  1. I bought an 8 inch lazer ice auger from BPS in the fall of 2010. I have a 5 inch lazer than I LOVE and have had zero issues with...anyway I literally cut 3 holes with it in Feb 2011 and found it to be just plain more work then I wanted to do. I drove from Oshawa to BPS in the spring of 2011 and tried to get a refund on this auger which I admit I had lost the receipt for...but I had the box with the BPS address on IT that the auger came in!!! Anyway long story short. I will never EVER spent another dime in that store again. Glad you had a good experience Brian....but they will never get another cent of my hard earned money.
  2. Might as well Lew. Pretty much everyone I work with has jumped on. I'm happy for the real hardcore true blue leaf fans but the band wagon jumpers just really annoy me.
  3. Good job Cliff. Glad to see your enjoying this nice weather and getting some fishing in.
  4. Thx for sharing this Joey. I hope the little bugger makes out OK. Years ago in the spring by accident I ran over a toad while tilling my vegetable garden. Took one of his back legs clean off. I felt terrible when I discovered him. But I let him be because he seemed to be doing fine. For anyone who doesn't know...Toads are very territorial. That 3 legged toad was in my garden for 2 summers!!!! I guess I had enough food and shelter out there for him so he hung around. I sure missed him the third summer when he never turned up again. Hopefully your bunny hangs in there so you can enjoy his company as well.
  5. I remember that...lol. Wish we would have had a camera that day!!!
  6. Sorry for your luck Beansie. However it leaves me filled with hope that they will be on good when Debbe and I are up there from May 3rd to 12th
  7. That's exactly what I look like after every Thanksgiving meal Joey
  8. If the strike lasts over a year I might start to worry.
  9. 5 cases of red and 5 cases of white in the basement. I'm pretty sure we can weather it.
  10. Nice feed there Bruce. Funny though I've never seen a perch with whiskers before
  11. You lads not have a Costco up there Brian? Way cheaper for propane and besides that a good number of culinary things in the store cheaper too.
  12. I'm sure your right Rich. I have only had largies from shallow waters in the heat of summer. I have however had smallies in May from "up north" where there is no closed season and they where awesome.
  13. My neighbor at the cottage can make ANYTHING taste good in his smoker. If I get one up to him I will give an honest report. I have tried bowfin just cooked and it was terrible....kinda tasted like largemouth bass...but worse.
  14. Going back to school...good for you Simon. My old neighbor always said " The great thing about knowledge is that it's not very heavy to carry around" I always liked that saying.
  15. The only thing I understood about what you are saying here Simon is the 27 inch screen A computer geek I am not.
  16. Totally random here Dave...but do you have a Yorkie as well
  17. Good luck switching over to a Mac Simon. Love mine.
  18. I sight fish them in about a month's time on Simcoe up near Orillia. A chunk of worm on a jig head. Walk along the bank and they are right there in 2 feet of water. Drop the jig head right in front of there faces and they grab it every time. My son used to love going after Bowfins with me. Then we would spend the rest of the time catching bullheads under a float.
  19. I'm already doing my part. I haven't had a walleye out of the Kawartha's for at least 5 years...maybe longer. Bluegills crappie and perch only. Not because I can't catch eyes but because I actually enjoy eating those 3 species more.
  20. Awesome Bruce. I ended up working today I'm hoping for some open water perching next weekend...but the amount of ice out there might make me wait even longer then that.
  21. Good point about the Cormorants Cliff. I don't know there impact either but they sure are ruining a few islands on Sturgeon.
  22. LOL. I never checked the date of the posts Terry.
  23. Remind me and I will do a drive by for you after perching next weekend.
  24. Be careful what you wish for Cliff.
  25. I agree with you 100% Shayne. To me overharvest is a none issue for the Kawartha Walleyes. We caught tons of them for years and years. BUT...just a few short years after crappie started showing up...the walleye numbers take a real big nose dive. I'm not a biologist but it seems pretty obvious to me. Also the Trent Severn has really dropped the ball on maintaining proper water levels for the eggs after the spawn. I am told that they have lost more then a few year classes because of this. We have a cottage up in Bobcaygeon. I am truly amazed every single year just how few people I actually see the ENTIRE season targeting eyes on Pidgeon or Sturgeon. Most weekends when I am out there I have all kinds of good water ALL to myself. And like I said this is on weekends. If I'm up there for a weeks holidays there is virtually no fishermen on the water through the week.
