  1. Rather than print this thread and pin it as a tail on the owner of this establishment, wouldn't it be nice to have the business owner or staff sign up to OFC, login and describe their work performed and justification for the charges. Oh the dream. I would dispute this vigorously and ask everyone I know to tell 10 friends about the experience.
  2. I used to take a former employee fishing a couple years in a row a few years ago. He was new to fishing and always fished a bucktail spinner on light tackle gear. We were targeting pike and bass. This guy was an A1 tree whisperer. Wild casts towards shorelines and up in the trees while I has jigging for bass pitch and flip. He almost always got his line out of the tree on his own. Go figure. Anyhow, one day after his tree whispering was wearing thin I suggested he try casting from the other side of the boat toward the main lake. After 3-4 casts things got wild. I thought his rod was going to snap from all the action. He kept his cool and got the fish to the edge to the boat after a very long fight. I was net-man the day he reeled in a carp he accidentally hooked in the tail as he was reeling in his spinner. What a time. lol
  3. I was solo fishing at Wildwood one day the year I bought my first boat. It was a rough day of fishing (due to being such a pressured body of water) and weather was not so great. Anyhow, finally got into fish and in one case my favorite spinnerbait fell victim to a pike. I lost the fish and lure. I did all I could to entice the fish to strike again. No luck. I moved on. The weather improved throughout the day and so did the fishing, though only marginally. I saw a fellow angling buddy across the water making his way to me. We had pleasant exchanges catching up considering we hadn't chatted for a few weeks. Then conversation turned to how the day was going. I shared my story about that damn pike and how my day turned worse and finally improved somewhat. He went silent, turned his back and returned to me with my spinnerbait while almost laughing himself out of his boat. We had a great laugh at my expense. A year or two later I come to find out that was the only damn fish he caught that day and it was really a smaller sized hammerhead pike. We still chuckle at times when we recall the day we tag teamed fished but from separate boats.
  4. WTG. Glad it worked out for you and your buddy.
  5. A friend of mine once made up a sign "beware - property protected by pit bull with aids". If only it were true. I hate freeloaders and thieves.
  6. Hey hey Skipper Ron! Nice to hear from you. I hope you had a chance to get out in your boat this summer. Cheers, Mike
  7. I read on FartBook the boat belongs to someone else and is not pleased and concerned over future "street justice". If that became a reality, it's a pretty sad state of affairs.
  8. Sorry for your loss. RIP. You seem like a focused, driven, determined individual to carry on with the event. I think of my Dad daily. We lost him last summer. His health was not a good situation for the last 10 years. It took me a while but I am happy now he is not suffering. I'd love to have him back. I found recalling and even discussing at times the memories with close family and friends helped.
  9. If it were a good weather day when you plan to go and you went to Long Point, you just might always go there in the future. If you only have a few hours to get away, Wildwood is certainly an option. Whatever you choose, it would be great to hear how you make out. We like pictures and whooper of a fishing story. True or not.
  10. Welcome to the forum. If you own a reliable boat ideally 16' or bigger, you are in a great part of the province to target many fish. I am sure you will find good riverbanks as well with some searching this site, google maps and private messages to forum members you will meet here. Art offered some great advice.
  11. I am not sure of your situation (what fish you want to target or size of boat you have if any) but I'd suggest you go perch fishing out of Port Bruce. An hour drive and you are likely fishing within another 30 mins more (providing you have the right gear - boat, setup). 1.5 hours you are at launch in Long Point inner bay else likely Lake St. Clair. Wildwood just isn't worth the $25 entry fee for me to fishing such a pressured body of water and typically large amount of boat traffic if its a nice day. If you do go to Wildwood, pike and bass are in there. Work for them. I docked there for 3 years when I first became a boat owner. My relic boat at the time and unseasoned boating skills matched well for the water. Hopefully this is helpful. Tight lines and fair winds.
  12. My personal rules are simple and they work for me. Maybe not you. Doesn't matter. Each their own. 1) wear my inflatable always else a PFD if things get tricky, exception 2) when on big water (Erie) regardless of depth, range from shore or weather conditions, PFD is on. Don't care how hot the summer day gets. I am happy clam to be fishing while making a fashion statement. 3) if you're in my boat, you wear my PDF or the one you brought with you.
  13. Chew on carrot sticks if you have too. I would think some weigh gain would still be better then puffing chemicals into yourself. At least with food intake, you can choose some form of a healthy alternative. I know folks who used the e-cigs and all went back to the real thing. Either way... Good luck!
  14. Meh. NHL and NHLPA can suck a pickled egg IMO. I am not ready to go back to watching hockey yet. But for those who enjoy watching the game, hopefully you will get more options rather than a bunch of channels airing the same game.
  15. I don't skip meals and have the gut to prove it. I am sure fish are the same. Find the bait fish areas and you find hungry cruising fish.
  16. I have had average success when out fishing this year. My issue has been the weather was poor the majority of times I was available to fish. I even had to cancel a few outings.
  17. What a tragic, avoidable situation. Wow. Life won't be the same for many many people. My thoughts are certainly with the family and friends of the young lad who lost his life.
  18. I seen a sign for a bait shop/taxidermy business directly beside Mainstreet Landing Pub. And speaking of the pub....one heck of a great spot to tickle the taste buds or wet the whistle.
  19. Lake Erie perching for me and the neighbor kids on Saturday - weather permitting.
  20. I still think the "go fishing" advice is solid and should be followed.
  21. Welcome. Nice looking fish there. Tight lines!
  22. Awesome. I fished there back in May. It's a nice body of water and productive fishery.
  23. Will do. I am itching to get out but Mother Nature and/or work has caused problems lately. I'll get out though and be sure to post a report.
