  1. Receiving info about hacking threats to nfn. Oh well lets go fishing until it gets cleared up. Let the logs be the evidence and see you when we're back and good to go I guess
  2. That's exactly why I refuse to hunt it. They even threaten land owners who tell them to leave. Brian if your like me your really biting your lip because owning a firearm and saying what you really want to say can cause you to lose your equipment. For all you trespassing losers who are reading this right now. Know you are hated by every other hunter and landowner out there and you can bet that if you ever get caught we'll be holding hands with the anti's at your hearing. You disgust us and make us all look like idiots. Now look you got me in a tither Brian!
  3. I'm a tree guy myself. You can see so much more from that awesome tree behind you. The blind allows you move move a little bit more and keeps you out of the weather but the sunrise/set is just incredible from the tree. Another tip if hunting the edge of a field is use one of those broadhead target deer decoys. They fool the younger bucks even when not in rut but will get the big boys in to investigate during the rut even when your scent wears off. Funny thing about those scents. They real ones were made illegal because of a disease we don't have here in Ontario and the alternative may be toxic. Because "scent" is protected by proprietary disclosure rights they don't have to list what's in it to make it smell. I wonder if its any safer. Have a good hunt and think of your friend often in the field.
  4. They look fairly similar to a laketrout. Beautiful landscape for sure
  5. Is the boat even touching the water? Wow!
  6. The rutt is just beginning here in FE and the musky smell when you get close is really strong. Those are some beautiful looking carrots there . Do they make better or cheaper bait than apples?
  7. First off what's your channel name so I can subscribe. Mines wildniagara. The more subscriptions you have the more you turn up in the results and sooner or later google comes knocking and offers to pay you to put up those little ads. I posted that 407 cows video a couple weeks back and got enough views on Thanksgiving just from OFC that google came knocking and offered to ad that video to my adsense account. Thank you OFNers for clickin. I make more money off youtube then I ever did on niagarafishing.net. Secondly I hope you reported this to not only youtube but hopefully you can find out which adsense account it was making money for and have him banned from google. It is my understanding that google has no tolerance for rule breakers. BTW what was his username. We should all be able to add some channel comments so he might get the message and others viewing his videos can see comments warning them he is taking credit for others work. Dan
  8. The freakiest thing for me was the sound of the thunder. The lightning was erie enough but the thunder sounded like some kind of computer generated sound. I was on some meds at the time that were making me paranoid and this storm hit. They had generators salesmen selling out of the back of trucks down Garrison Rd. Mercman your encounter sounds the worst. It must have seemed like the end of civilization. Did the Noah's ark story cross your mind?
  9. Do you have that one storm like the blizzard of 77 that stands out in your mind and you'll always remember for all time? For me it was this one.
  10. I agree with the jimson. They are very large night bloomers and honey bees can often be seen spinning around in circles as they get stoned inside these flowers. The other plant looks like some sort of pragmite and may be an ornamental grass from someones garden. I have a facebook group called "What's That Plant North America" http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=103090426414325 . You can always post it there but I'm guessing your answer is at the closest garden center.
  11. My god it took me 3 looks to figure out why the arrow was so bloody long. I've done it once with a crossbow using 16" bolts but since have only cut the feathers off. Now can you get a deer broadside and in range?
  12. Yes I made that video and fishfarmer I think coffee might be part of the problem. I'm a small town guy so hitting the highway puts me out of my element. I'll do 3 hours in a tree stand over 5 minutes on the highway anyday.
  13. No but it is a tool used to hunt both turkey and deer. If you find out that your allowed to hunt turkey during deer shotgun season make sure you still wear the hunter orange.
  14. Sorry mercman for this unfortunate loss. We had a friend and neighbour die a few years back when his new bigger and better ATV tipped and he got pinned under it in a ditch and he drowned. There are however allot of landowners who are tempted to string wires because the signs don't do crap. There are the few riders that make all ATV'rs hated by their refusal to respect private property and the world is their playground. I've had to bury planks with 4-5 inches of spike sticking out (tire traps) and prey that no one gets thrown off and hurt. I've seen good trees dropped and some of these guys show up at night with a chain saw and winch. I only hate jet skiers more but signs fences and logs just won't stop some people. To the orriginal poster; don't let it get to you. Accept that this is part of hunting and there's millions of people around you. There's always going to be a bunch that live just to make your blood boil (don't look up ). Hopefully they don't spoil it for all of us who want land use permission.
