  1. I would be surprised if our local shops are actively telling customers to eat the perch. Even if the MNR or the city says its all good, the shops know the harbour history and would look rather naive stating otherwise. Like most lakes in the regulations, people should eat fish in moderation. I don't think eating a few perch once a year will harm you but taking your limit to freeze and eat all year isn't the healthiest decision. But then again the catfish guy is still around......who really knows the truth?
  2. So funny I had to share it
  3. I think i'll have to make one last trip to my gilford spot that has similar depth. Thanks for the light line tips. Might try Sunday. My sons novice hockey is over after this Saturdays championship, that means more weekend fishing time! Watch out for Team 6 now!
  4. Thats impressive but all out of foil...used it for baked porkchops. I'll have it ready for view #100,000,0000
  5. TP channels were good a few years back but ever since they did work in my fav channel, I haven't caught any crappie and stopped going. There's lots of channels to explore there but private property limits the shorefishing spots, bring a small boat for sure. If you drive through you'll see some spots on shore but get there early cuz locals are waiting for them, sometimes overnight I think. I caught lotsa small crappies outta waterford but nothing over 9". My buddy caught a 13", biggest I ever seen from those ponds. Check the quarry out back for crappie, its deep and they move around so gotta get lucky. I wouldn't keep the quarry crappie though.....just sayin Good luck
  6. I've heard the after 3pm bite is best for eyes on scugog. Depends who you talk to though
  7. Bigger than any i've got from the area. Nice catch!
  8. I was at the Leafs game last night and they had an instant tribute to him. Played the Hockey Song and displayed his info on the scoreboard. I thought it was a classy move to pay respect.
  9. Good eaters!
  10. That looked fun!
  11. I got a couple spots to try now. Thanks for all those great tips.
  12. Hey guys, hoping you can help me with this one....Can you catch crappie on ice in the same places you catch them in late Spring when they spawn? I have caught late ice crappie in the channels on erie but never tried channels mid to late ice further up north. The channels I fish in the Spring are wide enough and have some deeper areas hitting 10 ft or so. The rest of the channel is average 6 ft. Your experience will hopefully guide me in the right direction. Thanks
  13. always fun at simcoe
  14. Nice fish. I'm gonna try lakers/whites soon instead of perch. What pound test XL is recommended?
  15. Best wishes for a full recovery.
  16. Impressive!!
  17. Sunday out of Gilford was ok in 27ft. Lots of usual small ones but only 10 keepers...biggest 12". 2 weeks ago it was much better. The schools of herring swimming by was a good break in the action and were easy to catch....and release. Also caught a fat rock bass but such a disappointment to see him when you think a slab is coming up...lol
  18. Charlie has been around a long time so he must be doing something good. He has a variety we don't see all the time...sturgeon, tuna, musky. I miss in-fisherman when they had the 3 "entertaining" segment shows....a different variety each and every time. Good format
  19. If anyone has my brother on video when that happened...let me know. LOL
  20. It was actually and I see you still like the yellow! Nice
  21. Craziest thing I ever saw was on the Dominican bus ride to the resort....moped bike with a family of 5 on board cruised right past us and actually cut in front of the bus making us brake. Dad was driving with the 3 kids behind him and Mom holding on the back. Funniest thing I ever saw was in Canada 20 years ago......we were driving home from up north in pouring rain and a couple guys in full raingear pass us in a convertible, top down! I still remember those bright orange and yellow rain suit figures.
  22. I think I may know that spot....caught my PB pike (gallery) there. Big perch cruise through so maybe the emeral shiner is your best all around bait.
  23. I like closed eye but seems every shop I go into only has the open eye so I just buy new skirts for my old ones.
