  1. That's cause you're bass fishing when doing it

  2. The jig is a classic for walleye, and just about any fish, because it works. Having said that a drop shot does work, and in spots might be better. If it's real snaggy a drop shot might work better because the hook is away from some of the snags. It is also easier/faster to replace a proper drop shot weight than it is to re-tie a jig. If you're fishing deeper (or faster) but want a light presentation at the hook a drop shot allows you to fish a 1oz weight but have nothing but a thin wire hook between you and the fish which can make a difference with finicy walleye. I use a drop shot a lot now with my kids b/c it's even easier than a jig for them but that doesn't mean it is beginner's only technique. If there is more than one angler in the boat and jigs are the choice maybe one person could try a drop shot.

  5. Well, I finally decided I couldn't decide where I wanted to buy a cottage so I got one on wheels ? . It's got all the comforts of home, and I don't have to worry about finding motel rooms any more. Ready, willing, and able to go fishing anywhere, any time!

  6. We headed to Chuck Lake Y. En route, on the way in, Colin and I both paused in the canoe and we tilted our heads back, inhaling through our nostrils. We could smell wood burning, most likely a campfire. Chuck's truck wasn't parked where we had started paddling, but maybe he came in through another route? Well, Chuck wasn't there and Colin took advantage and caught 2 good ones.

  9. Although I have caught numerous Walleye on a dropshot, it’s usually when I’m targeting bass! Great advice here, a jig is the way to go, either a twister tail type grub, a boot tail swim bait or a buck tail jig would be my go to!

  10. I was poking around the day before but I know Colin likes catching the big ones so I left them alone.

  11. Don't have the resources to do that. The original was just plain marine ply with no sealing. It lasted 28 years, so this should last longer and I'll be dead before it needs doing again.

  12. I'd skip both of those and just go to a simple jig/twister tail setup. Probably the most versatile bait out there and a killer for walleyes. Dropshotting and wacky rigging are more of a presentation for bass.
