Well....whatever I've caught my fair share of atlantics too. Just never lake run fish. I just thought maybe that could have been an atlantic the way the scales were flaking off and lack of spots on the gill plate. I know fresh water atlantics look a lot different than saltwater run fish, so I was just hoping maybe it was an atlantic. They weren't fishing far from duffins creek, and its been stocked with them......so who knows. You guys seem so sure its a brown, I still think it might be an atlantic myself. I'm still on the fence with regards to stocking atlantics. I'm all for a self sustaining fishery, but the watersheds still need a lot of work in order for them to successfully reproduce. Its gonna take a few years to see results, so don't count it out yet. S.

Well, the flaking scales is what got my attention, then I noticed the 3 spots on the gill plate. I'm usually pretty good at IDing fish, but this is a tough one. The mouth could be a little far back, and the spots do go below the lateral line......so who knows......could go either way I guess. I know if I caught it, I'd be checking it out a little closer. Since when does an atlantic have a forked tail?? Maybe as a parr, or smolt, but by the time they reach the lake, it might be slightly concaved, but not forked.......pretty much the same as a brown. I dunno about that fish. For some reason, I still think its an atlantic . Maybe its the slenderness, and lack of spots on the gill plate that is throwing me off.......or maybe Im just looking too hard. It sure looks different from the other ones.......?? You didnt' happen to keep it did ya Newf? Then we would all know for sure........but I guess if you did, you wouldn't want to tell anyone huh? Sinker

.......I do believe thats payback.....

You need to look up the regs for the lake to find a definition of where the lake starts, and river ends.

Are you thinking about buying it, or you already have it? You just need to transfer the plate for the trailer into your name, and register it at any sevice canada kiosk. As of now, there is no mandatory insurance required. You'll also need the boaters card. Sinker

I'm looking, but not seeing anything? What should I be looking for?

Not bad for a bass report Your looking pretty sunburnt by the end of the day......a little itchy now?? LOL Sinker

Sure you can cut it to fit the hull, and keep it level on top. Makes for a cleaner look, but that's about it. Stick it on there with the 5200.....unless someone can advise something better? I wouldn't screw it on....aren't you putting it on there so you don't screw the ducers thru the hull?? Sinker

Does nobody else think that first fish is an atlantic???? Look at the spots on the gill plate, and how the scales are coming off. I think it is one for sure.......anyone?? Sinker

There was no mention of whether or not it was kept. I just assumed it was, according to the blood coming out of the gills, the hand in the gills, and the fish being thrown in the dirt. I also think that IF the fish was released, this would have been a good post, just to educate others who might think handling a fish like that is ok if intending to release it. I never accused anyone of anything. Simply posted facts from what I gathered from the pictures. NO hard feelings I agree, its totally legal to keep that fish, and if the angler decided to keep it, so be it.....I"m sure it will make a great meal for him and his family. Sinker

A++ on the new pose.......I love it And I must say, I like the pics with just the fish, still in the water much better than the ones with the pose Thanks for the report, Critic

Its also a good idea to keep your hands away from the gills. If that fish wasn't kept, its dead now for sure. I bet if you went down there again today, you could find it floating belly up in the docks somewhere. Sinker

That first pic looks like it might be an atlantic. They all look edible, just not baked Sinker

I was waiting for it......... I just assumed it was kept? Sinker

For me, BP is a waste of time. I've been 4 times, left there 3 times with nothing. I won't be going back there any time soon. I go to my local guy who has everything I need. If he doesn't have it, he'll get it within the week. Works for me. Sinker

This is why I bought a boat, traded all my float gear, and took up musky fishing. It will never change. I almost convinced myself to go hit the east tribs the other day, but screw that......I couldn't handle it. Too many friggen yahoos for me........and I live 10 mins from 3 of them!! Nice fish Joey, never mind the naysayers. The tribs will be packed whether you post your pictures or not. Just keep posting them....... Sinker

When you try to scoop a 25lb chinny, and don't pull the net up vertical, the handle will snap quite easy. The netting is fine, but the handle can't take the weight horizontally. Sinker

Good on ya for getting her out Jaques. I have a daughter about the same age (12).......she even has the same name.....LOL......I can't convince her that fishing is the best thing to do on her days off, but when we do get out, its always good quality father/daughter time. Priceless!! Thanks for the report! Sinker

I dunno about that.......maybe you reel with the wrong hand?? Beat this, I cast AND reel with the same hand.......I bet ya can't do that Hey, at least you were trying. Better than sitting here wishing you were fishing!! Thanks for the report, and great pics! Sinker

Hey, its all about the adventure! I've gone on 3 separate trips this season in search of the almighty speckled trout, only to be stopped by private property, blocked roadways, roads with the wrong names.....etc. its all in the adventure. If your ever looking for another insane guy to join you on these back lake adventures during the week (off wed/thurs) pm me. I'm more than willing to ward off bears or other animals with canines, and I don't mind a good hike thru the woods. My orienteeting skills are not too bad either Ahh....the joy of speckle trout fishing.....ya gotta love it!! Even with no fish, its always a satisfying trip!! One fish makes the whole day that much more worthwhile! Sinker
