super dave Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 So I recent ripped apart my trolling motor and built a small control box so it sits beside me on the kayak. This box will control the speed. There are two wires that are a bit thicker gauge. I can't seem to find the right gauge at the big box stores. Anyone know where I can get wires in the Scarborough/Pickering area? I temporarily used thinner gauge wires and it works but it's not reaching max speed so im guessing the thinner gauge is restricting max output. Thanks.
Fisherman Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Not knowing what size/amps your trolling motor takes, Princess Auto carries down to 8ga. Also the option of getting a cheap set of jumper cables at Wallymart, take the ends off and there you go. 6ga would probably be more than enough.
DRIFTER_016 Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Car audio shop for straight copper or West Marine if you want tinned marine wire.
cheaptackle Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Any Electrical supply house like Nedco (where I bought mine, wanted batteries at the back for my bow mount) or Ideal supply etc. Michael

Old Ironmaker Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Man Kayak fishing has come a long way since we would go out at the cottage in Uncle Lloyds home made Kayaks with one lure, the one on the rod and a small trout net. Fantastic, I even I think I can still get in and out of one, with an electric I would only need back up paddles. That I would love to try.
