Peterborough Area Walleye?

Recommended Posts

Primarily a Bass fisherman, but figured I might try my hand at Walleye this spring...any tips on what lakes to try in the Peterborough area?

Is Rice Lake any good for Walleye?

Thanks

It was when I fished it 20 some odd years ago...

Most of the Kawartha Lakes and rivers have their share of pickerel...

personally, id fish the tri-lakes, they had a pretty decent population and spawn of them come through a few years ago. I wouldnt call the fishing for them "excellent" by any means though. Not a lot of places have good walleye fishing anymore.

And if they're not biting, the scenery's nice...

Like the gentleman said Rice Lake was always good for walleye but haven't been for years either. Used to fish  Sturgeon Lake but the last time there it was terrible. Been told people come up from the GTA and keep everything they catch no matter what the size. Also they have a ban on Lake Scugog for walleye because they are trying to bring the population back up. Good Luck It is a beautiful area and make sure and get some Kawartha Lakes icecream. YUM! YUM!
