  1. ...and I suppose the cars torched themselves and the windows broke because they were old and brittle
  2. I submit this as the dumbest quote of the year...to make light of our troops dying is disgraceful. What these punks are doing has nothing to do with "freedom" of any sort.
  3. wow what a beast!
  4. I watched some of these losers on cp24 yesterday for a bit. I like the "Our Street" chant, how creative. Give me a break, not one of these clowns even pays property tax. Let's hope one day they grow up and are embarrassed, maybe even pay back the people whose property they damaged. Like someone else said...thrill seeking cowards. I would love to see one of the cops finally give one the "billy club to the bag" (another quote)but I don't think you would find anything there.
  5. right on, thats a solid day of fishing plus you got to sleep in and have coffee!
  6. good for you, sounds like a successful opener and congrats on the boat!
  7. Good stuff! My parents lived at lowbanks for a few years and all I ever caught were pesky 5 lb smallmouth (and the king of freshwater fish the mighty sheephead)
  8. Thanks for all the replies. After I posted that message last night I went out to have another look at it. Had considered "reversing" the ball but that would make the tongue too low (at least the skeg wouldn't bottom out!). Anywho, as I'm out there looking at it I see the other neighbour outside - turns out he has about 5 different hitches and was happy to lend me one. Good thing because I was a bit concerned. Went to Head lake early this morning(Norland) and got skunked. Thanks again for all the tips. Next stop will be princess auto before another "last minute trip" springs up!
  9. In my continual efforts to shed my city roots I have sold my Pacifica and bought a pick-up. Being a low vehicle the ball from the pacifica had about a 6 inch rise. Just tried to hook this up on the new truck and of course the ball is quite high now. Last time I borrowed a neighbour's attachment but that isn't an option this time. Hoping to do a last minute fishing trip tomorrow so no time to buy a new attachment for the hitch. With the boat hooked up and the transom saver on, the skeg is about 10 inches above ground level and the rear lights about a foot above ground level. Is this going to be ok or do I cancel my last minute trip? Any other issues (other than bottoming out) to be concerned about?
  10. ..don't believe him, I just tried rolling one and it tore me a new belly-button
  11. very good public launch on the far end of west lake near the lcbo (at least 15 years ago when I used to fish there)in Wellington(??). You'll pass it on the way to Sandbanks. I'm sure there are places much closer to the park to launch into west lake as there are several private campgrounds in the area. 15 years ago lots of places to launch for east lake too. Several along the outlet river, including 2 that were in the provincial park. As I recall, the ones in the park weren't great but that's a long time ago
  12. east lake for numbers. when you get bored of that, try west lake where the numbers are still very good but fish tend to be a bit bigger
  13. I'm with bigbuck - split my fishing between a curado and a abu record
  14. any musky in the connecting lakes?
  15. lucky dogs...I'm missing out this year
  16. if doing it on-line I think you need a qualified "supervisor"...can be your friend...but it takes a bit of time to sign that person up too
  17. five of diamonds...leave everything else at home
  18. yup. we were there at some horrible hours last week and had the opp visit us. Nice guy, let us stick around. Got a couple of muskies but no size (35 inches and 37 inches).
  19. "camp shower" is an oxymoron
  20. seen it on dalrymple and simcoe. neither fish seemed stressed and when I got close enough to take a good look both took off (of course both times I had already tossed a lure in its direction without a response!)
  21. thanks Cliff, good point. I have run the motor myself with the muffs on and its still far too high!
  22. haha that's what I was hoping to hear. My buddy's job is to tell me when I have 5 and a half feet of oil in the 6 foot tube...time to stop sucking! I imagine if I sit on the floor I could practically drain the thing once gravity takes over.
  23. Going to get the boat in the water Wednesday and noticed that the engine oil level is far too high. I guess the marina that serviced it in the fall put too much in. I understand this is not good. Now I am NOT a handy guy. I have access to some long thin tubing but no pump etc and not sure I want to start messing with drain valves etc. Can I put this long tube down into the oil via the dipstick pipe, and basically siphon some of the oil out? (no I will not be needing a breathmint afterwards...I have 6 feet of this tubing). The level is not even close to where it should be, not sure what this guy was thinking. When I checked it yesterday (in preparation for my trip) its a good inch and a half too far up the dipstick.
  24. huge pike, great photos!
  25. right on! some nice looking pike there
