Hi all, Our bay iced over last night, some areas of open water in the main basin visible from our shore but with three days of light winds and -20C temps midweek should lock up everything. Bit of a bummer that we have 10cm to 15cm of snow forecast tomorrow to insulate the new ice, but it’s better than the three feet some parts of Ontario are getting, you can keep that sh$&! I was looking back at my first ice post on here from last year, we are a day short of 2 weeks later this year, hopefully we have an ice road before Xmas. Might get out somewhere on Sunday, will post if I do.

Zaldain has the same deal going on his boat too, hds 12, apex 12 and a GPS map. I do have to say, wheeler's set up is horrific and giving me an aneurism. He clearly should have called up the guys at Geigertech but I have to assume he has some deal with Boat logix. Here's probably the wildest electronic's set up on the planet, although he swapped one of the garmins on the bow for an NBT during the season. Perhaps the biggest impact it will have is that "crappie brakes" are now illegal and no one is allowed to run livescope deucers off of their jackplate anymore. I could see this quickly changing though, someone is going to release an all in one deucer for sure in the near future. The idea of side scanning in live time makes complete sense. I also think that this LVS XR and LVS 34 will just be combined into one deucer with multiple frequency selections. I think thats basically where this stuff is headed in the near term. Especially because they are only allowing one FFS deucer on Bassmaster now. Dont even get me started on MLF..their zany weird rules are ridiculous.

It’s very sad. On the other extreme I remember spear fishing off the beaches in the Caribbean as a kid, literally wade 10’ into the water and there were red and black coral ferns the size of an ice shack, every colour living corals everywhere, sea grass fields and every species of fish to make the mind boggle and senses overload, have been back to those same shores 40 years later and it’s all gone, nothing but dead , bleached coral and a few hardy species of reef fish sparsely distributed. In behind what mangroves have been spared by developement is plastic piled 3’ high, it is literally disgusting. Many factors at play, all contributed to by us, sad my son will never experience what I was privileged to see.

I wish everyone ahead of me at the launch had this. Was at thames the other day, blew my mind how long people took to put a boat on a trailer and haul it up to the parking lot. My turn finally came and as usual, maybe one minute to have buddy back down ramp, drive it on, winch it up the last foot or two and he drives it up top the parking lot. Not so tough. The funny thing is, the guys before us who must have fiddled around for 10 minutes, actually had to put their boat back into the water because it was on so crooked. Biggest problem...people get their trailer too deep in the water so boat is floating above it as they start to drive away, winds or currents catch it.

Italo is one of the most annoying condescending waste of skin I've ever had the displeasure of knowing, just saying.
