  1. If you are in Barrie or are making the trip, take the extra time and go to Trombleys in Orillia. They have some lures there I hadn't seen anywhere else in about 15 years. Out of the big box stores I find myself going to Sail more and more. Sometimes BPS is good too.
  2. Truth be told, with snowboard bindings I absolutely love ratchet straps but with everyone saying how they are no good with snowshoes the Tubbs tie downs looked like the way to go. Ha! My massive boots barely fit in the bindings. Barely, but they fit.
  3. Great day with awesome people. Lots of fish were iced, good conversation the entire day. The slush suuuucked (I'm exhausted today) but no permanent injuries or broken machinery so it makes a good story.
  4. I'll always do Fish-a-thon and if it works out I may do the orangeville one this year. I can't really see doing any others.
  5. I feel as though there are a few companies that should be giving OFC advertising dollars. After reading this thread and the Rapala one I went out to sail today and bought a pair of Tubbs and a crayfish coloured scatter rap. With their sale discounts it was $120 all in. I'm happy with that.
  6. Is there any better feeling then finishing filleting the fish and seeing how many amazing meals you will be able to make?

Usually I finish and realize how few amazing meals I'll be able to make...

Don't worry. One of these day's I'll show you how to properly fillet a fish. :P

  7. Geez, remind me to never enter tournaments. All of that sounds like the complete opposite of why I like fishing.
  8. Actually, truth be told, the kayak in my profile pic is my dream. I saw it one year at the sportsman show and swore she would be mine. She has been perfect and everything I could ask for. I'll always want to pump another $1000 worth of upgrades into her and I've almost sank her twice, but if that isn't true love, I don't know what is.
  9. Oh, I forgot this one too. First fish on opener (or after the season opens) gets to go back. They have to tell all the other fish how nice I am.
  10. If it's a bad day before drilling my first hole ice fishing, it's going to be a bad day ice fishing. I had an 'unlucky hat' a Toronto st pats hat. Bad luck always happened when I wore it.
  11. I don't know what pikeslayer is talking about. Truth be told, this trip is a blast. I went last year and talked about it long after it was over. I have a few people in mind I really want to bring out for this.
  12. That's what I meant though. I rarely bring music but I jig to the beat of the song in my head.
  13. Oh oh I almost forgot, the less gear you bring, the bigger this fish. When I was about 12 I caught my PB Walleye. A beautiful 26 incher on my first cast. We had no net, pliars or camera and had to imediatly drive back to the dock to release it.
  14. The fishing hook hat pin. Whenever I wear that I clean up. My joke is all I would need is that and a shoestring and I could survive on an island for years. It'll sound corny but my girlfriend is good luck too. I do well when she comes out, of course she always does better.
  15. This is true! With how well we fared after this song this should be my 'fire me up' music. This Saturday we need this song to be on repeat for the full 3 hour drive.
  16. No sense being shy, we have all done it, especially us ice fishermen. What song do you think or sing or hum when you are retrieving your lure? For me, the song 'shake and pop' tells me exactly what to do. And finicky fish seem to love the movement.
  17. The 18 foot electrofishing boat that Toronto Conservation uses. I'll never be skunked again. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
  18. Very nice. I wish I could have gotten out there for opener. I heard Chris K saying 'the spot' has been closed down due to police. If I PM could you elaborate?
  19. I apologize to whoever said it before because I can't find the quote but someone before mentioned that the leafs rebuilds were a joke and I have to agree. The management would say 'we are doing a rebuild' and trade prospects and draft picks over and over again. The leafs have been in need of a true rebuild since the 05 lockout but have kept paddling the sinking ship further and further out to sea. I don't care about waiting for a rebuild. I've been waiting for 10 years.
