I also see that limits of walleye in the ottawa river have dropped 1 ,to 5 as the new limit,and no fish over 15inches till june 15th...and the delayed the season 2 weeks till opener...its about time,we have told the MNR,that we still catch fish with eggs and spem in them several weeks after the opener,im always afraid to keep a fish the first few weeks after opener just for the rerason.....and sometimes its hard to tell the difference between the males & females...well at least it makes it a little better now,i can live with it no prob....cheers

I think its a matter of personal choice , i have been running 2 big-jons captains packs since 1990,and they are still working great...all the electric middle to top of the line models from all the big 4 companies all work well,and some have a few options that other ones dont have,but figure which ones will suit you best,for example big-jons can go up & down,the boom arm,you can just grab and lift up,its great,and they are all aluminum,never rust,so just see what ones are best for you,and the price,just go to all their websites and do your homework

WOW...holy crap man thats terrible bad,bad luck brother !!!! man i didnt think there was anyone else out there that had the bad luck like i do....man i feel for you,thats all really too bad,and being this time of year with all this crappy weather we have had,by the way last year at this time it was like 15 degrees out,i havnt even had decent weather to put my boat away yet either,well at least you can see the humor in it,and that you didnt snap and go postal on anyone !!!!!and at least the ice didnt sink your boat....and i know for a fact that that has happened down there before,well its too bad that you didnt catch any fish,cause then you could have at least said,that it was worth it...take care and look forward to next year ,and hope that the weather and the fishing are alot better,and by the way 2 weeks ago i just dumped my brand new lund right off the trailer ,at the ferry launch and put 4 huge scratches ,on the side and put a nice hole in the bottom of the boat,on one of the strakes that go down the middle,fortunatley its not through the hull,but almost...so see what i mean its my kinda luck that you had. ..we must be brothers..LOL..LOL..LOL cheers & take care

Well you can always purchase a nice handheld model,and they work great and you can get all the mapping,and downloads too,i would not risk doing that to my expensive graph !!! no way...i use my handheld alot,and you can take it anywhere,you should consider all options before risking your good unit,goo-luck,the members will have lots of ideas too...

I heard that they are ice-fishing in some of the open all year lakes in the haliburton area for splake and rainbows,one report said that there was 4-5 inches of hard blue ice, !!!! so it wont be long now till they will be snowmobiling on it....as long as we dont get a week long warm spell the ice should be there to stay now,till spring....its been about 9 years since all the lakes froze this early they say !!!!...so the ice fishermen are just loving this weather big time....cheers

Well i wish that they would make up their minds...man on global news their prediction was for a warmer january & febuary !!!! with november & december being below normal temps...so far they are right about november it has been several degrees colder than normal,so maybe they will be right we will have wait & see !!!!...dam i havnt even put my boat away yet.....cheers

Sucker fishing in the early spring is great !!!! i used to do it when i was alot younger,and man you could catch tons of them day after day after nday for about 1 month....it kept us very busy after the trout are all done in the cre3eks.....you guys caught some real big ones for sure,great pics too,and looks like your gf,is loving it too,thanks for sharing....cheers
