For several years now i have really been giving plastics a good run for ice-fishing,and i am quite suprised as how well they have done,and i believe for some species that plastics,like gulp,in the buckets,and tubes & twister tails have done better than live minnows !!!! for me anyways,i should have used them long ago,so its good to feel confident that they will have a place for me to use in the winter for sure,and some biologists are already calling for the ban of live bait all together,even a few conservation officers say in some areas the writing is on the wall for the banning of live bait !!!! because of fears of VHS & spreading even more invaders...i hope they never do,but alot of people in the industry says its just a matter of time too,and they want a law making all plastics to be biodegadable too.....but yes i still love me shinners and red dace for walleye fishing through the ice....cheers

There is a boat launch on the upper ottawa river,where a little fellow mr.red.fox hangs out,and he will stay about 100ft or so away,and when you leave food,on the dock,and leave in your boat he will come right up and get it !!!the locals who live there take scraps of food to him as well,i have seen him a few times but not for several years???...does anyone know how long a typical red fox will live ?????...great video clips guys,they are really tame little guys too

If asian carp get through that electric barrier in chicago the great lakes fishery will be devestated,it will make all other invaders pale in comparison !!!! they are very worried about it,and everyone should read up on them and what they have done to hundreds of miles of rivers in the states,and they have even killed people,by hitting them in mid air,i sure hope he didnt see one,it should have been reported right away !!!! does he not know this !!! its very srious

Well everyone is welcome to hear all the details about the salmon pen project at port darlington,at bobby C's lounge & restauraunt/grill at 2:30pm sunday january 18th !!! port D has been lucky enough to pen rear chinook salmon,and the MNR,and biologists,and lots of people will be there,the purpose is to pen rear stocked salmon for imprinting,in pens,as they have lots of them on the go all over lake ontario,and from what i was told it will be all volenteer oriented,and there will be lots to learn,its said that if fish are to be imprinted for up to 8 weeks,their return rate is alot better,and the fish seem to come right back,its a bonus to the fisheries,and for all involved as the fishing will only get better,so hope to see some fellow OFC"ers there !!!! and there will be several fishing clubs present as well,so come on out and learn all about the clubs and of course the mighty chinook salmon !!! cheers shawn

Well lets just say that fishing is the reason i dont own my own house !!!!! thousands & thousands of dollars,like the saying goes: it really is a full blown addiction isnt it ????? my only regret will be when i die that my wife will sell all my fishing tackle for what i told her i payed for it !!!!!!

All i use is the scotty powerlock rod holders for salmon & walleye fishing,i have 4of them mounted in my boat andf 2 of them have the 8 inch extensions on them to even hold my planner rods higher of the boat,they are great,they are virtually indestructable,and can be easily installed,and the have several different models too,try their website www.scotty.com i use them for leadcore,wire dipseys,planner boards you name it,and if one ever does break they will send you another one...cheers

About 10 yrs ago i was ice fishing in quebec/ottawa river and it was -40 without the windchill,and my left eyelid froze shut,and i was having trouble breathing too, so thats pretty much too cold !!!! it was very scarry and i will not ever venture out in that crap ever again. ...after -20 or so you lines keep freezing,and your hole does the same,so i use that as a guide,any colder than that i just stay home. ..cheers
