  1. Yes ive been through many reels myself as well, and i learned something because of that, you only get what you pay for !!!!!...i still have a shimano stradic 2000 thats at least 18yrs old,i have had it repaired once, and it still works like a charm, not as brand new but theres sure alot of memories of big fish i caught using it too, lots of boat rash, and wear & tear, but hopefully it will still keep ticking for several more years..so now i buy better more expensive reels and its true, they are still made very well, and stand up better to years of punishment !!!! cheers well be happy now you can go get a real nice brand new shinny reel !!!!
  2. Those live target, koppers baits [crankbaits] are so real its unbelieiveable, ive never seen anything look that good, the thechnology is amazing,i cant wait to use them this spring, ill let the walleyes tell me what they think of them, they sure have been selling fast,i heard that soon they will be very hard to get and they might start selling them on e-bay for big bucks,if the americans get hold of them they will all be gone
  3. this has been a sore spot for several years now,and it seems that niether government wants to do anything about it,and lakes just keep getting lower & lower,i see it everytime i go out on lake ontario, that 2007 was the lowest ever in over 150 yrs of the levels being checked, its not good news at all....
  4. I would say its about a 50/50 split, from all the boats i see salmon fishing all summer, between saltys & scotty strikers, they are both very good at what they were designed for but i think the strykers distribute the weight more evenly, check out the members post with the picture it says it all !!!!! big holder for big heavy rods, they work great, thats why i have them cause of all the years my friends have had them and used tyhem with no problems, they are tought big time !!!

I love the ottawa river, its so loaded with fish, its the best spot in the world, everything is big in that river, and its still a very wild and untamed river, like it should be,thats why the fishing is so good,i have fished in 2 of those spots and caught a 25lb sturgeon right off those rocks...great pictures i wish i could be there alot more often !!!!

  23. Well you are going to be digging yourself out tommorow for a while mike !!!,its pretty crappy here to,but to the east and the ottawa valley are going to get up to 60cm's !!! by the time its all done,it seems like spring is never comming, man last year i got my boat from storage on march 17th !!!! well i dont think thats going to happen this yeari was fishing on the first weekend in april in my boat last year.....come on spring !!!! hey mike when its all done snowing down your way send us a few pics of all the aftermath....cheers bud
  24. Yes crotch lake has produced some very big pike for the size of the lake,my friend fishes there in the summer and i have seen some pike close to 20lbs, it would be my choice for sure, and catch & release keeps them getting bigger and bigger as he and his dad have fished there for over 40yrs,and when his dad first started there they never got a pike for over 10lbs or so !!!! so its proof that letting the big ones go pays off,so good luck in your choice as they are alll very good fish holding bueatifull shield lakes !!!!!....cheers
  25. Nice winter steel for sure !!!!. ..great pics too....cheers
