  1. Mornin! I'm outta here in like 5 mins..... Sinker
  2. The only thing I don't like about my powerdrive is how it deploys.....sometimes its a queen to get out of the bracket.......but it slides real nice once its unlocked. I can run it all day no prob on one battery too.......on a 16ft deep and wide. Wind doesn't matter much....unless its say over 40k.....then it just sucks anyway you look at it for fishing. My pd is mounted on a deck smaller than yours, so you'll be fine I think. It hangs off about 4", just so the shaft clears the hull. Sinker
  3. Just because of that, I am being optimistic, and calling it a carp only virus. If it spread that fast, killing all those fish.....there would be other species floating in the bog by now.......one would think anyways......? I've seen nothing but carp on the scugog river and sturgeon lake so far.....but it is moving up the chain quickly. Sinker
  4. About $1.30 on sturgeon, and supposedly our marina is the chapest on the lake right now! Bring gas for sure!! Sinker
  5. I ate a bunch of perch and walleyes from sturgeon last week.....so far so good! Sinker
  6. Atta boy!
  7. I'd launch at Bonnie boats in Jackson's point. Head out to the pack of boats and find fish on the graph. My go to is a black back, green belly badboy type jig with a green tube to match. I find a 2" tube to work the best, but it prolly doesn't matter. If that fails, go for the williams half and half....either hammered or shiny with the side hooks. Bounce it off the bottom every drop of the lure. I haven't been out since the may long weekend, but I'd assume anywhere from 70-80 FOW would produce now. You'll see the pack of boats out there more than likely. Good luck! Sinker
  8. Sincerest condolences Cliff. I'm sure Herbs last fishing trip will be a good one. I'll dedicate one to him this weekend for sure. Sinker
  9. That's a nice bonus!! Beautiful fish! When we get a good north wind, it blows the warm water out, and brings the cold water in.....that could be why the browns were in closer to shore. I've caught them all summer long where I think your fishing........try a silver and blue cleo sometime, you might be surprised at what you can catch there. I haven't fished down there for years, but I've had some good luck, and been the only one there many times. Maybe I should try it down there again....... Sinker
  10. I don't really care what kind of fish are dead.....dead fish is not a good thing any way you slice it. I don't fish carp at all, but I'm sure its fun. I have caught a few, but never actually targetted them. If I lived in the city, and that's what I had access to, I'd be a carp addict as well....there's no doubt in my mind!! I just have to fish.....species doesn't matter!! I think the rotenone kills all fish....anything with gills. If that was put in scugog, we'd be seeing all kinds of dead fish. Maybe the MNR was just doing some elecro fishing to get a count on fish? Who knows.......certainly not me.....but it stinks (no pun intended)....and I hope it will just be a virus that will pass in due time, and leave us some good tough carp for you carp guys.... Sinker
  11. I was nailing them on that same jig that solo posted when the mayflies were hatching around here. Its a berkley power bait, 3" grub. Pumkin body with an orange tail. I always have one of them rigged and ready to go. Sinker
  12. I'll feel alot better once we have some proof of what is happening as well. I'm wondering now If I should take my boat up north this weekend......I'm taking it out tomorrow from sturgeon......and I'm gonna power wash it with hot water and soap.....then let it dry until saturday when I hit the water at the cottage......I'm not sure its a good idea though....I might just stick with the canoe this weekend This really sucks..........what happens if other species start dying off in another few weeks........if its in the kawartha's, its gonna be everywhere in no time! Sinker
  13. I started seeing the floaters in the south end of Sturg on friday evening. I'm sure pigeon and cameron will be next.... Sinker
  14. That's not good at all!! Thanks for the link.... Sinker
  15. Saw lots of dead ones on sturgeon ove the weekend. I had a feeling it would only be a matter of time. My dad also saw a couple half dead muskies in our marina.....not good at all. I've heard that it affects the brain of large fish.....but this is just hearsay, so take it for what its worth. I'm sure it will be already too late to do anything, by the time the MNR has figured out what it is..... Sinker
  16. Good stuff! Any pics of your targets? I took my 5 y/o son out on saturday for his first shots ever. He had a couple shots out of the .410 at the trap range, and a bunch of shots out of the .22. He LOVED it!! I think I'll be looking into a .410 just for him now.... Sinker
  17. Nice goin Jeff! I was up on friday and battled the 4 footers for a few hours. Ended up with one nice eye on a musky troll, and 2 dinks jigging. It was tough fishing, too windy. We'll have to hook up out there yet.... Sinker
  18. Nice to see a second brood!! Things are looking up for the fall.... Sinker
  19. ??? If its a manual start, why do you have a cranking battery?
  20. IMO, Unless your fishing really deep water, or on a REALLY windy day, you wont need all that for an anchor. All you need is a navy style anchor about 15-20lbs on a good braided nylon rope. That would be a great set up for fishing whities and lakers on simcoe, in water over 50', I use the same thing. But when I'm fishing reasonably shallow water, say 50' or less, I have a 15lb navy anchor on 75 ft of rope that holds my 16 ft just fine. All that chain and rope is a pain in the butt, and makes a ton of noise putting it in and out. Not to mention, the scratches you'll put on your new boat with that chain. Just a heads up...... Sinker
  21. 12V 2A setting. If its really dead, charge it part way on 10A, then switch to 2A for the remainder. Assuming its a 12V battery of course..... Sinker
  22. That's crazy......I used to rent boats all the time at rice lake. $40 for the whole day!!! This is within the last 5 or so years..... The rental guys are soaking you guys, I feel sorry for you! Just think, if you rent a boat once a month.....that's a payment on a brand new tinny you can call your own!!! The rental guys are just laughing as you pull away from the docks..... Sinker
  23. Put it on the charger and see what it says....
  24. Could be as simple as your fuel line from the tank. Certainly sounds like lack of fuel....
  25. I'd just use the vanish as a leader Cliff. I don't think you'll be happy with it as a main line. I find its not great for casting at all. It frays very easy if your casting. For vertical fishing its not bad, like icefishing, but otherwise, IMO, its junk. I like the P-line fluoro myself, it seems to perform much better than the vanish in all scenarios. Sinker
