  1. Nice recap Kemper, you had a great year on the rivers and the lakes, looking forward to many more reports from you in the new year (or earlier - looks like this weekend might be ok)
  2. Damn nice month, I'd love November too if I could pull that off rather than just sitting around whining about the weather . Crazy pike story there, talk about a survivor. Thanks for the update
  3. Great report Ben, nice to see you've been keeping busy up there. The little girl story/pic is great.
  4. Great recap Steve even if it's only November - funny how snow makes you want to look over the years pics . You had another great year - can't wait to see what's up your sleeve next year.
  5. Well done, really get the sense of being there. Thanks for taking the effort to retype it, can't wait for part 2.
  6. I've got breathables and even with long underwear and double wool socks I found myself going a bit numb fishing the rivers in October (wading up to my waist at all times). That said they're great for every other time of the year but I think next season I'm going to have both available.
  7. Was a blast fishing with you as always Paul - even with the little adventures . That bottle has been on many a fishing trip and never fails but damn does it leave you with a pounding headache the next day.
  8. What happens on the launch stays on the launch right
  9. Was great meeting you at the GTG Shawn - some great fish there, well deserved buy a bunch of guys that sure put in the effort. Congrats!
  10. Great stuff. Congratulations on the PB! What a nice way to end the season.
  11. So last week I get a note from Lexxington asking if I was interested in sharing a boat and a cottage with him and bassmasterMike. Freezing weather, big water, fishing styles I don't know (deep trolling) - bring it on I say . We took off Friday morning and by 2pm had the boat ready for the first trip <a href=" title="The ride by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3015/3036591852_3383a068aa_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="The ride" /></a> Friday was absolutely beautiful on the water but putting that cover up would certainly pay off later but Friday we got out to check the locations and I got some lessons on planers, riggers and lead core - thanks Paul. We didn't get any fish but that was fine - not often you get this in November: <a href=" title="Waiting for a bite by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3023/3036595242_83f185c8f3_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Waiting for a bite" /></a> <a href=" title="The last time we saw the sun by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3207/3035763797_be5b7d67b3_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="The last time we saw the sun" /></a> After pulling back into perfect vue (fine place by the way - nothing super fancy but did the job - no complaints) we put on the pasta and opened up the big bottle of wine <a href=" title="Eating like kings by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3228/3035765629_c4fb2e72fd_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Eating like kings" /></a> After polishing that bad boy off we grabbed our beers and headed over to do the rounds of visiting. It was great to meet everyone and put some names to the board members I've read of over the last few years. Great bunch of guys all around. I took some pictures of the gang but they all came out pretty bad - might have had something to do with the way I felt the next morning. Good times So obviously we weren't out really early Saturday and the fact that the weather had taken a nose dive didn't exactly make us rush . Boy did I learn to appreciate boat covers - Paul I love your boat. Once we did get out we dropped back the lines and had just sat down to get comfy when Mike's rod went off. After a succesful planar board release Mike had our first of the weekend, a nice 6 pounder: <a href=" title="Surgery by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3026/3035770659_d600938f45_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Surgery" /></a> <a href=" title="First fish by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3194/3036607834_a7b27b12eb_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="First fish" /></a> Here's a recap of the next 8 hours: <a href=" title="Rain and more rain by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3046/3036610738_afa999b56c_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Rain and more rain" /></a> As the end of the day came Paul made one last change - a spoon back all the way on the lead core line and shortly after the line just stopped. This was a no doubter and took Paul a while to bring in all the time wondering if it was a record sheepie or the worlds biggest perch but eventually he got a good luck and the grin went ear to ear. The gut on this guy looked like it was just about to pop it was so big: <a href=" title="Quinte Gold by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3226/3035784801_40b2ffa4d8_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Quinte Gold" /></a> The scales bounced a bit as this girl was still full of fight - bounced anywhere from high 12 to mid thirteen, here's my pic showing 13 11 <a href=" title="The proof by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3276/3036613088_98cdcb42d2.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="The proof" /></a> Congrats to Paul on a real beauty and my first up close look at the famous Quinte walleye I've heard so much about. After that we tried to duplicate the luck as we started to see lots of active fish coming up to look at the cannon balls but it was getting dark so we headed back - great way to end the day. <a href=" title="Sunset by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3228/3036626812_d481a1694a_b.jpg" width="1024" height="337" alt="Sunset" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/emosworld/3035788103/" title="Sunset day 2 by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3272/3035788103_a49a395e00_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="Sunset day 2" /></a> Today we wanted to give it a bit of a try before heading back to town. How bad could the weather be? ummmm..... <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/emosworld/3035788473/" title="This is fun? by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3057/3035788473_732bf4a9f9_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="This is fun?" /></a> Took us three spots to find a launch we felt safe using but we gave it a shot for 4 hours but didn't get anything. We were all huddled up under the cover with the mr. heater on full - have I mentioned how much I love Pauls boat cover? So that's my first GTG report - no fish but a fun time so thats ok, only 6 months til the opener right?
