We got clobbered by another vicious storm yesterday which was probably worse than the one last week. Nothing like what Barrie went thru of course but that's ...I think...the 4th bad storm in a couple weeks. My wife cooked up a beautiful roast beef dinner and while I was slicing it the thunder started rolling and as we sat down at the table on the back deck there was probably the loudest bang I've ever heard as the lightening flashed overhead, the wind started howling and within seconds the food was getting saturated as we tried to get everything back in the house. Woke up this morning and there's 2 large trees down nearby plus smaller ones on the ground everywhere. Crazy thing though as it was beautiful here all day and even when the storm hit the sky didn't look that bad. It was all good though as the roast beef dinner was fantastic even though a bit wet LOL

Back from our annual camping trip , fishing was amazing , higher water levels made a huge difference on this lake . Despite the crazy weather all the gear held up perfectly. Snagged a Marmot Limestone tent a few years back on clearance and it really hadn’t been tested with weather yet , passed with flying colors and kept us dry all week ! Another surprise was how well the a Walmart “lifetime” cooler performed on our trip , absolutely destroyed the YETI we bring as well and is a fraction of the price . Area we camp at every year is boat access only, previous years I’d carefully glide my Lund up on to the shoreline while losing my mind hearing the scratching on the red hull, no worries about that with the G3 outfitter , couple scratches on her actually suit it lol. Fishing was great , tons of decent smallies, and a bunch of walleye and pike with a few fallfish . Smoke colored red flick tubes produced best with perch colored jerk baits a close second . Walleye came on mostly 1/4 oz jig heads tipped with shiners the kids netted through out the day . Typical walleye bite was fast and furious for 45min before sunset , through out the day I’d mark them off structure in 30’-40’ though and we got a few spot locking the trolling motor right over top of them . Would of loved to fish them like this for longer but with no power sources had to baby the batteries , Anyone run a small Honda generator to charge their boat? That may be the next purchase . No other sites anywhere near ours so noise won’t be an issue . Here’s a few pics from the trip

Minn Kota makes a self deploy , the price will likely shock you. And spot lock is incredible. I've stayed with the cable steer so far. But spot lock models so popular there's many good deals on used cable steer . ! would suggest 80 Fortrex 50 inch shaft.

Ha ha ha! good one! My new F-250 does not have this! I didn't want it. My Wife was disappointed, but I said the last two trucks had it and I never considered using it! No way I am backing up using a little dial!

dont be so critical....im a weather nut and I was following that forecast Thursday morning. 10am I read a report published by the weather network showing the main convection and wind sheer points indicating the specific tornado threat for Thursday afternoon. I then sent a text to both my brother and a good friend of mine who was camping at Earle Rowe Provincial Park warning him of the threat that afternoon, and to ensure he had his head on a swivel for inclement weather so that they would not get caught out hiking or at the beach when the severe weather inevitably arrived. The map provided by the weather network clearly showed wha areas of Southern Ontario had the most "tornado potential" and wouldnt you know it, the tornado ended up hitting dead in the middle of the area they indicated had one of the highest threats. I think environment Canada could have definitely issued a "tornado watch" earlier in the day, however the super cells that formed didnt start rotating until they were already established and moving at 50kmh. By that point they had already issued the tornado warning and sure enough it hit and caused damage. Its difficult for them to provide any more warning than they already did considering the storm popped up out of nowhere and then produced a tornado within half an hour of the storm not even existing anywhere on the radar. As much as the weather people get hated on, id say their ability to predict that happening 6 hours before is actually pretty impressive. To ask them to pinpoint the exact location is ridiculous, but they painted a reasonably narrow area and were bang on with their prediction.

And it was like Christmas in July . 2 months of dry land due to back and leg pain,I am ready to get back ater on the float boat. Bonus Christmas gift in July, a nice white fish. Dinner is going to be so good,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Thanks brother . Ya,I need to get back to them . Working on a new holder for the cam ,as my new float boat is a bit of a challenge to get rigged for doing vids. I do miss doing them that for sure. Makes for a fun outing. Edit to add,I need to work on my singing voice,it,s been a while. LMAO.

Well I'll go on the flip side of the coin and maybe the unknowing should spend 10 minutes asking the knowing what they should be doing.

I'm with Lew. My biggest pet peeve is people that sit around and criticize, yell at and or hassle people that clearly don't know what they are doing rather than offer assistance. My second biggest pet peeve at boat launches is guys that have egos so large that they can't accept help when they clearly need it.

If you see someone trying to launch or retrieve his boat that appears to lack experience, don't sit and criticize him but go over and offer some advice or even offer do it for him. Too many people forget they were new and inexperienced at boating at one time themselves but would rather sit back and ridicule others rather than offering to help.
