  3. Hi all, Got out for the first boat outing this year, surface temps hovering around 40F. Looking in vain for crappie but we found some decent bass, a ton of hammer handle pike and the motherload of Rock Bass and Perch in one hole in 30'FOW(weird, never caught so many rock bass, even double headers.)
  4. Nice bedtime story about a black bear. https://www.thestar.com/news/ontario/mauling-victim-gives-chilling-account-of-bear-attack/article_440f9db9-7b04-565f-9298-39e68338f5b9.html
  5. Yesterday
  6. It was the kind game where a healthy Mathews would have scored.
  7. Some of you folks may have seen these already, I've had a few more requests since. Some of my favorite pics. The way I put it is some people will see a black bear and wonder if it is a grizzly, if you see a grizzly you'll know it is a grizzly and not a black bear.
  8. I have lost all my old pics of rigg,n with a 13.6 ft stick and using a pin reel. That is a blast.
  9. I wish I could do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing.
  10. Start of the next season,,,,,,, No Mariner, new coach, sammy on the market. Why they allowed AM to play,is beyond me.
  11. Mariner and Reilly for the Boston win. Great effort to defend. Lazy. Gotta go.
  12. I'm a big fan of long soft rigger sticks. While I have several options for the big lakes my go to is my over 40 year old 12' spiral wrapped Fenglass and my Shimano Triton 100 loaded with 12lb mono set up.
  13. Last week
  14. I may have to resort to garage sales. Meanwhile, this morning.
  15. Sounds like we have similar tastes. Ya Omni used to make all kinds of noodle rods. I remember having a 9', 10'6, and a 12'6 myself at points. Other friends had other ones. Like was said above we used to mostly buy them at Kmart haha usually 80$ish if i remember correct. I remember if we ever broke them which happened often as we were careless kids who lived walking distance to the Whirlpool back than Kmart would just give you a new one no question. I still look for vintage gear alot and almost never see the old Omni noodles, but they must be out there somewhere. I put some fish on the bank just this week with a Fenwick RiverRunner 11' and a Smith n Smith Streammaster. And ya the old Legacy rods and Abu Conolon noodles caught me a lot of fish too in there day until I got a little older and worked and could afford the D&M's or Loomis GL3 and IMX's. I have a lot of the modern gear Exprides and what not where sensitivity is needed and it's miles ahead but as far as float rods and rigger rods go something has been lost along the way and the old noodles are just so much more fun and all I really reach for
  16. If only camp work was year round… I’d be up for it in a heartbeat!
  17. Landed at the lodge 2 nights ago. We've just been doing maintenance on everything at camp. We got a great crew here and thos spring/summer/fall is going...to...be...a....BLAST!
  18. Hmm, it lasts 2 years as a stabilizer and also prevents phase separation for all those E fuels.
  19. It goes on sale regularly for under $10 at places like Napa And Home Hardware, I always stock up.
  20. heres the inspiration for my set up. The details start at the 12 minute mark. Like you said its not overly complicated just takes a bunch of time. I spent last winter rewiring everything. I obviously dont have as much space as these guys in their 21 foot boats, However I do one thing different than all of these guys. Seaclear specifically IMO doesnt use the best connectors for their wire. I know some guys also swear by soldering, but soldering 10awg wire can be a royal PITA, (maybe its just me?) and theres arguments that in the marine high vibration environment its not best. After a lot of research, I actually used MC4 connectors. They are popular in the off grid community for wiring 12volt solar systems. Crimping, plus a locking wrench system, and then a clip together thats also waterproof is about as good as it gets as far as im concerned. The only downfall to MC4's is the need to double up the crappy 16awg wire they give you with garmin units. Thats one thing thats driven me absolutely nuts about these marine electronic's manufacturers...everywhere you look on their recommend wire guage guides its way heavier guage than the wires they provide you from factory. Youd think spending a $1000 on a graph they could give you even 12 awg wire for the 6 foot length they give you SMDH.
  21. Still available, 1st come, 1st served..lol
  22. Nice work there! I watched a couple of vids on the Seaclear wiring harnesses and it would be real easy to duplicate what they offer for less $$. I just installed a HDS 16 at the helm so now I have that, 2 HDS 12s at the bow and Active Target. I've started collecting components to do what you did ;). 6AWG front to back and Bluesea fuse blocks, and a dedicated disconnect switch. All I need now is time..lol
  23. Thanks think I am going to give it a go
  24. Like the gentleman said Rice Lake was always good for walleye but haven't been for years either. Used to fish Sturgeon Lake but the last time there it was terrible. Been told people come up from the GTA and keep everything they catch no matter what the size. Also they have a ban on Lake Scugog for walleye because they are trying to bring the population back up. Good Luck It is a beautiful area and make sure and get some Kawartha Lakes icecream. YUM! YUM!
  25. I have fished in the Timmins area the last week of May and first week of June and it has always been great. Sunny but cool so no problem with flies. Make sure and check the fishing regulations cause I think (don't quote me) walleye season doesn't start till the last week of May. Fishing is always fantastic.
  26. The reason I live where I do CrowMan, it's beautiful around here.
