  1. I don't think all those lakes are having an algae bloom in the same week. I was on the kawartha's yesterday, and the surface was COVERED in pollen. I still think its pollen. Light winds all week will build it up and not mix it into the water.....it just floats on the surface. Sinker
  2. I'd say it is indeed pollen on the water. Light winds this week, so its all over the lakes. Sinker
  3. If you do put it in the boat.....make sure there is something under it....I had a 5 horse put a nice hole in a little tin boat one time......must have hit a bump and punctured it with the gear shifter. Should be fine on the transom tho... Sinker
  4. At least you guys went out......I pulled up to the marina and said...."forget it" and went for a hot breaky. Sounds like I didn't miss much at least. Sinker
  5. I need more tools..... You do some nice work, that's for sure. That should serve you well, only time will tell. Sinker
  6. JB, your quick charge setting is for starting batteries only. Don't use that setting on a deep cycle battery. Do you have a switch on the charger for deep cycle/starting batteries? Make sure its on deep cycle setting. I had a moto master charger, and it also fried on me. It had the boost setting too for starting your car. It was ok, as long as it was on the deep cycle setting and set at 2A charge. I fried it boosting a lawn tractor.....it caught on fire....LOL... Sinker
  7. Try and find a charger with an automatic function. It will know how much power is left in the battery, and charge the battery according to that. If its really low, it will start with a 10A charge, then once its over half way, go to the 2A charge. Generally, slower charge is better with a true deep cycle battery. I have a nautilus, with the auto function. It will adjust as it charges the battery, and shut off once its fully charged. If I leave it connected to the charger and the battery loses some juice, it will start back up and trickle charge to a full charge again. Never had a problem with my batteries, and they're going on season 6 now.......and just the same as new. I always like to charge mine on 2A, as long as time permits. I think its better for a longer battery life, but my charger, on auto, starts on 10A if the battery is low, then changes to 2A after its about 3/4 charged. It has a manual setting as well, so I can charge it on 2A if I want, and I have the time. Mine is charged fully overnight....not really sure how long it takes, but its good to go in the morning from dead...... Sinker
  8. find a swampy creek with slow moving water, set a fish carcass in there on a rope. Put it in at night, and check it after a few hours.....if there's leeches, it will be full of them. I don't have great success with the leeches I catch tho.....they're usually the red bellied ones, and they latch on to you much better than the ones you buy in the bait stores......I don't think the ones in the bait shops are blood suckers.... Sinker
  9. slimey and hard to hold sounds like a whitey to me.....sure looks like one in the picture. Nice fish regardless of what it is.....
  10. That sucker looks like a whitefish....no? Nice area up there....pickeral river I assume? Sinker
  11. No difference.......left to right...side to side...same thing. Didn't mean to confuse you further....LOL. Sinker
  12. Yup, what Northhunter said. They'll just jump out....or the mother will push them out. They'll be fine. Pretty neat for a mallard tho..... Sinker
  13. Nice pad for sure!! All I can say about the deck is go big........you won't regret it!! If you need some help/suggestions with the deck, shoot me a pm....I build lots of them. Sinker
  14. Cable drive......you tilt the foot pedal front to back with your foot to turn the motor left to right. Cables pull the motor and turn it side to side. The foot pedal has shorter cables on it. Power drive.....is an electric motor......which turns the bowmount left or right. They make noise when you turn, but are silent when just the prop is turning. The foot pedals seem to wear out or short with the added board for the steering in there......cable drives don't have that in the foot pedal....... The part that sold me was I can sit in the back of the boat and control the bowmount for trolling slow..... The power drive uses power from the battery to turn your bowmount.......draining your battery/ies faster than cable drive. They're all good I guess......its more personal preference. If I was gonna get another one it would be cable drive.......prolly just because that's what i'm used to......this power drive is new to me this season. I will say I am not fussy about the way the power drives go in and out of the water either......much easier/better with the cable drive where you just pull the rope and up it comes.....mine can be a pain in the butt to get out of the bracket, then slide into the water.... Hope that explains it better...... Sinker
  15. With the cable steer your not using a motor to turn the bowmount. This drains the battery a little quicker, and makes noise. Cable drive, your leg muscles do the turning, and no noise. I have a 55lb power drive, no probs yet, but I can say I would rather have the cable drive, just for battery life. The only thing I like with the power drive is the long cable on the foot pedal. Its nice to sit in the back of the boat and control the bowmount at times...... Sinker
  16. Not sure if this is what your after, but have a look....... http://atlas.nrcan.gc.ca/site/english/maps/topo/map Sinker
  17. I'd just put it in with new gas and burn it. Its not gonna hurt anything. Sinker
  18. Nope. The mighty scugog runs out of the lake on the east side of the lake into lindsay, then into sturgeon lake.
  19. Heres another one..... http://www.animatedknots.com/
  20. Dress warm, I hear there's a winter storm warning up there right now. Good luck! Sinker
  21. In my case, the CO was just being a jerk. He was standing right there when I set the hook and passed it to my boy. He stayed and waited for him to reel it up........then made sure we released it, or he was going to charge me........I just popped the hook in the hole and down it went. We only had 2 lines in the water between us.....so.....not sure what his problem was.......just being a jerk. At least they are out there......just after the wrong guys I guess. Sinker
  22. I can't find in the regs where it says you cannot continue fishing once you have your limit. Anyone else see it , or is it just me. I'm pretty sure you can keep fishing, but all fish must be released immediately........?? There is a law about KEEPING too many fish in your possesion, but I can't find anything on stopping fishing once you have a limit in your possesion. It would be a waste of a trip if I was to leave after one person in my group caught a limit........thats no fun at all. Regardless, if the warden had of charged me, I'd be going to court for sure, because that's a Bull charge if I ever did see one........ I don't mind an overzealous CO either, but that's a little too far IMO. Sinker
  23. 19 deg C is 66F. If you found water that warm, you should have been catching. Where I was, it was tough to find water that was 60F. Most of the day it was below that. You need warm water to promote the weed growth........that's where the eyes are gonna be. I didnt' see any new weeds, and I fished all day non stop looking for some. Sinker
  24. It is legal for my son to continue fishing if I have my 2 whities. As I mentioned, it was my sons line, I just set the hook and handed it to him. Sinker
