  1. hope to get a few hours on the upper niagara on monday morning (shhhhh don't tell my wife...just got back from fishing today and don't won't to spring this on her just yet)
  2. good for you on the pb! Bet those walleye guys wish they had joined you!
  3. wow, it would take some time to break into 52 boats! Why not just pool your $$$ and get the 20 year old to buy your booze??
  4. some might call that an advantage
  5. c'mon, not a scam - haven't you ever heard "you need to spend money to make money"? I suggest you give them whatever they want so they'll free up those pounds sterling for you
  6. When I went up to the cottage last week I took my regular pike trolling route along the shoreline...nothing for half an hour. Went about 20 feet further out and the action was non-stop. Caught 5 or 6 and missed a bunch more in the next half hour before I had to pack it in. For me, difference was fishing along a breakline at first and then fishing deep at the bottom of the break. If you can find them, the fish are feeding
  7. no no no...still some time left to get the boat in the water. One more trip up around here (Friday), and then the boat likely heads Niagara way. Hope to get out on the upper 3 or 4 times this fall, including a g2g for musky closer I hope. Won't be thinking about ice fishing until March when it starts to warm up! Guess I'm kind of a fairweather ice fisherman
  8. I'm not a big cradle fan as I'm not crazy about getting my head that close to a big lure with tension on it! After last week I'm not a big net fan either. I caught a 40 inch fish (approx) last week that my partner managed to knock the suick out of its mouth with the net. Next fish (approx 43) he netted ok, but when I went to get the camera after unhooking the fish he tells me the fish is gone! Had created a rip in the mesh and swam right through it! Was a good day, but no photographic proof!
  9. awesome work guys and great looking fish! What depth did you catch those fish in?
  10. Friday it is (assuming work allows)! I'd love to get out both days but wife/kids don't agree. JB we'll get there some day. No niagara for me yet, boat is still in Barrie so I might give Balsam or Gloucester Pool a shot
  11. if it stays cold there will be 7 inch perch in the barrie marina soon with hundreds of people trying to catch them
  12. Looks like I can get out either Friday or Saturday of this week. Haven't checked my forecast or consulted the moon yet, thought I'd check OFC'ers first on what day looks the most promising.
  13. At least a decent pike will put up a bit of a fight. I have the same problem but with pesky pesky pickerel who always get in the way when I'm musky fishing. Like reeling in a wet dishrag. For a guy who doesn't eat fish this is a problem
  14. looks good, as long as it can make that sound like a jitterbug - glub glub glub - you should be golden. No sound means spend some $ and buy the real deal
  15. great report with fish caught every day, good for you!
  16. Thanks guys for the updates, guess I'll wait a week or two
  17. thank goodness I'm on dial-up and can't watch
  18. eerily similar to last year - play hard but no finishing ability, lose lead late in game, then lose game in OT (or shoot-out)
  19. raptors will make the playoffs and lose in first round, leafs will not make the playoffs and will end up giving Boston the third over-all pick in next year's draft...book it
  20. man oh man they better not "win" the lottery this year (or next year), all I've got to say
  21. thanks for the update. I'm trying to figure out if its worth it to drag the boat from Barrie. Which direction of wind makes it worse or does it not matter?
  22. Anyone know of water clarity conditions on the upper niagara? I'm thinking about getting out there Saturday, but tomorrow looks like a windy day out that way. Is one day of wind (wind from the southeast at 25kms on Friday) enough to muck it up for Saturday?
  23. that was awesome. I have half a leftover pork chop I was going to throw out but maybe not...
  24. I suggest a government grant to study it, preferably a very large amount of taxpayer money.
