What's Up With Embellished Bass Weights?
crappieperchhunter replied to Rich's topic in General Discussion
What Beansie said. And when it's just under "my size" I usually tell the little bugger that it is it's lucky day as I release it -
Caught my share on the upper Bruce. All in the Willow creek area. My favourite was one I saw while heading into Tobermory with my wife, my sister, my mom and my sister in law in the car. It was sunning itself on the side of Dorcas Bay Rd. I pulled over and scared it off the road with a stick so it would not get run over. Then I pinned it down and picked it up and walked back towards the car full of women asking them if they wanted a closer look. I heard some pretty colorful language that day

Whats the coolest fishing gadget you own??

Electric Fillet Knive....nuff said -
Is it corporate greed.... expanding legacy costs.... or a combination of both? I couldn't support either side unless I knew all the facts. Legacy costs will be the ruin of many pension plans in the next 20 years. We lost our pension last March...but us "old timers" have our time accumulated pensions grandfathered.

Do you leave gear in the car?
crappieperchhunter replied to jedimaster's topic in General Discussion
I voted no. However I do pack the car the night before if I'm getting up real early to head out fishing...but I didn't feel that really counted as leaving it in the car. -
There is a town owned trailer park right at the beach in Bobcaygeon with sites available. It has a good boat launch. It is a quiet park...I know because our cottage is right across the road. You can fish Sturgeon from your park or trailer less then a mile to a free launch at the north end of Pidgeon and fish it. Many many lakes are just a short tow away. Being right in town may not appeal to some but we really like it. You can literally walk to the beer or liquor store or even get last minute groceries...as well as quick trips to Homehardware if something needs fixing. The ladies like exploring the shops on the main street as well. If we had went the trailer route I would have been in there in a heartbeat. Sorry I don't have any info on the park but I'm sure a quick goggle search would turn something up for you or maybe someone on here will chime in. Good luck with your hunting and I hope you enjoy your new get away

Keeping Plastics on Jig Heads Longer
crappieperchhunter replied to Matt Janes's topic in General Discussion
I don't like the gulp baits because they are too soft. But I use finesse plastics from lunker city. They make there own jigheads for there plastics too. The collar of the jighead is threaded like a screw and the fish never ever pull them off. I end up tearing a badly chewed up body off and replacing it with a new body before the fish tears it off. -

Happy to hear that Cliff My heart sank a little bit when I checked the website. -

crappieperchhunter replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Cliff you mentioned it has a 1500LB towing capacity. I just checked the specs on the Toyota website. The basic Matrix is NOT rated for towing at all. But the XRS and the AWD are rated for 1500 as you mentioned. You might wanna look into it further in case you have warranty issues down the road. -
Dinks. A term you don't wanna hear. Slabs. A term you Do wanna hear. "We slaughtered em" The very best beginning when your telling someone of a recent fishing trip.

Good luck with whatever you go with Cliff. Debbe and I got a 2013 Hyundia Sante Fe in March. I know that is not one of your choices, however I thought I would mention that this is our 3rd Hyundia vehicle and Ontario Hyundia who we deal with hear in Oshawa...well the dealership is in Whitby... has treated us very well...I can't say enough about them. Also our other 2 Hyundia's which where both Accents where bullet proof and cost next to nothing to maintain...Debbe is driving the 2006 right now. Although it is only fair to mention the Accents where Debbe's daily driver...12 KM a day to and from work so they never had any tough sledding to do. But some say just puttering around town is harder on a car then getting it out on the hiway. Just thought I would mention how happy we have been with Hyundia Cliff. Again good luck with your car hunting. -
Your not alone Rich. Bluegills are pretty much the only fish I keep for the table from the Kawarthas in the summer although I have never had them flaked. My old bosses wife used to can fish. I gave her a bunch of suckers one spring and got a few mason jars of the finished product. Just as good as any can of tuna or salmon I have ever had from the store.

Get yourself a good PR man spinnerdoc. I'm sure there's a reality TV show in the future if you play your cards right

favourite styl of fishing????

Fishing for anything using a float. A buddy who got me into fishing for chrome always said the best part is watching the float go down. All these years later and I still agree.- 61 replies

I understand all that Bill. I actually found the receipt later. It had fallen behind my dresser. The auger was mint...I had only cut 3 holes with it and I had the box it came in with BPS Vaughn's address on it. I understand they where under no obligation to help me out. I also understand that I treated the salesman with respect and he would NOT do ANYTHING to help me out. There was lots of opportunity for them to be helpful and retain/obtain a customer and they did NOT. There loss not mine.

I bought an 8 inch lazer ice auger from BPS in the fall of 2010. I have a 5 inch lazer than I LOVE and have had zero issues with...anyway I literally cut 3 holes with it in Feb 2011 and found it to be just plain more work then I wanted to do. I drove from Oshawa to BPS in the spring of 2011 and tried to get a refund on this auger which I admit I had lost the receipt for...but I had the box with the BPS address on IT that the auger came in!!! Anyway long story short. I will never EVER spent another dime in that store again. Glad you had a good experience Brian....but they will never get another cent of my hard earned money.

Might as well Lew. Pretty much everyone I work with has jumped on. I'm happy for the real hardcore true blue leaf fans but the band wagon jumpers just really annoy me.

Good job Cliff. Glad to see your enjoying this nice weather and getting some fishing in.

Will This Rabbit Live? Should I call Animal Control? NF
crappieperchhunter replied to Joey's topic in General Discussion
Thx for sharing this Joey. I hope the little bugger makes out OK. Years ago in the spring by accident I ran over a toad while tilling my vegetable garden. Took one of his back legs clean off. I felt terrible when I discovered him. But I let him be because he seemed to be doing fine. For anyone who doesn't know...Toads are very territorial. That 3 legged toad was in my garden for 2 summers!!!! I guess I had enough food and shelter out there for him so he hung around. I sure missed him the third summer when he never turned up again. Hopefully your bunny hangs in there so you can enjoy his company as well. -
