouro with the braid then melt your flouro end with a match, it will make a ball on the end, then cinch your braid.
  23. Good one Lew
  24. Looks like you guys had a good weekend, some good friends and a few fish to boot.
  25. Thanks for taking the time to post that great trip for us all to enjoy Mike. "MAN" what a trip.
