Lew, I have a few fishing rods that need a magic touch
-
Congrats Lew, about time I herd someone that I know win Couldn't happen to a better guy.

A special thank you to all the organizers and helpers that volunteer their time and effort in running such a great event. Congrats to all the winners.

I know my Grandkids love it when I gave them a ice fishing rod & reel Mike they thought it was great. At 2 years old, it would fit in there small hands and be a little easier for them. They had a ball when I took them out on the grass with a practice plug and a pail. A spin cast is easy for them but you would be surprised at how they can pick up on using a spinning reel.

At first looking at you post I thought you were talking about a Portable toilet 12' I think in my book that boat would be safer for me because I can't swim and in a canoe, it's a must for me to wear a life jacket.

That is great Lew. Places like that you don't mind telling people about. You just gave them some business.Wish the place your talking about was a little closer to me.

What happened to Canadian Tire? senseless store policies
Fish Farmer replied to bare foot wader's topic in General Discussion
Hay Beans, They would just look at his avatar and think this guy means business I think it's just the store management, I don't have a problem with our CT. Just sometimes they don't have the sale items in stock and tell me to go to another store. As for auto service and garage work charges is another story, I go else where. -

Gezz Rizzo, you didn't have a marker buoy? I think i'd have dragged my anchor around for awhile or put on a heavy jig in the weeds. At 400, I would have camped out in the boat till I found it. Sorry to hear your loss Rizzo, that even pisses me off, and it wasn't mine

I bought mine at CT, wish Princess had them back then. $40 is a good price. Only thing I learned they aren't a charger, just a maintainer. I did use it for a charger but it got very hot. I had a battery that wouldn't take a charge. I hooked up the CTEK and it brought it back to life so I could charge it. Apparently it desulphurised it.

We did the trek to Hastings and were well rewarded. We launch at Burwell with four scoops of minnows and drove down the lake 17.5 miles east just passed the last windmill. It was a bumpy ride for a hour. We ran out of minnows, the boys wanted to head back after 4 hours, I wish we could have stayed a little longer to get our limit because I was catching using the Perches eye. One thing I did notice which I've never seen at Abino. Perch must be eating Spiny Water Flea, Perch were puking up gobs of them. The boys were so happy at the size of the Perch, catching 2 jumbos at a time called for a net using an ultra light rod and light line. My one buddy broke his ultra light rod. I think next time I go, I'll take a little heavier rod with some back-bone. I missed some hook-ups with such a soft rod, had lots of big fish come off as I started to wind up. Other thing we talked about was, would be nice if we could launch at Hastings, I've heard a few horror stories.

Thanks everyone for the replys and kind words. -
My buddy Bob came down from Orillia for a couple days for some Perch and maybe a few Walleye. Our other buddy Joe from Jarvis also joined in for the good old boys fishin venture. We stayed in his truck camper at Mohawk Marine. At night after a days fishin we talked old times of years passed, should I say 40 plus? We could write a book. We talked about how many fish we've caught over the years and the partying we did, now we talk about the pills we take. Perch fishing had slowed the last couple days so we went out for a few Walleye. We hit the 68 to 70 FOW area between Morgans Pt. and Mohawk. Ran a couple in-lines and a few flat lines, all with a 1OZ. snap and worm harness back 200' to 300' Ended the 2 days with 6, 5 Tues and 1 Wens. till we got blown off. We ate at the Hippo's at Mohawk Marine, Mike the owner makes a great Burg and onion rings, should I say his cold Draft he serves on the patio looking over the Lake after that baking heat we had on the lake, man life is good. I should mention Minnows are hard to get and the Perch fishin has slowed, maybe because of this heat wave. Marked lots, but just not biting. Heres a few pictures I took.
