  1. I'm not a fan of OHL hockey and could care less about the colts, but I think you're missing the point here. My understanding is that Windsor passed him by in the first round (understandable as he supposed to be a 2nd rounder)but then also traded down after that!!!To me that's being greedy. Trading your 2nd rounder for some other assets, knowing that everyone will leave him alone, and you'll get your own son at a bargain (lower pick than he should have been). If this is what happened, I commend the colts for taking a stand and selecting this kid. The windsor GM was abusing the "gentleman's agreement" by trading down his 2nd pick. Forgive me if I'm wrong (as I said I'm not a fan) but if he did trade down his 2nd pick somebody had to make a point and draft the kid, just happened to be Barrie.
  2. humber river actually. the boat in the background is actually stuck between a shopping cart and an old tire. Yup, good 'ol humber browns we used to call them. That's just a little one
  3. I would say that was worth the wait! Nice fish
  4. I'll vote for gone in 5. Heard an interview where they were talking about confidence as the series went on, players this, players that, blah blah blah...are you serious? Only reason they are there is there goalie was great, the other goalie not as good. Washington is the better team, just got bit by a hot goaltender, it can happen (doubt it will happen to Pittsburg though)
  5. nuts. I picked up some of the 17lb stuff to use as backing on my musky reels. If its actually 8 I better make pretty darn sure I never get into the backing! The only time I ever do is when you're trolling with the current on the niagara, and hit a snag. You can get into the backing in a hurry when that happens!
  6. indeed I did. That all works out then, I was thinking around $35-40. Somehow i missed the word "used" in linweir's reply. Thanks all for the info
  7. Definitely wasn't $30-40 (is there such a thing as a $30 baitcaster musky rod?) maybe linweir got his used or its probably not the same rod. I bought 2 rods at the same time, one was a lower cost rod which was a Daiwa Heartland S which was 50 something dollars, and the other was the Canadian Specialist which I'm pretty sure was more like $70.00.
  8. oops, my bad. Sure looks like a typo to the non-hunter though Thanks Brian. I even have a septic tank now (that's a little bit better than the neighbour who just relieves himself outdoors)
  9. Just wondering if anyone has an idea on the value of this rod? I bought it a few years back at LeB's but don't see it on their website anymore. I had told a friend who's just starting into musky fishing he could have it for half price but I can't figure out what this thing is worth. Anyone recall what they paid for theirs? If I had to guess I'd say its a $70.00-$80.00 rod??
  10. ...and the bears are following them
  11. good luck and I hope you have a reeeeaaallllyyy big pike fish fry later that day
  12. Great report! Sounds like a very civil day on the water, nice to hear.
  13. you guys are a wealth of knowledge, gotta love OFC
  14. How did you end up doing? Get a partner?
  15. If you went in looking for a tiller and walked out with that you are a salesman's dream come true. Very nice boat! pm me if you are interested in some Florida real estate
  16. I didn't see a single second of the series, so from that perspective its hard to see how anything could be considered a choke. Shouldn't the defending champs put these guys away in 4 games? Anything longer than 4 I say the Sens didn't disappoint and the outcome is exactly what any sane person would have predicted (Pittsburg moving on)
  17. start working out and keep the canoe
  18. classic...looks great. Skunk pattern would be a good look too
  19. Ron that price appears to be unbeatable, but Oshawa is a bit too far for me! Kickingfrog that link was definitely not dial-up friendly, but worth the wait. Read the reviews where they ranked it against 3 other higher priced reels and the curado came out on top. looks like a good value...now to find a rod to match it up with...
  20. none available at the Barrie store on Bayfield. They told me to try Mapleview, I told them I don't think so...not driving through south end Barrie traffic to find they are sold out as well!
  21. bosh thanks for providing that link (the page actually opened fairly quickly) I see that is the same curado I was looking at, also see the lower cost calcutta's on that page. I've got 2 friends who want to try giving musky a go as well. Might set them up with a Cardiff, price seems reasonable for a beginner package. I had thought a 6500 would be the way to go for them, but the price she had on a 6500 was up over $200. I didn't know they had gotten that costly!
  22. a good question. I just went to my local tackle shop if they could order one in, and the curado 300E I saw in the catalogue sure didn't look like the musky reels I'm used to! I told the lady to keep looking because i want a musky reel (ie pop can)! The only curado 300 she could come up with was a low profile thing in green. I guess this is the reel people swear by? I also briefly looked at calcutta's in the catalogue. Looked like the only one in my price range might be a Calcutta 200 (??) I forget the exact mode but it wasn't too much over $200.00 if I remember correctly
  23. when I saw where you were from I figured you might have stopped in for the sale! Thanks to everyone for their replies...I'd still be waiting for the BPS site to load
  24. oh man there are some bad places this could go all the best for your search for boat. I don't know much about these inflatables, so I'd probably vote for small canoe instead or even a small jon boat
  25. hey Bosh, you want to go pick one up for me?
