  1. I emailed them and they have rentals! thanks Gerritt!
  2. I've tried all sorts of spoons, I think that it's in part because until this year I've been landlocked. Also incase you haven't noticed I can't drive yet and I'm in a gta suburb, kinda hard for me to get out whenever I want.
  3. Ya, welland area I might even buying a used one but I just bought a brand new scott and it's still being built, anyplace in hamilton I could get one?
  4. Think they'll be in the Holland yet?
  5. Any other options? I emailed outdoors oriented and they said their rental season doesn't start until may.
  6. Ya, I looked at them, what they say on their website leads me to believe is that I can only rent if I'm going to buy a new boat or am I wrong?
  7. no, I'm not doing the niagara river if that's what you meant, and for the record ya, I can paddle that fast! I'm doing the welland canals.
  8. Alright I am heading down to the niagara area this weekend and I would like to have access to a canoe does anyone know where I could rent one, it would need to be within the St. Catherines, Welland, niagara area, we can't drive very far with it.
  9. I think they have suggested everything so I'm just going to answer the question, for some reason I have never been able to hook into a pike, don't know what it is, I've tried countless lures in countless situations I really hope that I can get the hang of it this year because I've already entered a pike tourny!
  10. I guess Obama doesn't like fishing! "which they say would disrupt commercial barge and pleasure boat traffic" you could just make a device to raise boats over the nets! and if the US wants to ruin their lake then fine let's just hope canada puts up every effort at sault st marie and every other entry point!
  11. Judging by the fly selection he was after everything, I'm not sure about the quality of the reel but it may need to be replaced, definitely replace the line and tippets. With that weight you should be able to take on anything, just not the really strong things like salmon or musky. Also be sure to carefully check the rod for any defects (hairline cracks, thread unspooling, etc...) if you find any you may want to reconsider using it for the same things, you could probably still use it for small trout and panfish if you find any defects, just be careful with it. P.S. If you have to replace anything instead of trashing it you may want to look up it's value online, some of that stuff is pretty collectible.
  12. I'm going to go to a spot in one of the bodies of water in st catherines, water temp is about 40 what do you think I should use? Plastics? Tubes? Jigs? (sorry, posted this before I realized Bill's post still is there anything else I should use?)
  13. Hoping to try for some early season pike, do you think that surface lures would work or is it too early?
  14. where was that? if you don't mind me asking.
  15. I checked up on the species present and there are suckers in there, the crappie and them are the only ones who migrate and it would be pretty hard to mix up a sucker and a crappie.
  16. I checked out beaverton on goog. maps looks good, and a lot closer than some of the lake ontario tribs. I'll look forward to that message.
  17. Great thanks for the help, I think that I'll check out the open section of bronte this week for some steelies!
  18. Thanks, I didn't think of that, well i'll be ready for it other than that got any advice for the run?
  19. Hi, I'm new to this forum, I know that this fish is not the most popular but I have an itching to do some fly fishing now that the rivers are free of ice, does anyone have some suggestions for how to catch these (preferably in the gta), are they even running yet? Thanks.
