  1. Loved watching his show, one of the reasons I got into fishing, My Dad and Red Fisher. In college we did a spoof on his show that ran every week on CCTV in the college. Lots of fun sitting around "Scuttlebutt Lodge" but the field trips to blow things up with a shot gun went over the best. I'd love to hear the sound track as well Joe! LOL!
  2. My condolences to family and friends. Just tragic news.
  3. Nicely done, congrats on the PB!! This should help with your video. Some great fish there, nice job on the video. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Jl6DjD3sTFs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  4. He's just showing his age John.... Edit - Should add this - If you can find it around it's worth a try. Barley Days Brewery Some LCBO's carry the product or if you are out the Picton way just stop in. Hours and map.
  5. That sums it up pretty well. If those fingers were flipping the bird to those idiots perhaps.....
  6. Thanks for whipping up this little report for us. Just incredible!! What a great way to look back at the last decade and reminisce about days gone by. I wonder if you were the first to weigh a fish on that hospital scale. That fire at Kesagami would be one to remember and probably didn't need the journal to jog the memory of that. And the places you've been and the multiple species you've caught, just amazing. Thanks for taking the time to share your last 10 years.
  7. You guys trying to make for something by talking about how long your shaft is? Mine is 60" as well. Now having the longer shaft caused me a problem once and broke the transducer off when getting too shallow and forgetting to slide the motor up. Other than that, it's been great. Especially on the rough water days.
  8. Glad you and you better half enjoyed them. (Sorry about it costing you much of the Super Bowl...)
  9. So true Lew, thanks for the post.
  10. That pretty much sums it up. Been to Floodwood, Mikwam, Brailey, Yesterday and the cabins all could use some help. Having said that good times were had and fish were caught. Mark is a good guy to deal with. Here are a couple of the reports from those trips to give you a better idea. Mikwam 2009 Mikwam, 2008 part 1 Mikwam 2008 part 2 Floodwood 2007 part 1 Floodwood 2007 Part 2 We went to Yesterday in 2010 and had a incredible cold front move in on us on the first day. +30 to -2 Needless to say the fishing was tough and didn't have much to report on for that trip. We still caught fish, just not numbers or size. Good time was had, well except for the hook in my finger and a trip to the hospital once we were out. We also spent a little extra and got the satellite phone from Mark. Worth the extra for some peace of mind in my opinion. Last year we were off to Eddie North's camp for something a bit different. I can't speak for Tomorrow Lake personally but would expect it to be similar to the others I've been. I'd go back to the area and will most likely do so with my buddy and his kids in a year or to for a trip.
  11. Was sent this video of the "auto jigger" for icefishing. Thought it was pretty cool and thought I'd share it here.
  12. Bacon or ham, mushrooms, pineapple. A meatlovers special is nice once in a while. Years ago there was a "deli pizza" at Pizza Pizza - ham, mustard, pickles, and caraway seeds. One of the craziest combos I've tried, it wasn't too bad.
  13. I believe he bought/buys a Non Ontario License. His card was different from mine, all green if I remember correctly.
  14. I remember that day... we may have been to nice. Don't remember that one but have seen it at Virginia Beach a couple of times. Parking like it was a parking lot on 5-6 inches of ice.
  15. Thanks for the input. I also sent him the link for Transport Canada , seems that he may find some answers and if not, there are some contact numbers. Hopefully he's not on hold for to long.
  16. That was my thought as well but maybe having a summer residence? I should have also stated that he is a Canadian who now lives in Nevada, that might make a difference. He still is legally a Canadian.
  17. I've got a buddy who lives in Nevada and recently bought a summer home (cottage) here in Ontario. He is planning on bringing his boat up and leaving it here and was wondering the following. I personally don't have a clue but thought some one here might know what he has to do and/or who he would need to contact ahead of time. The plan is to bring the boat up in June and wants to be prepared when crossing the border. Thanks for your input.
  18. A great day on the water anytime of the year!! Something special about being able to say you did it in January though. Thanks for the report, great video! So jealous...lol!
  19. Good on ya Nick!! Just watched the video and as Lew said "that's some great stuff you guys do". Been tossing around the idea of head up to the G2G but won't be able to attend. (Memorial service that day.) Have a great time everyone, looking forward to the report.
  20. Great reply Mike. Maybe I should get the dust off of the Orvis and get out there.
  21. I'm sure interested to see the before and after (as well as some in between) pics. If you have something you are happy with, then nothing wrong with giving her some TLC. Any time frame as to how long the restoration will take?
  22. Nice haul!! Hope the the bite is as good this weekend.
