Today I was fishing some really shallow, gin clear water (about 1ft) and I spotted what was probably almost a 40" pike, I casted a white tube to it and twitched it past the fish a couple times but it got annoyed and swam off. My first mistake was using a wire leader which I'm sure he saw, but I was wondering if there was something else (besides a fly) that I would have been able to try to get him?

If you're in need of bait it's a great chub river, but I haven't caught anything else there.

Yup, infact there are a few flies that move just like a flatfish, I'm sure they would hit them.

Well I think it's fairly obvious that the fish in 6" of water are near impossible to hook fairly, but without a doubt if they are silver enough they will hit a fly.

Not if anyone sees you you can't... Sadly quite a lot of that is true, however I've had some great days where I've gotten over 5 fish in a couple hours.

Yup. Always get a laugh watching guys reeling righty where they have to switch hands every cast, left is right!

8 weight is fine (provided you have enough backing), fish closer to the mouth of the river so you get the aggressive fish instead of the zombies. Any bright streamer will do the trick, also bring egg flies in your standard colours. A less popular choice but one that I've had a bit of luck with is a very large stonefly, it tends to get some of the picky fish.

Ya if you can get out to HH it's supposed to be awesome, at harbourfront you'd probably need to chum though since the fish tend to be a bit more scattered.

Lots of places around the gta, try chumming an area around harbourfront or the islands the day before, then throw out a crayfish fly and hang on!

Nice, be careful on that dock, it's private and the owners aren't very accepting of fishermen.

I know there is a member who swears by the bow river bugger, he uses it for Brookies but I'm sure browns would take it.

what if you tried turning the chair to the side so he was facing the side of the boat, and use some support on the floor to hold the right side of the chair, as far as securing it I'd being a bunch of bungees and rope and see what you can do.

Those baits look awesome! Not sure if they'll really make a difference but I'll wait for the reviews

well if he's staying in his seat could you not just carry him onto the boat and put him in the seat? Or does he need to be in the chair for some reason?

Does he need to be up on the bow for fishing?

my fly rods, when I get the fish dialed in on gear I'll switch to the fly and make all the bait fishermen jealous LOL
