  3. No need to be offended. The OP has just put on the signal, changed gears and going down a different road. Still getting out and enjoying the great outdoors. That was the latest that I've ever tried to launch a boat. At least we tried and the breakfast was great at the little hole in the wall restaurant. Fishing never really stops for me as well. There is usually a break in December till the ice firms up and another at the end of March, early April till the ice is gone.
  4. Welcome aboard Steve....as long as you're driving a console....
  5. Here's a few choices that will get you close to your budget. (these are from Radioworld) Cheapest buy is the Garmin 78 for $220 and the charts are $160 but it is a handheld unit, not sure if that is what you were looking for . I've picked out a couple of other less expensive options but will put you over your budget. Seems like everything is going in the combo direction of Chartplotters and Sounders. That's really too bad as I like having the separated units. Lowrance Monochrome screen Edit - This is a bit cheaper then the Garmin 78 but no colour screen Lowrance Humminbird Handheld Garmin 78 Handheld Garmin 78s Garmin Charts Navionics
  6. Pretty much! lol! I have no experience with this but it sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Maybe we all do a week at your camp of fishing (I mean bear) duty to help you out.
  7. Thanks Phil! I can vouch for Joe and his fine shirt. Rubin and Cliff on the other hand need to read the memos that go out before these trips. Very disappointed in both of them as I'm sure Joe is as well. Glad the trout was a hit Joe, sounds really good. Thanks for the additional pic Cliff, looks like I should be wasting away in Margaritaville. Glad you liked the sunset shots Chad, it really was nice to watch out there that evening.
  8. I did a double shift on Lake O this past Saturday. The am guests were Headhunter and Rubin. Met at the launch for 5:30am, loaded and lines were set before 6:30am. Beauty sunrise over the lake. Rubin happy to be out. Joe wondering why he is not in bed. It wasn't too long and Rubin was into the first fish of the day. A bit of time passes when the next rod goes off. Smaller bow about 2-3 pounds for Joe. I'm up next and hoping for something a bit bigger. We trolled and trolled and trolled for another 4 hours without a bump. Off the water by 12:30, home - lunch - power nap and then head out to pick up Cliff for round 2. On the water around 4 and head back out to 130ft and set up the lines. It wasn't long and the dispsys were firing. A couple fish lost and a couple small ones to the boat. Had something trip the dipsy in the middle of the action. Reeled in reset the dipsy, send it back out to the same number on the counter, and as soon as I sat down, the rod fires again. Get up and real in one of the smaller bows. Fun to see that happen. Things slowed a bit so we turned to go back into the "alley" when one rod starts screaming out line. Hoping for a chinny but were not disappointed with this nice bow. As the sun started to set we made our way to shallower water hoping for a mature chinook but it wasn't meant to be. It certainly was an awesome sunset though. Off the water around 9pm and the end of beauty summer day, couldn't ask for nicer weather. Fun day on the water with some great people, the fish were a bonus. Thanks for the company gentlemen.
  9. Usually I'm out at least once a week, sometimes twice. A couple weeks of fishing vacations as well. Been doing it like many others here, since I was a kid. Learned the basics from Dad and most of my stuff from TV shows and magazines, books, was fortunate to work for a guy that fished for a living and learned tons of stuff there. That is probably where my fishing obsession exploded. Now a days the internet is a great resource and the people on the board here (and others) are awesome at giving advise and point you in the right direction. Edit - You never stop learning. This year I've been learning all about the salmon and trout on Lake Ontario. Can't believe I've gone all these years and never explored it sooner. Time on the water is the best teacher I'd say.
  10. They sure are a beautiful fish. Nice report.
  11. Awesome!! Love the music selection.
  12. Time on the water with family can't be beat! Great report Jen.
  13. I can laugh at another persons pain....."oh my arm is killing me and there's still 200ft of line to go....." Been there and done that.
  14. It sure is fun when they come out and play. Haven't been doing this Lake O stuff for very long or that often but sure am enjoying my time out there. Pretty much. It was only 400' of line and leadcore, what are you complaining about? That rod was good to you that day. Funny how when you were up that rod would go for you and the dipseys would go for me.
  15. That's OK Jacques, you fit in just fine with all the other crazy's here.
  16. Fun video to watch Mike, thanks for taking the time to put it together.
  17. Incredible offer Mike!! You're a good man Mr. Parker.
  18. Great report!! Always nice to pick up a new PB, congrats!! Nice hat Frank! Mine could be a new lucky fishing hat for me.
  19. Always enjoyed watching her perform, a very funny lady. A selection of comic lines from Phyllis Diller: — "I once wore a peekaboo blouse. People would peek and then they'd boo." — "I never made 'Who's Who,' but I'm featured in 'What's That?' " — "When I told Fang I was going to have my face lifted, he said, 'Who'd steal it?'" — "You know you're old when your walker has an airbag." — "I was the world's ugliest baby. When I was born, the doctor slapped everybody." — "I became a stand-up comedienne because I had a sit-down husband." — "My vanity table is a Black & Decker workbench." — "The only thing domestic about me is I was born in this country." — "They say housework can't kill you, but why take the chance?" — "I have so many liver spots, I ought to come with a side of onions." — "Think of me as a sex symbol for men who just don't give a damn." — "The best contraceptive for old people is nudity."
  20. Great report Cliff, thanks for putting it together. It certainly was an awesome day on the water. Well said Cliff except it really was a "deadwell" that day. Not much more I can add but you obviously needed the whole story Snidley and now you have it. As a seasoned angler and a strong believer in conservation, I certainly don't need your lecture. That is what this guy is saying. Edit - BTW Cliff - dinner was very good.
