  4. When the MNR stopped in to visit us on the weekend up in Temagami (the report is coming although not much to report) the guy told us that they had been office restricted for the last month+ do to gas restrictions. Last week was the the first week out for them up there. Apparently they should be fine up till the end of their fiscal year.
  5. DOUBLE DANG!! At least no one was hurt and hopefully you'll be able to salvage most of your inventory. Fishnsled
  6. Well that's just terrible news, very sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family. Fishnsled
  7. One of the best reads I've seen here in a long time. I could agree more. Thanks for the report and better luck next time. Fishnsled
  8. HH - I'll take tons of pics, more if the fishing is great! Wayne - "Gramps" sounds like a must do on the way up. Thanks for the tip. Nothing wrong with a couple of magazines to help kill some time between fish. If we get to town I'll check your doors for ya, maybe check on your new boat for you too! Terry - They certainly are ugly and when I get one in my hands I maybe just as happy to send it down the hole. Everyone in the groups seems to want to try it so I'm sure if one comes up it will be into the fryer. It can't be any worst then carp. Yea carp. I had the chance to try some the other day that a co-worker brought in the he had bought at the store, it had been smoked. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.
  9. Great report! Any cleaning tips / receipes for the ling? Off to Temagami this weekend and we've been told that they move in pretty good at night. Wouldn't mind trying one.
  10. The time has come for our annual ice fishing weekend. This year we are heading up to Temagami tomorrow and will be staying with Becca's Haven Lake Trout, whitefish, walleye and ling will be the target. One of the guys in the group was up there and said it was pretty good. I'll let you know next week. Have a great and safe weekend everyone. Fishnsled PS - After reading Slayingm's report, anything needed to keep in mind for cleaning a ling? Any receipes? I've heard if your cube it up and cook it in garlic and butter, it tastes like lobster!? I'll let you know if we get one.
  11. WOW!!! Am I ever glad I was sick. There are only 2 times that I can remember being too sick to go ice fishing and having to cancel on people. This is one and the other was the day that Simcoe broke up and they brought in all the rescue helicopters. Good to know that everything is OK HH and we'll get out and get'em soon.
  12. Now that was certainly worth the hike Emil. Congrats on a great day. Hopefully Headhunter and I will have similar success on Saturday. We'll be taking the sled and the new clam though. Oh ya, note to self - don't forget the heater. lol If your looking for a ride sometime give me a shut. Fishnsled
  13. I'm on my way with my sled and snowblower! LOL! Not quite the army but it's a start.
  14. Good points Raf and Terry.
  15. Very nice.
  16. My guess would be thermostat. Shouldn't be too expensive.
  17. I couldn't agree more. You don't want to waste any of those tasty morsels. Good call on the Rapala.
  18. What time is dinner??? I've always wondered about using an electric knife. I've seem one person use it and it worked like a charm. Maybe it's a matter of getting use to it? Did you buy one for filleting or just a regular electric knife? Nice job on the fillets BTW
  19. That's what we did a few years ago and it worked great. The idea of the paint poles is excellent. We used dowling which was fine but not very portable. We also use a hand drill with a large bit so the poles fit snug but still had a bit of play so you could wiggle them out at the end of the day.
  20. MORE SNOW NEEDED!!!! I haven't had to use my snow blower for 2 years now! (sorry, couldn't resist) Bring some to Oshawa when you come down if you like.
  21. Enjoy the new bass boat with my share. lol
  22. I guess that with the software change over there was a glich and I had a few of my friends end up on my blocked list. For the record I don't have anyone blocked, well now there isn't. So if anyone was trying to contact me and it said you were block, sorry. Messages should come in fine now. Anyone else have this problem?
  23. CONGRATS!!!! What are you doing to celebrate? Going to do some ice fishing tonight? Whatever you decide, have a great day.
