  1. I'll be icefishing for at least 6 more weeks. Spring ice fishing is killer Sinker
  2. Yes, they smell like cucumber!! I LOVE that smell!! Looks like another day of FUN, in the cold!! Sinker
  3. Cool way to spend a day. I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say I'm jealous!! Sinker
  4. That IS a HOG!! Biggest I've seen, thats for sure. I've NEVER caught one in simcoe.......all I get are those silly whities and lakers all the time Did you keep it?? Nice work! Sinker
  5. I've got a spare floater suit, 2 man portable, and lots of gear. If you ever wanted to go out icefishing, just let me know!! If I leave team 8, my points come with me S.
  6. Ahhh.......this is a refreshing post! Gotta love outside activities in the winter!! Your right, sitting inside whining about it just makes it worse, and you feel much better after a good day out in the fresh air!! Thanks for posting Bernie! Any pics of the camp?? I'd bet its a nice place you guys have set up! Good area, that's for sure!! Sinker
  7. One of my biggest pet peeves is whiners. Next is people who complain about winter being so long.........gimme a break!! Its like 4 months of the year, get off your arse and make the best of it. Its always the people who sit inside all winter who complain.........get some gear and get out of the house.......its the best time of year!! If your out, and not dressed for cold........of course your going to get cold.......pretty simple fact!! The leafs, no comment. Curling.......people actually watch curling?? Like I said.......get off your arse and get outside!! Sinker
  8. Just dont get the lucky strike cradle. ITs a hook magnet.......every fish I've landed in the one I have, something is caught in the mesh.........it drives me nuts!! I would also reccomend the net. You can use it in more places too.......I really can't say I like the cradles myself. No chance if your alone with one, and a proper net works just as well as a holding pen. Sinker
  9. So, now that you got rid of that skunk last week, this week you double your catch, and get an entry for the tourney?? Geeze...next time your pretty much guaranteed a hog of a fish, or a haul fest!!! WTG! Sinker
  10. Great read man! You do some good tours, thats for sure. Those eyes must have been sooooo gooood!! Specks are like that. Hit, or miss. Its always a good adventure chasing them. I hear ya about the fire too, ya gotta love a good fire!! Sinker
  11. I bet that was fun Sinker
  12. This is good reading material!
  13. Great video! A real eye opener.... Sinker
  14. I don't have a multi button?? I have "quote", "reply", "top" buttons. Where is it supposed to be?? I've always wondered how you do it too...... Sinker
  15. Well said GCD!! My knives are all VERY sharp, and they stay that way. Knives for fish, ONLY cut fish. Knives for meat ONLY cut meat. A sharp knife is safer than a dull knife. I use an oil stone to sharpen, with 2 different grits, one on each side. If you maintain them, you should only have to use the stone a couple times per season. A steel is all I use the most. Sometimes in a pinch, a sink will work. A strap of leather also keeps a nice edge. There is a definite knack to sharpening, you don 't want to be in a rush. I agree with the statement mentioned about a guide with a dull knife.......whats up with that?? If you were my guide, I'd show you a few things. A dull knife is about as useful as a dead battery........a guide thats cleaning my fish with a dull knife wouldn't touch my fish!! Sinker
  16. Should be good fishing under the bridge this weekend
  17. A dealership is the very last place I'd take my vehicle!
  18. Like I always say.....its all about the adventure!! Looks like you fellas had quite the adventure......to say the least!! Thanks for the report! Sinker
  19. Yep, Im jealous!!!
  20. Is it possible to get too much Vit D?? If it is, I'm in big trouble! S.
  21. The thing is, the regs say south side of the bridge......its pretty clearly written in there. Regardless of what any sign says. A CO would have to sit there all day, every day to enforce it. Just because the sign is in the wrong spot doesn't make it "right" to fish there.......especially when you KNOW its part of the santuary. I don't really care either way......I gave up on fishing those spots looooong ago. You guys can have attem!! S.
  22. You guys make 2 strokes sound like all they do is blow smoke. Sure, there is a little smoke, but good gawd....nothing like you fellas make it out to be. Run some decent oil, and learn how to mix it properly. The smoke out of mine looks like steam........and I like the smell!!! This isn't a 2stroke vs. 4 stroke discussion. Its about what engine best suits a 14ft jon boat rated for a 25. 25hp yammy 2 stroke. S.
  23. I'm sure a 4 stroke is better on fuel. Im sure they're better for the environment. I'm sure they run smoother and quiter. I know all this....... The question here was a 25 2 stroke, or a 20 4 stroke on a 14ft duck boat rated for a 25. I still say get the 25 2 stroke.......its a small boat, with no gadgets on it. No need for the charging system, no need for the extra weight with less power. Max power is the best you can do. If your worried about the difference in gas.......you got issues.....we're talking a 25 HP........you'll prolly only need to fill the tank 3-4 times a season!!! You'd spend more on beer for one weekend!!!! EDIT: Boatman beat me to it.....he knows his stuff!!!! Sinker
  24. That is an improved clinch knot. The improvement is putting it thru the second loop. A clinch knot is just wrapping it around 5 times, and thru the hole. Some might call it a fishing knot too Works for everything, and takes about 3 seconds to tie with frozen hands. Sinker
  25. I'm highly doubting that........got anything to prove it? Just curious....... S.
