Im not sure about other species but i seen it on the news tonight,the local residents are now working with the M.N.R and were in the process of removing hundreds of carp from the lake today,they think its a repeat of last year,and they are now watching very closely to see if it spreads to other lakes...its not looking good,so we have to wait for the lab reports now,same as last year,it will take forever...i hope it doesnt spread to other species!!!!!!!

Ya it sucks allright,ITS JUST PLAIN WRONG !!!! if they want to live in the modern world and have all the modern things they should do it the way we do if not go back to living in the woods then net & spear all you want !!!! this is 2008 it should be one way or the other ....

This is the time when everyone should take a kid fishing,and as well spend some family time on the water,your kids will love it !!!!

Ill bet he did that on purpose,and probly didnt have it registered like you are sposed to do,he should have been banned from fishing for a few years as well too soft of a fine !!!! what an idiot

For one thing you should be well aware of the regs and all the rules if you are going to go fishing,cause if you try to say to the conservation officer,that "oh sorry sir i didnt know there was a slot size on walleye" he wont buy that and it will usually make the situation much worse,ignorance is no excuse,everyone should go out of their way to make sure they have a copy or at least print it out on-line,i have at least 3 coppies,one at home one in the car,and of course one in the boat !!!!! you said it right glen!!!!

Thats what being a dad is all about !!!!!. ..well done,and she outfished you too, thats a day to remember for sure,i will be fishing with my little girl in a few days she is 6yrs old and we are going on holidays and of course going walleye & bass fishing,so it will be fun & memories will be made...cheers,oh ya great musky too, she must be just thrilled too !!!!!

My fixed marine radio has that option as its new but i do not have a plotter,or radar,but i do have a distress button,and i have gps as well,so im not worried about having it signed up,as its too complicated,but its good for boaters who travel long distances on the great lakes,or even ocean travel,im only out salmon fishing and like the other member said i fish all over so its only good where its availiable,not in all the inland lakes areas up n orth..great safetyoption though !!!!

Well wherever there are locks between lakes fish can easily travel through !!!! so its really no suprise that it hasnt happened long before now,a very good family freind of ours has had a trailer at balsom lake park,for over 20 yrs and he has caught many small pike there going back along time,like at least over 10yrs. so they are prob going to spread as time goes on,and eventually find there way right through the system they are also making their way up from the bay of quinte as well,and there have been pike caught near campellford as well,and thats very close to rice lake so we better beware !!!!! the M.N.R should be doing some netting or at least some angler surveys and get an idea of how bad the problem really is,or maybe put something in the regulations to report all pike caught in the kawarthas !!!!!!
