RickOnt Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 Don't want to hi jack Raycasters post Should you unplug trolling motor when charging batteries I have heard both ways

I essentially plug my boat in every time I get back to the dock without bothering to ensure my motor is shut off…don’t think it’s ever caused an issue for me 1
Terry Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 I see no reason to unplug the trolling motor while charging, mine is hardwired in so it never gets unplugged 3
Fisherman Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 (edited) I would suspect the only reason it may be said because "some" people forget/neglect/insert adjective to ensure their trolling motor is actually shut off and not drawing power. It would result in a long time before the battery(ies) are fully charged again. Wasn't pointing at Akrisoner, you just happened to mention it. Edited July 10 by Fisherman 1
RickOnt Posted July 11 Author Report Posted July 11 As Terry said 'if it is hardwired it would never be unplugged' So I guess it does not really matter
BillM Posted July 11 Report Posted July 11 I've never unplugged my Terrova when I charge the batteries. Only time it gets unplugged is when it's removed. 1
