  1. Hey Rich, I did a quick couple hours between storms on Sunday near Kitchener (so not quite your area). The water level was surprisingly low given all the rain and there wasn't any more current than normal but the water was pure chocolate milk so not surprisingly I had nothing to show for it. Can't speak for Brantford but that's what I saw.
  2. Love these birds. Here's on fishing on the Grand a couple years back that I managed to film: hard to see in the video but he got himself a fish on that dive. And some photos I've taken of them:
  3. Very sorry to read this Wayne. My deepest sympathies go to you and your family.
  4. Nice job guys. That 46 is a real beauty. Thanks for the report.
  5. Great stuff Simon, leave some for me - I don't get back to NW ont til August!
  6. It could also be an immature bald eagle. I was with a biologist fishing up near Thunder Bay when I pointed out a golden eagle only to be told that it was an immature bald. They look very similar but the balds are more common. Of course that was NW ontario so it might be different down here. I did find this with a quick google which might help: Wikipedia Bald Eagle Article "The plumage of the immature is brown, speckled with white until the fifth (rarely fourth, very rarely third) year, when it reaches sexual maturity.[2][5] Immature Bald Eagles are distinguishable from the Golden Eagle in that the former has a more protruding head with a larger bill, straighter edged wings which are held flat (not slightly raised) and with a stiffer wing beat, and feathers which do not completely cover the legs.[7] Also, the immature Bald Eagle has more light feathers in the upper arm area, especially around the very top of the arm." Hmm, looking at their pic I think your right but I'm no bird expert:
  7. John I've had great luck on the Grand using the top left style (I was using a Rebel popR but same thing) for smallies at all times of the day - in fact my last day on the Grand last year my favourite one broke off on a backlash and floated down river past me - I nearly cried because that lure had been so good to me
  8. Cabela's has the prodigy on sale again - I had this guy for 2 years now (a leftie as well) and love it - my favourite reel. Cabela's Prodigy. Tempted to order a backup now
  9. Great report Mike. Who needs Quinte when you can put together a nice weekend like that.
  10. I think I just wet myself. Beautiful boat!
  11. Great right up Sinker. Really well written report, makes me want to hop on a plane right now! Thanks for sharing.
  12. Yep, definitely getting jealous of your yard again. Slip floating for walleye that close to your house - it's juts not fair.
  13. There's a place called zoom zoom storage near my place at bayview and John, can't tell for sure if they have room for boats but they do have some outdoor storage. Map to ZoomZoom Bayview and John Give them a call and ask: ZoomZoom homepage
  14. Soon - very soon I hope. We've booked the Thunder bay boys trip for August this year but might try to sneak up North before then and get some fishing in if the GF will give me an afternoon off
  15. Sounds like a fun weekend guys though those rain photos sure look miserable. Glad to see it cleared up and good times were had by all.
  16. Classic NW Ontario opener weather Simon Nice mix of fish there, glad to see the softwater reports flowing in from up your way.
  17. I've been on Lovesick a couple times but never managed to do terribly well but there's lots of nice looking structure (up in the NW corner behind the islands for sure). Here's some photos from the trips Lovesick Sept 2007 Lovesick Aug 2007
  18. Nice stuff Steve. Good to see the simcoe softwater reports!
  19. You know the season has officially begun when Snagmastrel is reporting and he's not wearing a shirt! Great to see you back man and congrats on finishing school.
  20. Great report Mike, shame about the fish but they'll be there next time. Perfect one line report right there Bill
  21. Great report Mike, nice to see you out on quinte bringing in some nice fish.
  22. I've been using it on my spinning gear for 3 years now with 0 complaints. Using it for jigging here in the GTA and up in Thunder Bay and also for smallie hunting with tubes. Yep it frays but never to a point that I've felt like it was falling apart and I've never had a break off. I'm using light stuff though - 6-8lb on a medium or medium light rod so I can't speak for other applications but I'll keep using it this year.
  23. Great post JJ - big points for the R theme
  24. Great report U.F. Thanks for all the tips and great pics.
  25. Great report as always Drew. I knew there was an ice report missing somewhere. Now to explain to the boss why I haven't done any work yet today
