In the summer of 2006 the wife and I went out west with a new Pop Up camper. After the trip I put a add in a trailer forum much like this one. A young family guy seen the add and asked for more pics......I sent him via email and he sent me the full amount of $6200.00. He was about 300 miles away in PA. We met (3 weeks later) half way in Cortland, NY 3 hours before my son's football game. Tried to teach him everything and anything about the trailer in that short amount of time and we went our separate ways........BUT I couldn't have done what he did, paying for something I never seen.....I couldn't cheat someone because I wouldn't be able to sleep at night...I am glad it did work out for the both of us. BUYER BE WARE....... Bob

That is correct........but what's next, a license to swim in public waters...

Driftwood, nice install job......now you just need to replace that LMS 350A unit with a HDS unit. P. S. a steering wheel would also be helpful.....

Spent 3 days there 2 years ago..........nice people run it.......good meals.........a bit of a haul to our cottage to get our "stuff" there but nothing too bad........dangerous area as far as UNMARKED rock shoals......lost my first prop in 23 years there but kind of my fault.....long story, not worth reading.........fishing was fair to good....another cold front condition but without knowing the area I still caught walleye and some pike so that says something about the area............If I ran said lodge or any lodge for that matter I would hand out maps showing fishing areas and shoals to watch out for. Take some of those cheap blue tarps to cover stuff during the night.......we can buy them here for about $2 a piece......get 3 or 4.....cheap and light weight.....can be used for many purposes.

Water testing the boat and motor is the only way of knowing what you are about to purchase is good or NOT..... If they don't want you water testing the "bargain" there is a reason for that and I'm sure you know what it is....

gbfisher has the right idea on how to spool line onto a spinning reel BUT here's what most don't think about while doing this........the spool diameter that the line is coming off of is usually larger than the diameter of the spool on the spinning reel. Because of this it is IMPOSSIBLE to completely spool line onto a spinning reel without some TWIST. To completely remove the twist you need to run the line off the reel after you have filled it. This can be done by either having someone walk the line out for you and drop it on the ground and then you reeling it back onto the reel OR you can do this by yourself by letting the line off behind the boat while slowing trolling down the lake. BUT using either method make sure you have absolutely nothing on the end of the line while doing this. Bob

Catering to the many special interest/minority groups while using (forcing) my money equals socialism in my eyes.........

I agree Roy with you 100% and unfortunately our government is also heading that way now..........

I went to the Canadian Tire in Fort Erie in June and it was a circus trying to get a license........bad experience....don't go there. And now non residents do need a outdoor card.........the best thing to do is find out if the place you are staying sells fishing licenses......they know what they are doing better then the KIDS that work at Crappy Tire.

My wife and I in 2006 purchased a large pop up camper and cut across Ontario into Michigan and did 17 states, 6500 miles in 30 days. Got home and sold the camper as planned. A good vehicle is a MUST especially if you are heading anywhere there are mountains. We went over the continental divide twice at a top speed of 22 miles per hour. Took over a hour and the tranny temps hit 280 and that's with TWO auxiliary tranny coolers. You might want to just get a small utility trailer and when sleep time comes take out everything in the van and transfer to the trailer. Then a blow up mattress is deployed. Reverse later. I have done this many times with my boat a launches. Never paid to camp, just slept in the parking lot. Closer and better for fishing. If someone questioned what we were doing we always said we were RESTING in our vehicle (never say camping). You will learn the value of a bottle of water on a trip like this knowing you have to keep weight limits down. Rain gear, waterproof sneakers, small propane grill, at least two GOOD flashlights, rope, sharp knifes, small binoculars, small hatchet, FIRST AID KIT is just some of the things I can recommend to take. We weighed EVERYTHING to stay within specs knowing we would be driving over 11,000 feet in some areas. Water weighs about 8lbs per gallon...adds up real quick. I replaced my front brakes with CARBON METTALIC brake pads because they are the best when it comes to stopping. NEVER had brake fade even towing a 3000 lb loaded camper. In the 2006 trip we took 435 pictures along the way. Of course that digital pics...... We would stay a few days without electric and then then next campsite would be with electric so we could recharge our batteries (camper, camera batteries, etc...) I hope you get past the talking stage and really do it........it took us years of talking before we finally did it and are now talking about another out west trip. Good Luck, Bob

Oh boy.......government spends $1.31 for every tax dollar collected........ Now guys, I am very near the boarder.....maybe I should set up a pick up site for you guys (fishing/hunting related only of course). You order and have the stuff shipped here. We meet and I get say 5-10% handling charge........

The government waste $1.31 for every dollar they collect in taxes.......I'm just trying to do my part on cutting down on waste....

I have to agree that if you never had a color screen you will be OK. But once you have color you will never want to go back to B/W. You get what you pay for and for the best 2D sonar on the market right now is hands down Lowrance. HB makes a fine side scanning unit but now Lowrance is about to launch their side scanning unit in Nov ' 09. Here's a peek at what is coming. http://www.lowrance.com/en/StructureScan

Post pictures of the truck you landed.....

Garmin is noted for their GPS systems not their sonar units. Everyone I know that had one purchased something else after awhile. If your unit is having trouble reading at high speeds you just need a simple adjustment to the transducer. Just tilt the transducer SLIGHTLY FORWARD so the sonar beam actually shoots toward the bow. This will insure proper water flow over the entire surface of the transducer..... Bob

I also can recommend http://www.air-ivanhoe.com/ Went there last year.......George has a FIRST RATE operation.....whatever you do don't use Gogama Lodge....... http://www.gogama.com/ it's was DISGUSTING when we flew into one of Dicks outpost.......and I have heard may other complaints about his business. Did Nakina years ago....good fishing but WAY too far to go.....fishing out of Ivanhoe or Gogama was just as good. Bob

Warranty issues is just on of the reasons I gave up with Ford and GM.....I don't feel I should have to FIGHT with the manufacture to have them stand behind their product......they more or less stand to the side of their vehicles (in case the brakes fail again). After 32 years of purchasing nothing but new Ford and GM trucks I finally switched to a '07 Toyota TUNDRA.....this is one SOLID highly refined Truck......it's never been back to the dealer......don't even remember where the hell the dealership is......and you mention hauling wood.......here is just one of MANY loads it handles every fall without even noticing the load. What ever you do don't be brand loyal....buy what fits your needs......do your research....use the internet to bargain down the price.....have them bid on your purchase even before you step into a dealership....it worked for me and can work for you. Have fun truck hunting and good luck with your purchase, Bob
