  1. When your arms feel like lead, and you've not caught one......keep casting You'll get one, you just have to stick with it!!
  2. Hey, don't feel bad.........I had my trusty old 12 foot deep and wide stolen from my yard, while we were at home a few weeks ago!!! Now I've got the place locked up like alcatraz..........ya can't trust anyone these days....its sick........and I'm out in the country!!! Most bad things turn good though....so don't worry....you'll find a better boat at a better price sooner or later! Sinker
  3. I had one like that before....good for marking depth and that's about it. If you want to mark fish....you need more power and more pixels=lowrance... Sinker
  4. Too bad your so far away....my trailer is sitting right here with nothing on it...
  5. Did you see any videos of snake heads jumping out of the water and injuring people.....have you seen the videos of these carp?? If you think this is just a scare.....your in for a big surprise!! The reality of it is that its already too late.....they'll get here sooner or later......
  6. I suppose your right in saying there's not much WE (me and you personally) can do......but if we all work together there has to be a way to help. I'd gladly warm the barrel of my shotgun ridding the ecosystem of a few I know I'll be out there with the bow killing them as often as I can if/when they get here..... Like I said above.....the barrier in Chicago isn't gonna stop them.....it may slow them down, but I watched a video of the carp going right thru it without as much as a flinch. One of my profs at school was working on the barriers there, he made the video I watched, and he told me the only way to stop them is to kill them all.......how we gonna do that? Its gonna be a problem sooner or later.......It will only be a matter of time! I see plenty of reasons to panick! Sinker
  7. When does the new boat arrive? I can't believe for a second that you sold your boat......and don't have another one on the way?? And on your vacation to boot.....are you OK.... If your interested in getting out on sturgeon for an evening during the week while your boatless, just shoot me a message and we can work something out. Sinker
  8. Photoz, I don't think anyone is panicking. This is a serious issue......NO? Have you seen the videos of these fish??? Have you read about how fast they reproduce......do you realize that the great lakes will sustain a HUGE number of these things??? Its no joke.....they're on thier way!! I've seen the electric barriers, and I've seen the carp swim right thru them without as much as a flinch......sooner or later....they will be here......better to panick now than once the lake is over run with carp.....no? It would be nice to stop a problem before it gets here for a change, rather than deal with it when it comes don't you think??? I'm amazed that you take this so lightly.....seeing that you are a shore fisherman on the GREAT LAKES? I know you like your carp fishing, but come on.....we have to start doing things now, if we're gonna stop these things.....or would you rather wait until we're infested like they are down south....then start cryin the blues? Sorry for the rant, but this stuff really kills me..... Sinker
  9. Theres a thought!!! Hope its not already too late..... SInker
  10. Sturgeon lake is all clear. I haven't seen any since the canada day weekend.
  11. Haven't seen any more dead ones on sturgeon for the last 2 weeks. Noticed a few lively ones in the marina close to big cliffs place on friday night. I've never tried catching them though...... sinker
  12. That is a perfect boat. Very similar to mine. Easy to launch alone, easy to handle alone, and it handles big water very well. I get 32MPH on GPS with a full floor, 2 batteries and a full tank of fuel, trolling motor and 2 big guys.....mine is a 40 mariner......on a 16.5 starcraft. I'm sure you'll be more than happy with it. I love mine for its versitality!! Sinker
  13. Those look like black ducks to me.....still pretty friendly birds. They're usually pretty wild. Keep in mind once duck season opens, you can only kill one per day..... Nice lookin platform too......good job! Sinker
  14. I put an X-97 on my boat this spring.....so far so good. I like it alot better than the X-87 that was on there before. Its a great unit for the price. Sinker
  15. I was out last weekend for whities/lakers. We caught 6 whities, and 2 lakers. 80 FOW, between snake and fox island shoals. They are down there, just keep jigging. We caught them on either the #60 williams half and half, or a green/black badboy with a green 2"tube. Watch your graph closely.....zoom right in if you can......if you mark them, usually you catch them. Look for the boats fishing out there......you'll see them. Sinker
  16. Take #35 North.........past #7 into town........go thru all the lights......over the river/ lock........you'll see Riviera park on the left. Hang a left at the boat launch sign. Hard to miss......its right on the river. Sinker
  17. Above the dam in kinmount is pretty good for muskies......not big ones, but lots of scrappers..... SInker
  18. Keep trying....you'll get it.....you only have to tie it once....
  19. Take the end of the braid and dab it about a 3" length from the tip with super glue. As it begins to dry, I wet my fingers and pinch and twist the line a few times where I applied the glue until it begins to stiffen. Then try and slide it in the leadcore with the willis knot. That willis knot is much stronger than it looks.....it looks like it would just pull out!! Sinker
  20. Normal plywood is fine......just seal up the edges, or paint it, then carpet. It will last a long time before you have to replace it......but, you'll have to replace it sooner or later. Sinker
  21. Before you paint, wash the boat with soap and water at a car wash. Then give it a light sand (220 grit). If there is already paint on it, and its not flaking off, just give it a light sand to make a surface for the new paint to stick to. After sanding, wipe the area to be painted with a rag soaked in acetone, I've heard vinegar works as well but never tried it myself. If its bare aluminum, you'll need a self etching primer before you paint, or the paint won't stick well, and will just flake off in time. BTW....my boat has a pressure treated floor in it, and has been in it for 5 seasons now.....I don't believe all this hype about PT lumber reacting with aluminum. My boat has held up just fine, and I've been keeping a close eye on it since this "hype" started. Maybe the additives in newer PT lumber are different now, but mine is great and hasn't had any effect on the aluminum. Sinker
  22. Whatever you do, don't launch at Bonnie boats...... I launched there on saturday and it was indeed $40. I was under the assumption that it was only $10 to launch, as it always has been, as long as you park in their lot. I had a $30 parking ticket when I got back to the docks. I heard thru the grapevine that sibbalds is $16 to launch and park......I'll try there next time. I'll never go there again......what a rip off!!! The town of Georgina can kiss my white hairy _____!!!! Sinker
  23. That is for sure an atlantic, as already said, the spots on the gill plate (3) are a dead giveaway. OFAH and local angling clubs have been stocking them up there for a while now. Sinker
  24. Ha.....and my buddies say I'm too anal about my trailer.....I always check everything before I hit the road.....I haven't found anything to fix yet, but I'm sure I will one day. Sinker
