Spent quite a bit of time on the water last week. Fish didn’t come easy. A couple of skunkings on walleye, a broken trolling motor, many km and plenty of hours on the water. Finally found some active fish. Got them on a variety of baits with the big swimbaits and soft plastic jerkbaits getting most of the fish. They did not want the jerk bait at all for some reason. Furless beavers were very rare in the ‘70s.

Thanks guys! They are pretty rare in our lake. Funny thing happened yesterday too, went back casting in exactly the same place and here comes another rarity, an albino beaver!!! Wish I had a better camera than just my phone some days.

Sometimes you just happen to hit one of those special days. Was out on Sunday with a buddy and we probably caught 25 walleye along with a number of incidental bass, muskie and crappie. Kept one of the smaller walleye for dinner.

Hey guys, couple changes of plans up here in Pointe Au Baril. i want to fish all weekend but my partners all just bailed. anyone thinking they’d like to try for some pike and maybe some walleye and crappie this Friday or Saturday in pointe au baril shoot me a pm. I think by fishing day 4 I might be getting a bit lonely lol. to bring - your own transportation to PAB, food, gear and a pleasant attitude I’ll take care of the rest.

As one that started with the original Lowrance green box Fish-Lo-K-Tor flasher, really, if you don't have your own boat and probably will just suction cup it on a rental, all you really need to do is locate structure , I'd cheap out at this point and wait until you get your own boat for all the bells and whistles, probably too you will have a better idea by then about what you want in a fish finder.
