Terry a new spud bar is about $25 bucks man !!!!! .....it did save my life once ....when i fell in,through the thin ice,i was in about 8ft of water my spud bar was on my wrist,with the little rope that comes with it...and i used the spud bar to push on the bottom of the lake to get me back on top of the ice....it was along walk back to the truck man !!!! i was frozen solid...anyway sorry for rambling on,like brian said a spud is essential for first ice !!!!! you should have asked santa for one terry ...LOL..LOL

IT seems that the reports are all so varied,terry !!!! ive heard guys say that there is lots ,and then guys saying that the ice is 3inches in place so it must depend on what area you are going to,,,its such a big lake i mean look at how the ice can vary,what we all need is pictures,of some ice thickness,as in a certain area it would give a preety good idea of how much there im wanting to go as well,this weekend but dont know about all the areas either?????

I had to work today lew from 7am till around 2pm...so it wasnt all that bad,i didnt do much,so now im off til jan 2nd...hopefully i can dig all my ice-fishin stuff out and hit the hard water,its just amoney thing,im really broke,bad so we will see,thanks for thinking of us that work on the holidays lew you a great guy !!!!!!merry xmas!!!!

Well its hard to say cause everyone of those rods that were mentioned are great !!!...i would like to have them all,and yes those crucial rods are great i had one in my hand the other day,and they are so sensitive!!!!

Man its really blowing out here in oshawa!!!!.. ..i went for a drive down to the lake,and there is huge waves crashing in big time,its so loud !!! so yes be careful if you are going out,might be a slick drive to work in the morning....i hope my car isnt going to be frozen !!! my lousy doorlocks

Well i know back trolling can work well in certain conditions but i just put a trolling plate on my motor,so i wouldnt have to do that,you can use your electric trolling motor as well,or you can toss out a drift bag and troll like that...so there is always options,before i would be back trolling for sure,and i have tried it before and didnt find that i had any advantage over any other way of trolling !!!

Yes they are sure everywhere,well right at the oshawa airport,its surrounded by the oshawa creek valley,nand heavy woods to the north,and the deer have been right on the runways for the planes, its been in the paper,and on the news several times about them,as well as the coyotes too,you can usually see them once every few weeks driving along tounton rd.. .we have also had a moose come down the creek valley almost to downtown oshawa ,he unded up staying on the golf course right near the hospital,so yes they do show up,and will adapt,they all know that where therte are people there is food....cheers everyone!!!!

Great site jim !!! thanks for bringing that up...i sold all my really old lure collection from my great,great greanfather,and my great uncle to andy,hes the guy who collectsall the old stuff and pays really well,he is always at the fishing shows,i cant think of his last name,i got almost 3 grand for all that tackle,and i know it was worth alot more but i needed the money,about 10yrs ago

Well my memories are great when i was young,i think around the age of ten,i got my electric train set for xmas !!!!! my god that was amazing,my dad had a ping-pong table which we converted into my train table,so over the next few years every birthday & xmas all i asked for was train,acessories,like buildings,more train cars,more scenery,like trees and all that,by the time i was about 16 it was the best train set ever,anyone that ever came to my house loved to see my setup,but that first xmas when i got the train set,it was like the best thing in the world....i still think of that from time to time,specially at this time of year !!!!!thanks lew fro bringing it up,i have some old photos of that train set if i can find them i will scan them and show them....merry christmas everyone