  15. I occasionally go from Fort Erie to Brampton for dinner. I'm one of those drivers that likes to set the cruise control and only speed up to pass. On the way to the 407 I feel like running cars off the highway but things smooth out on the 407. Then its back to chaos on the 410. I don't mind stopping for cows, they never had to pass a drivers test but some of these people must have bought their licenses.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/user/wildniagara?feature=mhum#p/u/20/dBH9epQh6zc Going through some of my you tube videos and found this one. I sure hope they're not there tomorrow. I'll bring some cookies just in case though
  17. Bet they're still nice and tight I had no idea of their timing either. Thanks for sharing. I found a red eared slider crossing my neighbours driveway in spring. Kept it in the rabbits cage all summer and tried to find it a home with no luck. I did not want to let it go because they are out competing our native turtles but I somehow think the snappers will have no problem with them. Snappers can be very aggressive. Hard to believe SARA has them listed. http://www.youtube.com/user/wildniagara?feature=mhum#p/u/5/135S-xWEqHk
  18. There's always at least one attention distraction during every election. This bylaw needs to be tested quick but you have to ask; what exactly are they trying to draw attention away from?
  19. A good read that explains it better than I can. http://www.examiner.com/x-32060-Toronto-Holistic-Health-Examiner~y2010m5d7-Lyme-disease-in-Toronto--The-Ticks-are-back Also from Melisa Young; the woman who inspired me to wrie my paper about lime: Did I mention I was holding a fundraiser in Niagara for Doc Feelgood on May 29th? We'll be at the Lazy Lizzard restaurant in St Catharines at 7 pm just off the Ontario St offramp. We have 20 on the guest list so far with a $20 headcharge that covers all you can eat pizza and wings. $12 goes to the restaurant and $8 goes to the Doc so he can get a decent test done and prescriptions and travel expense to Hamilton and back. If the Doc finds out he does not need the money we will donate it to the Lyme Disease Association of Ontario for an awareness campaign. I don't want to spam but the sign up is on NFN. If you want in let me know ASAP even by PM here so I can give the Lizzard an approximate head count. Donations of raffle prizes are appreciated as is the tradition with our get togethers for fundraising.

    OFN

Sorry bud but I must disagree. OFC does none of the things you suggest. OFC only facilitates these things by providing a venue. Your disdain for the website should be directed at it's users who are comprised of a wide crosscut of today's society. Your prescription for OFC is really what you desire to change in society in general. Have you tipped the balance with your contribution here on this visit or have you simply contributed to the culture you are repulsed by? There my friend is irony. May I suggest a solution for your dissatisfaction for the worlds population and their behavior? Either have your doctor fine tune your happy pills, blend in or never walk away from your computer without logging off or your jealous wife might pose as you and make you look
  21. Some of the reasons for misdiagnoses other than it mimics other diseases: There have been no reported cases in your area That's because you have to travel to Toronto to get a positive test or see a specialist. Even though Melisa contracted Lyme while hunting in her home town of Fort Erie, her case was registered as a Toronto case. You didn't have the bullseye rash Stats show less than half of people with Lyme ever had a bullseye rash. There are no deer ticks in your area There have not been any extensive studies carried out in most areas; only those which they already knew deer tick populations were high. The list goes on. The medical industry is not only in denial but they are corrupt. The movie shows how the majority of a panel of doctors who decide how to screen for Lyme and treat it have a conflict of interest as they hold patents on Lyme research, testing procedures and medication. To change the way we test for and treat Lyme would cost them their investment! Doctors who actually try to help and order tests that work and use medications that work are having their licences revoked for operating outside of prescribed guidelines. In order to have your licence reviewed and revoked there has to be a complaint. Problem is that family physicians and patients are not complaining; insurance companies are. The Doctors who make up the Lyme panel have a monopoly and it's cheaper for insurance companies to uphold that monopoly then to cure or even admit you have Lyme. There were two articles printed about it today in Niagara newspapers. Both received information from the public health department and both said the sickness starts with a bullseye rash and it can only be obtained from deer ticks. There needs to be a change in the way we receive our reporting. Remember DDT's? Remember how it killed off so many birds and bugs and see how certain things are returning with a vengeance since DDT's started wearing off? Cormorants, bedbugs and birds of prey are all on a huge upswing. I think we're going to see ticks at the top of the come back list but without the help and open minds of the medical industry and health department we will be unable to find sufficient treatment. Get informed!
  22. It is also known that less than 50% of adults present a rash and less than 10% in children. Deer ticks are not the only thing that can transfer the bacterium and there is a question as to whether it can be sexually transmitted. Mothers have passed it on to their fetuses. It has also recently been discovered the Borrelia bacteria can hide within your cells. It is one of the most complex organisms and reacts differently in each person depending on their immune systems. It also can create a bio film and hide within it. It does not like oxygen rich blood and will leave the bloodstream in favour of your brain, skin or other hiding places not detected in standard blood tests. Misdiagnosis is no surprise after watching this documentary. If you live in the Niagara Pen you can catch a free screening at the Ridgeway Theater on December 24th at 7pm. There will be a guest speaker from http://www.canlyme.com for Q&A. Putting on these free screenings is Melisa Young of Fort Erie who was misdiagnosed for years. Her blog can be found at http://lymetickingtimebomb.blogspot.com/ Hey if we can help one person who thinks they have MS or many other diseases it mimics find relief with this information, then this website is doing it's job. Spread the word and have another good look at Lyme.
