Big congrats, I know how long you've been hoping to get that monkey off your back. I guess you can sell all the ice gear now and settle into contented retirement. But if you decide to give it another go I'll make sure to keep the day free
It's funny to see how unspooked the perch get - nothing seems to bother them ( at least until a pike comes flying in ). Great vids Terry, gonna have to try doing the same with my camera if I ever get out there again - poor mans DVR option
There was one at our annual fishing trip this year that was always looking for handouts:

I agree that you shouldn't feed them but damn the cute little buggers make it hard don't they?
I picked up the 76cx last summer for $200 (refurb unit from gpscentral) and I'm very happy with it. The fact that its waterproof and floats is a big plus (was in my pocket when I fell out of the boat this year and still works fine). Just don't forget the cost of the maps when thinking about it.
It's actually pretty baggy stuff, I've got a medium and i'm 5'7 170, the XL may actually be too big but it's tough to say (better too big than too small I guess). The exteme has more insulation than the regular suit.
I'm thinking about getting out to cooks this weekend, depends on the snow Saturday (might go later in the day if it stops early) and the cold Sunday (won't forget the mr buddy heater this time). Lexxington and I went out last week from Gillford road and got into a few but not loads. If anyone wants to meet up I'm in (on foot however so no 5 mile walks please )
Nothing like a great Solopaddler report to help with the new years eve hangover. All those smiles and fish make it clear that it was a couple great days, thanks for the report.
No plans just yet, going to wait until I've had it out a few times and see what tweaks I find myself wishing it had (skirt, holders, fishfinder bar, etc) and go from there.
And it even fits my car!

I've been wanting to pick up a kayak since Lexxington first mentioned fishing from them to me over 2 years ago. Finally found the boat I wanted for a nice price so I pulled the trigger. The guys at Outdoors Oriented in St. Catherines were a great hepl and made sure I had it strapped on really tight before I headed for the skyway. Gotta admit I was a bit nervous driving on so so road conditions with this kite on my roof but nothing budged (obviously or this would be a different kind of post). Got a few funny looks from people going by me with a yak on the roof on new years eve
It's a Native Watercraft Ultimate 12'. A canoe kayak hybrid if you will. Actually the same boat jedi angler bought a few months ago though I didn't splurge for the super light material (I'll let you know how that decision works out at the end of next season). Now I just have to sit here and stare at it for 4 months, sigh.
Thanks for making my day Simon, about the only way that could have been better would have been if Bert went through the ice at the end . I think this one will be in the running for best ice fishing video of the day. Thanks
