  1. I'm just as excited as you's two must be LOL. I've had my 7 year old out "holding legs" too. Its in the blood eh I wish we had a youth hunt up here, I know we'd take full advantage of it!!! S.
  2. Find some crown land. Scugog island has a little piece on the north tip. S.
  3. Wouldn't be the first time I was jigging from my boat on ice opener!! Its a heck of a lot easier to cover water, that's for sure!! My boat will be ready. S.
  4. Good luck Jason!! I hope he gets a shot on a trophy!! P.S........let us know how ya make out!!! S.
  5. Mid december.
  6. Good point.....I forgot to say. ALWAYS add the extra felt liner to the soles of your boots. I put in the felt insole, then my liner, then one pair of good wool socks. Oversize is the way to go. Its the airspace in your boots that keep your feet warm. Tight boots = cold feet for sure. S.
  7. All you's really need is PURE WOOL socks!!!! Merino wool if you can find it. Learn to knit, its worth it in the winter!!!! Better yet, find yerselves a good woman who will knit them for ya!!! My green rubbers, ONE pair of wool socks, a pair of wool mitts, a wool toque, and a nice thick wool sweater, and I'm all set. Bring on the cold!! S.
  8. I wouldn't take anything TWN says seriously. I'll be surprised if we get half of what they are saying. S.
  9. In NFLD you have to shoot targets to get a moose license. My old man was surprised with that when he went. I don't really see the point in a bow license though. S.
  10. I'm thinking the same thing. I've fished the kawartha's most of my life, but I have no idea how the ice is on those lakes. Its going to be a learning experience for sure. Just wait till the no parking signs go up too!! Its funny, you open up a fishing season, and the whole area will get locked down with no parking signs! Just wait until the ice fisherman see me smashing the ice to get out after ducks......... They're not gonna like me too much at first ice I think its great though, I already have my waypoints saved and ready to go S.
  11. I'd just spit on it, and wrap it in duct tape.
  12. Yeah, we used carstar in oshawa on my wifes car a couple years ago, no probs. She wrote off her last one though, and we got ripped off bigtime. None of them were her fault, so don't even go there...... lol. s.
  13. I still like me green rubbers the best! S.
  14. I caught this one on May 21, 2009 jigging for whities on simcoe. 80FOW on a badboy type jig. First and only one I've ever caught out of there, but I've seen many caught, and even more on camera out of there. Most of the haliburton trout lakes are loaded with them too. Just set a jighead with salties on bottom at dusk and your pretty much guaranteed to get a couple. I prefer them over lakers on the table. S.
  15. Steve, no disharge bylaws apply to bow/crossbow where your thinking. Once your east of townline, the by laws change and you can discharge...........with some restrictions. Those deer are there, because they are safe. S.
  16. Make it multi species, and I'd do it. Go with the seasons. Perch derby first, then crappies, then walleye, musky, bass..................etc. I think multi species makes for a much more rounded angler. I don't do bass at all, but I can catch all the rest pretty good S.
  17. Mine is a '93 40 mariner tiller. Its been bullet proof. When I upgrade, its going to be a 40 yamaha. S.
  18. Have you ever used a good quality, light gathering scope? There is a big difference.
  19. I dunno, I had a red dot, and once it starts getting dark, all you can see is that red dot........nothing else. I had mine on a slug gun, and a BLR. I missed a couple chances at deer because I couldn't find them.......all I could see was that friggen red light!!! I'd take a scope over the red dot anyday. S.
  20. I have a rifled barrel for sale right now if your interested. Its a remington, 3", fully rifled, with iron sights. I've only shot it at targets, never hunted it. Maybe 20 shots thru it. Mint shape, asking $200. Pm if your interested. S.
  21. You have to wonder how that effected the wildlife in the area......mainly the ducks?? Crazy stuff for sure. No worries about the pics Cliff, I'm going to go up there wed and take a look from the boat. I'll take some pics and update this thread. S.
  22. Holy crap!!!! That really sucks!!!!!!! I can't believe that..........could you take a pic in day light for me........maybe from the road on top of the hill looking out over the lake?? That's crazy!! I'm assuming its the piece on the west side of the river channel? Must look awful!! S.
  23. At least he got the deer. If it was lost, it would be a different story. Always smart to carry extra ammo, you never know what will happen out there. The second picture is scary. Whether the gun is loaded or not, having a shotgun pointed at me, closed with no safety on isn't going to happen. EVer. Period. BTW, keep your orange on too!! Congrats again Marty, I know you haven't been hunting long, so you gotta learn somehow. I learned a lot of things the hard way, its the best way IMO. S.
  24. I would have told that cop to stuff it, as I was putting the deer in my truck!! As long as the person who hit it says you can have it, a simple phone call to the MNR to report it is all that is required. S.
  25. Nice buck !!! I always bring way too much ammo, but I've never run out!! S.