  12. Great report Mike. Was great meeting you - wish I could remember what was so damn funny
  13. Congrats, that is one massive fish, hopefully they loosen up for the weekend - we'll see. . Also love the scenery shots, thanks for sharing.
  14. Better not be - Rumour going round that Lexx is paying the way if we pull in a biggie and we aren't arriving til Friday - daddy needs a free fishing weekend!
  15. Now that is one perfect day. Four nice fish plus you didn't break your PB so you have still a reason to get back out there this weekend . Congrats.
  16. Ice looks perfectly safe to me - just make sure we aren't reading about you on some Darwin award site.
  17. Hey everyone, looks like I'm gonna make my first GTG. Sharing a spot with Lexx and BassMaster Mike. I've packed up the tail dancers and told the boss he won't see me Friday - going to do some shopping today (technically just for groceries but if I happen near bass pro well you never know what you could find). Looking forward to a fun weekend, haven't been to the area since the opener back in May: <object width="400" height="300"> <param name="flashvars" value="&offsite=true&intl_lang=en-us&page_show_url=%2Fphotos%2Femosworld%2Fsets%2F72157604906614921%2Fshow%2F&page_show_back_url=%2Fphotos%2Femosworld%2Fsets%2F72157604906614921%2F&set_id=72157604906614921&jump_to="></param> <param name="movie" value="http://www.flickr.com/apps/slideshow/show.swf?v=61927"></param>'>http://www.flickr.com/apps/slideshow/show.swf?v=61927"></param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/slideshow/show.swf?v=61927" allowFullScreen="true" flashvars="&offsite=true&intl_lang=en-us&page_show_url=%2Fphotos%2Femosworld%2Fsets%2F72157604906614921%2Fshow%2F&page_show_back_url=%2Fphotos%2Femosworld%2Fsets%2F72157604906614921%2F&set_id=72157604906614921&jump_to=" width="400" height="300"></embed></object> See you guys up there Sean
  18. Hard to believe those photos came in November - wacky weather for sure. Great fish Justin, those 'eyes are impressive to say the least. Looking forward to the next report from your neck of the woods - shirtless in December?
  19. Great story - what goes around comes around for sure.
  20. Nice catch - love the small/large comparison picture. Thanks for sharing.
  21. Very cool Wes, Kudo's to your wife for the great shots.
  22. Another beautiful report Mike, thanks for sharing and reminding us that the hard water season is still a while off.
  23. Congrats Cliff, great job and well deserved!
  24. Oh man don't tell me that bigugli, I just bailed out of a family disney trip (7 days hanging out with my brothers bratty kids). Now I've gotta rethink the whole thing! Oh and to stay on topic, I agree - the next 2-3 months are painful, I have to admit that it's time to organize the lures that have been scattered into 100 different planos and clean the gear
  25. Nice way to spend the afternoon/evening. Gotta love deciding to go at 2 and being on a great spot like that an hour later. Keep the reports coming!
