  1. I've heard some guys use shrimp. Buy a shrimp ring that way you can eat like a king AND catch fish.
  2. Happy Leafs fan here when you can land 2 toronto born players in bolland and clarkson. You know they will give their all next year. Welcome back Bozak, glad he stayed.
  3. Philly has Yann Danis and Ray Emery. I'm shocked cuz Philly always overpays for goalies, looks like they are going in the opposite direction now. Might as well I guess....
  4. Clarke Macarthur to Sens.....Alfs replacement lol. That leaves just Kulemin from that line still left.
  5. Was thinking the same thing....don't they understand yet? Horton especially with all his injuries and getting a 7 year contract, risky business.
  6. Ok here's a question and lets not get into a Leafs bash or support thing here.... if Horton and Ribiero signed around 5.5, whats Kadri worth?
  7. Ribiero to Phoenix 5.5 mill lol Clowe to Devils 5 years
  8. True, still feels like the Wings are a west team. Looking forward to renewing the Tor-Wings rivalry next year, glad Lidstrom retired! The Score seems to have quick updates. Ohh there's another one....Horton to Columbus. 5.3 mill average over 7 years.
  9. Ference signs with the Oilers. Good stability on the backend for them.
  10. I was hoping to see a 10 lber. Huge bowfin, you deserve a pat on the back. Most i've caught dropping whatever into a small hole through the thick green slop. If anyone really wants to try......fish the shallow slop in the summer and I found them the same area as crappie in the spring. Thats GBay though
  11. Hey, there was a recent good post on our oddest catches/moments and a few had bowfin on thier bucketlist. This 26" fought hard and was a surprise catch 20 years ago. Lets see those hard fighting bowfin! or dogfish if you prefer.
  12. Took the family camping Sat night with some friends and had a blast. My son and I tried before dark when 10 minutes in this young lad hooks into a fish and looks decent from the bend in the rod. Another guy netted it and I got a picture which measured 20". 20 minutes later it started pouring....hmmmm Mystery angler and his released prize. Wish I caught for team 6 hahaha! (date is wrong, i reset something by mistake lol)
  13. Now thats an average for an hour! Congrats
  14. I have yet to catch a speck and you catch 30...geez
  15. Like many of us my Dad taught me how to fish and was a few years since we last fished together. Friday I drove up north and fished with my 7 year old son till noon. Got back to the trailer for lunch and Mom & Dad arrived so we went out for a couple hours pike fishing. I gave Dad my magic spoon and he caught a couple small pike. It was good to fish with him again. Besides the pike, he saw the biggest loon he had ever seen, the head was just massive, wish I took a picture. He also never saw the family of 10 hawks on our lake but they made a special appearance that afternoon. Everything seemed to fall into place. Happy Fathers Day!
  16. Cool post! 1. Seagull off Bronte Pier (got it in and untangled - flew away unharmed for all you bird lovers) 2. Turtles and Bullfrogs (all eaten - kidding) 3. Mud Puppy from bottom of Port Dahlousie (got a pic in the album for that one) 4. Had a loon chase my bucktail twice on upper buckhorn. (I moved spots to avoid that confrontation!) 5. Used a small perch and within a minute caught a 4 lb largie (was my PB) 6. Caught a crayfish off worm once. (Used that for bait too) 7. Had a muskie hit a scum frog 3 times in 10 minutes (very stealth like too beside some tall reeds) - neither time got the hook in - no surprise 8. First muskie I ever caught 32" was on a 1" yellow beetle spin (Canadian Tire special) - never saw the lure again once the fish was in the net (released of course) 9. Snagged a stingray on the tail off pier in Clearwater Florida. That was a long fight on medium action tackle. Saw dolphins swim by the same night too. Imagine those acrobatics. 10. Bowfin dogfish whatever off spinnerbait middle of lake. Funniest thing happened when I used to work at a bait store in Hamilton and frogs were sellable back then. I left the screen in the tank and they got out hopping all over the floor around customers. Took awhile to catch them but the customers had a great time. No frogs were hurt or stepped on which was lucky too!
  17. Those are big gar, wow. I've seen a couple decent ones over 30" this year. Neither even looked at my bait cruising by. One swam under the boat, no fear of man it seemed. Caught a small one at the grand river once off minnow.
  18. My sons new PB caught over the weekend 27". Won't be long before he beats my 34".
  19. I can't see why slab grabbers wouldn't work with a tip of bait on the end like a minnow head or maggot. The perch like during the ice season and you're still vertical jigging. Might be tougher with a strong drift but anchor down when you find them. Just off bottom, give it a small twitch or shake, wait for the hit and set immediately. The hook always sets same place top jaw. I kept using bigger and bigger grabbers as the season went on to keep the dinks off...not like that worked. Little buggers eat anything.
  20. Last year I trolled a 4" williams wobbler from early May and caught a lot of little pike with it. I started using 5-6" spoons and started catching more 30"+ fish. I think 6" spoons will be my mainstay this year to keep those snakes off.
  21. Good luck for the trout, seen some nice browns and bows off the skyway pier (lake side) off lures listed above. Also seen them hooked off the pier casting roe in the shallower water on the beach side, early morning or before dark best. I'll be looking for carp this weekend. If you see any in your travels, please let me know.
